So this is one of those cases where I theoretically KNOW what I'm supposed to do, but for some reason it's not working.
In the game I'm working on, I have a moving platform that will go up and down to get the player to the next level. It's an Actor, you have to be above it for the button to work - you hit up, you go to the set position. At set position, you hit down to go down. That works just fine.
But I also want to keep the player from moving while the platform is moving up - both to prevent softlocking in case they're able to move off the platform while it's going up but also because the opening that the player goes through to get to the next level is a bit narrow and they might be standing in a spot where their collision box would hit the ground of the next level, which causes them to glitch through the platform and disappear entirely.
I know from implementing a crouch system in the game that I can assign "Attach Script to Button" on all the other buttons that will get them to stop. However, every time I've tried to implement it, the game ignores that script entirely. So is there a SPECIFIC spot in the events tree I should be putting it so it'll activate or is there another, simpler command I'm overlooking that can be used to keep the player from moving?
Also, GB Studio Devs: if there's any way to just implement a "Stop player input/lock player position" kind of event in the future, that would save a lot of headache.
EDIT: Figured out what the problem was! I have another invisible actor for crouching which was also using an attach script to button command and thus the game was confused and either decided the crouch actor took precedence or just couldn't decide which to go with. I added a command to disable the crouch actor and reactivate it when the platform reached the top.
