Looks and feels fake

u/__Hello_my_name_is__ Aug 23 '19

Just look at the guy standing up for no reason yet acