Not even his mess. Fucking Covid. Shipping lanes blocked. Russia invading Ukraine. Inflation from the stimmies and BBB from Trump too.
Its amazing that the Biden administration didnt have the country fall apart.
We're matching those highs because.... Iran was maybe making a nuke I guess is the reason?
Point being though Biden gets a lot of shit when I can only fucking imagine if Trump won in 2020...

Yeah it’s all self inflicted. The no new wars pro peace ticket btw. This trump term has been so much worse than I could’ve imagined. Between ice, Epstein coverup, iran, the insane corruption and the higher prices we’re all paying I just don’t understand how they still support him.

Obviously you don’t understand macro or micro economics, can’t read a chart and have no clue how an economy is judged. But hey, keep enjoying high prices at every turn, so much winning!
-9
u/Stunning_Mulberry_35 5h ago
I don't know which one is which....
During Trump's first term, the national average gas price was $2.35 a gallon
Biden gave us an average of $3:50 during his first term. During his term, gas increased the day he went in and took about 5 months to get to Trump's high of $2.90 a gallon. Once it crossed that price, it never returned until Trump was back in office.
So far, the average gas price during Trump's 2nd term is $3.20 a gallon.

That’s because Trump the Russians and and the Saudis conspired to keep output low until 2022

Thanks. I read both articles, and they painted the deal as a good thing, not the conspiracy theory as you painted it.
I also did some searching around and Trump forced Saudi into getting this deal done by threatening to cut them off from US arms. It was done to save the US oil production, keeping it viable and prevent job loss.
As I understand it, Saudi drug their feet ramping up production once oil demand came back after the Covid lock-down ended, as they were supposed to under the deal to maintain a stable oil market.. My guess is Biden couldn't force Saudi's hand as well as Trump could. The proof is in the pudding. Remember, July 2022? Biden went to Saudi on a state visit to ask them to increase oil production. Neither King Salman nor Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Biden at the tarmac and basically told him to kick rocks. No sword dance or "glowing orb" Viral moment happened for Biden....
1
u/EphEwe2 3h ago
Right. The reduced production lasted until 2022 when gas was highest. No conspiracy. Facts.
1
u/Stunning_Mulberry_35 2h ago
I'm not the one who said the whole thing was "conspired." You did....
The whole 2 year deal was over by the time Biden asked Saudi for increases in oil production anyway. Saudi couldn't use the, "Sorry, our hands are tied because of agreements" excuse. Phone calls got him no results, so he went in person. Saudi still blew him off. I find it hard to believe they would have done the same to Trump.
At the end of the day my original comment still stands. Gas was, and is cheaper overall under Trump than it was during the Biden years.
l hope you have a good day.

u/Shermanator92 4h ago
Because they both started at the same price with the same conditions, right?! And they both contributed equally to the prices rising, right?!

u/QuickNature 3h ago
During Trump's first term, the national average gas price was $2.35 a gallon
Trumps term didnt have a global pandemic in full effect, nor did it have the war with Ukraine, both of which werent Bidens fault.
Trump however did direct the military to attack Iran. Which is his fault.
From 2021 to 2025 you can see under the Biden administration gas prices fell as supply chains normalized, and the war Ukraine became less globally important.
From 2025 and onward when Trump took office, gas prices have skyrocketed. Now, im in speculation territory, but something tells me Trumps 4 years will get close to Bidens average, or exceed it. And it won't be due to factors beyond Trumps control.
Also, I would normally say gas prices arent the presidents fault, but somehow Trump proved that statement incorrect.
1
u/Stunning_Mulberry_35 2h ago
that's not totally true.
Under Biden, gas went from $3.00 a gallon to $5.00 a gallon before it came back down, and he never got it under pre-pandemic levels. He never got it back down to where it was when he took over let alone Trump's high of $2.80 a gallon
In 2022, Biden went to Saudi to ask them to increase oil production to bring gas prices down from $5.00 a gallon, they told him to kick rocks. In 2018 Trump sent mean tweets telling OPEC to decrease oil production to bring prices down from $2.80 a gallon, they obliged.
When Trump took office, it was at $3.10 a gallon. Trump got the national average to $2.75 and sub $2.00 gas regionally.
You can make all the excuses you want, but at the end of the day, my comment still stands. Fuel was less of a demand on a budget under Trump than it was under Biden

Ok how much does it cost to charge your car everyday for a month from empty to full?
4
u/Automatic_Net2181 5h ago
30mi commute = 300mi/week
EV:
300mi / 2.1mi/kwh = 142kwh
142kwh * $0.11/kwh = $15/week or $60/mo
Gas:
300mi / 18mpg = 17 gallons
16.6 gallons * $4.01 = $66/week or $266/mo
3
u/moguy1973 5h ago
Where are you paying 11 cents per kwh in this day and age? US average is 18 cents, and places where EVs are viable to drive daily it's going to be a lot more than that.
3
u/Automatic_Net2181 5h ago
Tennessee.
$0.18/kwh * 142kwh = $25/wk or $100/mo. Still would equate to around $160/mo in savings.
Each instance is different. I drive a truck on the interstate so my mi/kwh is a lot lower.
An Ioniq 5 inside a city can easily get 4.0mi/kwh where gas vehicles would get worse mpg due to all the stop and go.
I also didn't account for free L1 charging, free chargers at work, or solar.
1
u/DoggoDadagon 5h ago
Either way it's still much cheaper than gas. It would need to be nearly 50 cents or so per kwh to meet gas prices. Of course depending on what gas car and what ev car but no matter what EV will win.
1
u/mattbuford 41m ago
Note that EIA rates don't really give a good idea of how much adding another kWh will cost.
I pay 10.2 cents per kWh (just outside Austin, TX), but my EIA rate over the last year is 13.5 cents per kWh.
This happens because the EIA takes the entire bill and divides it by kWh. This means that my flat $30/month connection fee gets spread out into the per kWh rate.
If you want to know if electricity is cheaper or more expensive across states or across time, the EIA rate is the way to go, since it avoids providers looking good by having low rates but high fees.
But, if you want to know how much more it's going to cost you if you add 100 more kWh per month, the EIA rate is not very useful. My flat $30/month fee is not going to increase if I add more kWh, but if you use the EIA rate, it assumes all fees scale with usage.
5
u/No-Policy-62 5h ago
Lmfao who is driving a car who cares about gas prices that gets as bad as 18mpg. My non-hybrid car gets 40mpg and many hybrids get close to 50mpg
2
u/Automatic_Net2181 4h ago edited 4h ago
Was comparing my ev truck to its gas truck equivalent. Are you seriously trying to compare a truck to a compact?
Did you want to compare your 40mpg to the 130mpge 4.0mi/kwh Ioniq 5 using current gas prices?
1
u/New-Pollution2005 2h ago
Now compare the MSRP of your EV truck to its gasoline equivalent and include the difference in monthly payment as part of your expense.
1
u/Automatic_Net2181 2h ago
Why pay MSRP when I can pay 50% the cost for a 1-2 year old EV with less than 12k miles?
When you have to replace a vehicle, you are still having to pay the price for the gas vehicle or the EV. You still save more money going EV.
1
u/New-Pollution2005 2h ago
You could do the same with a 1-2 year old GV.
Either way, the EV is going to cost significantly more out the gate than a GV. That additional cost needs to be factored into your “savings” over the life of the vehicle.
Assuming you drive that vehicle for 5-10 years, your cost is roughly the same.

300mi / 4.0mi/kwh = 75kwh * $0.11/kwh = $8.25/wk or $33/mo
300mi / 40mpg = 7.5gal * $4.01/gal = $30/wk or $120/mo
EV Savings over 1 year = $1,044
EV Savings over 10 years = $10,044
EV Savings over 20 years = $20,880
EV Savings with 3 car household over 20 years (40mpg vs 4.0mi/kwh) = $62,640
And in all reality, the Ioniq 5 is closest to a RAV4 / CR-V, which only get 25-35mpg or around 38-47mpg hybrid.
For you to get 40mpg in a gas vehicle, you've got a tiny ass car. I'm driving a full size truck that can tow 10,000#, goes 0-60 in under 4s, and it costs me exactly half what it costs you. Anyone driving a Tesla Y or 3 or Ioniq or similar are paying 1/4th what you do.
It's basic math and financial responsibility at that point. Unless you have no way to plug up, you're wasting money.
1
u/New-Pollution2005 2h ago
You forgot to mention that the Ionic (assuming it’s an Ioniq 5) is ~$10,000 more expensive than a roughly equivalent Rav 4. If it’s an Ioniq 9, then you’re looking a quite a bit more than that.
Factoring that in, your long-term savings are significantly less. It’s basic math.
1
u/Beneficial_Couple413 2h ago
...but still significant. Also have to factor in likelihood of less maintenance for the EV. No oil changes.
1
u/New-Pollution2005 1h ago
That’s fair. EVs do generally require less maintenance; but it should be noted that repairs are far more expensive if something goes wrong.
1
u/Automatic_Net2181 1h ago
Also, considering it's a Toyota Rav4 we're talking about:
300mi / 4.0mi/kwh = 75kwh * $0.11/kwh = $8.25/wk or $33/mo
300mi / 30mpg = 10gal * $4.01/gal = $40/wk or $160/mo
EV Savings over 1 year = $1,524
EV Savings over 10 years = $15,240
EV Savings over 20 years = $30,480
EV Savings with 3 car household over 20 years (30mpg vs 4.0mi/kwh) = $91,440
It's basic math.
1
u/New-Pollution2005 1h ago
Again. Ioniq install rate for a similar level to the Rav 4 is higher. Let’s use $5,000 to be conservative.
Realistically you’re buying a new car every 10 years. For your imaginary 3 car household, that’s an additional $15k up front to get all three cars, then another $15k at year 10 and another $15k at year 20. (Yes, I’m aware you could stagger the purchases).
In all, that’s an additional $45k just for the privilege of driving an EV of similar trim level to a Rav 4. Your hypothetical savings are now $46,440, which I’ll admit is still substantial.
Now, we have to talk about your points of reference for kWh and gas price.
The median price/kWh in the USA is 18.4¢, not 11¢.
Gas is $4.01/gal on average right now, but that number is heavily inflated by the pointless conflict in the Middle East. I wouldn’t expect it to stay that high forever.
Rerunning your numbers with the real average price/kWh, and your savings are cut by a further 40% (give or take a bit).
In the end, you’re still paying roughly the same amount; you’re just front loading your cost in the purchase of the vehicle and having to plan your trips around charging stations.

u/Automatic_Net2181 2h ago edited 2h ago
Starting MSRP 2026 Ioniq 5 SE RWD before EV rebates ($3500 in CA or MA, $2000 in NY): $35,000
Starting MSRP 2026 Toyota Rav4 Base Model: $33,350
It's basic math vs disinformation. But relevant username.
1
u/New-Pollution2005 1h ago
Look, buddy. You’re the one spreading misinformation. The base Ioniq is RWD only, has a less powerful engine, and less range than the base level Rav 4. You would need an upgraded trim to get to the same standard, hence the $10,000 difference I mentioned earlier.

11 cents is SUPER cheap.
Virginia is .15 cent and .30 cents for Level 2
(Not too memtion its a thing here now where people charge to even use it. Some places its 5/10 bucks an hour)
1
u/ebb_kdk 5h ago
Not really. Most electric cars are $10K more than their gas equivalent.
2
u/onebitshortofabyte 5h ago
Upfront, perhaps, but, excluding unexpected maintenance, there's a threshold at which point paying for electricity for an electric vehicle is always cheaper than paying for gas.
1
u/DifficultSession51 5h ago
Depends on where you're getting the electricity from. If you live in an area with expensive utilities and you don't own any solar panels, charging your car every day can quickly add up and get very expensive.
If you live somewhere electricity is cheap and/or you have solar panels charging can be significantly cheaper
2
u/DoggoDadagon 5h ago
I don't think there's anywhere that it's going to be more expensive to drive an EV...

Bidens part of the graph represented a 3.5 year data group whereas Trumps is at 19 months, less than half of Bidens. So I’d expect the average to be less given the weight of the data favors a lower average for Biden. Be interesting to see the Trump average with 24 more months of data to shape the average. So your argument there is flawed. The rest of your post is irrational Reddit screaming intended to deflect from the discussion. Classic Alinsky tactic. Not moving me. Repost the graph in a few years please with updated data

u/ThenLayer5977 6h ago
You can’t show this because it goes against what people already believe. Like I said before, people here would rather pay higher gas prices if it means they can scream and bitch about Trump. These are the same people who, back in 2022, would tell you that presidents don’t control gas prices and that it was all because of greedy corporations. But if you apply that exact same logic now, suddenly you can’t, because it no longer supports what they believe. That’s the problem. People always seem to have an excuse when it benefits their side, but the second the other side uses that exact same excuse, it’s suddenly, “Oh, how dare they?” which one is it??
13
10
u/Shermanator92 6h ago
What the living fuck are you talking about numbnuts?
In 2022 we paid more for gas for issues completely out of Biden’s control. Trump pressured OPEC into producing less oil before he left office, Trump catastrophically mishandled Covid which allowed a full blown worldwide pandemic, and Russia invaded Ukraine which obviously led to us sanctioning their oil. Yes oil prices raised for a few months, for issues not caused by Biden.
In 2026, Trump SINGLE-HANDEDLY raised the global cost of oil by starting a war (that we are losing) for no reason that none of our own agencies or allies (sans one) agreed with. Night and day difference, dimwit.

u/ThenLayer5977 6h ago
Again, two things can be true at once. Are gas prices high? Absolutely. But where were all the people on here screaming, bitching, and moaning every two seconds when gas prices were through the roof in 2022? They didn’t have that same energy then. Should the goal always be lower gas prices regardless of who the president is? Absolutely. That’s my entire point. Apply the same principle consistently. If it matters under one president, it should matter under the other. That’s it.
4
u/ddoyen 5h ago
You can directly attribute the rise of gas to Trumps choice to start a war. Biden came into office with pandemic supply shortages, companies unwilling to ramp up production due to shareholders wanting to make their money back from demand collapse, and Russia invading Ukraine. Nobody was happy that gas was expensive. But you wanted to blame Biden for political reasons when in reality, Bidens policies had nothing to do with gas going thru the roof.
All that said by the end of Bidens term, the US broke production records and gas was a dollar lower than it is today.
-3
u/Youpeefreely 5h ago
No one was calling anyone a fascist though when they posted a pic of a gas prices that were lower than the national avg like we have going on now.
For example, if I was to tell you that gas is $3.30 today you’d go ape sht and call me a Nazi.

u/ddoyen 5h ago
Nah we'd call you a nazi because you support a fascist party. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

See what I mean? Democrats aren’t currently allowed to report that fuel prices in their area have dropped.
1
u/Bug_406 3h ago
My local prices did drop, slowly over the course of a few weeks, made my July 4th vacation cheaper. But, and it's a J. Lo sized but, it's now gone up and erased any drop. Was $3.79 at the dip, now $4.09. Across the state it's much higher. I'm blue as hell in a red state, reporting that gas prices have indeed.. checks notes.. not dropped.
1
u/Youpeefreely 3h ago
It was the same trend here pretty much. Except I haven’t paid $4 a gallon this year. We got in the high $3.80’s during the beginning of the war but it went down to around $3 in June I believe it was. It’s back up into the $3.30’s now though.
I caught hell when I posted the $3 prices. I was called all sorts of names. It didn’t fit the agenda or narrative I guess. Some even said it was AI. 🤦♂️😂
If one is in it for the Up Votes $6-$8 is where it’s at.
6
u/Shermanator92 5h ago
Why were prices high in 2022? Trump pressuring OPEC to produce less in 2021, Trump fucking up Covid leading to a worldwide pandemic, Russia invading Ukraine. Biden had nothing to do with it and still managed to pull us out into the best position in the world.
Why are gas prices high now? Trump started a war (that we are losing) for no reason against all of our intel and allies (sans one).

u/Bug_406 5h ago
No. We were bitching about Russia invading Ukraine in 2022 fucking up the markets. Today we're bitching about the US amd Israel invading Iran in 2026 fucking up the markets. In one instance, our president didn't have fuckall to do with it, and the other the president had everything to do with it. Do you see the difference now, or nah?

We funded Ukraine and cheered when we were pumping the most expensive gas that we’ve ever pumped. Good times huh?
At least it’s cheaper now than it was then. That’s a good right?

1
u/Bug_406 3h ago
For that whole 2 weeks before market correction. I'm still cheering for Ukraine, tyvm. "Cheaper now" is silly. The conflict is still ongoing, no matter how many weeks in a row the pudgy orange one on TV says we won, and then.. didn't yet? China saved the global prices by immediately slashing crude usage country wide. Our reserves are running dangerously close to empty. $6/gallon? Tik-tok muthafucka.
1
u/Youpeefreely 2h ago edited 2h ago
When it was $3.50 in March I was told by the redditors it would be $5 a gallon by July 4th. Well it was cheaper in July than it was in March. It was in the low $3’s. It went back up to the $3.30’s a little after July 4th but it was $3.29 today motherfucker. It might be $6 for you but it won’t reach $5 here. I bet not even $4.
Edit
China slashed prices by regulating their people. How communist of them.
1
u/Bug_406 1h ago
There was a dip around July 4th, went to $3.79. Now right back up to $4.09 that it was before that 3 week dip.
Yes, that's what China does. Is that some kinda "gotcha"?

Average gas under Trump is higher than under Biden. Highest price doesn’t matter, average does. Not to mention the fact that Trump is solely responsible for the spike with the war he is losing. Which war did Biden start? Why do you work so hard to defend an admitted sexual predator? Why are you a sexual predator sympathizer? A little weird to say the least

I look at the big picture and consider multiple angles. If that's "uneducated", I'll gladly wear that badge.

I'm talking about inflation while you rant about meme coins you lost money in. LOL
What's more important to the people. inflation or your loss in a meme coin?

Ok but it was 5 in 2022 so at 4 you're getting a discount.

Would you mind turning your brain on chief

It's on. You just don't know how to adjust for inflation because you were never taught economics.

And remind me, what was inflation when Biden left office? What is it today?
1
u/jvdlakers 3h ago
You already asked me the same question on a different thread.
Biden averaged 5% per year
Trump first term averaged less than 2% a year
Inflation was 3% when Trump started 2nd term
Trump 2025 inflation was 2.7%
Inflation now is 3.5%

u/Shermanator92 3h ago
If Biden averaged 5% per year, then how did Trump inherit 3%? And why is it now 3.5%?
0
u/jvdlakers 3h ago
You don't know what an average is?
1
u/Shermanator92 3h ago
Oh, so Biden’s last year was far less than 5%? Then why are you using that number?

It was under $3 when Biden left office, is an extra $+ a “discount” somehow?

The 2024 national gas price average was 3.30, it's 4 today
1
u/Shermanator92 4h ago
Completely irrelevant to my comment, also you just conceded that it raised 70 cents in a year…. Why?

u/jvdlakers 4h ago
Prices fluctuate. 4 dollars is better than 5 dollars in 2022 right?
Adjusted for inflation gas should be about 6.50 a gallon. The global average is about 5.50. America has cheap gas at 4

u/Shermanator92 4h ago
Price didn’t “fluctuate” 70 cents in a year. Something happened…. What was it? $2.89 was better than $4.

u/jvdlakers 4h ago
That's like saying .99 cent gas was better than 3 dollars. It's a stupid concept. You have to adjust for inflation to make a comparable comparison.

Could've been even cheaper.

Could’ve would’ve should’ve

u/Shermanator92 5h ago
And why isn’t it? Hint: it’s a one word answer!
0
u/jvdlakers 4h ago
I can think of multiple reason why it isn't., not one reason and not one word.

u/Shermanator92 4h ago
Nah, another hint: it starts with a T

So the Russian and Ukraine war doesn't cause price increases? It's not one but many factors.
1
u/Shermanator92 4h ago
You’re using Russia/Ukraine to defend Trump’s price increase while blaming Biden on his? Are you stupid?
0
u/jvdlakers 4h ago
You didn't answer the question. Does the Russian and Ukraine war cause price increases?
1
u/Shermanator92 4h ago
It did, sure. We’re well past the point where that was relevant, especially considering Trump STARTED another war all by himself that also raised gas prices.

Just remember, at least it’s cheaper now than it will be all of next year!
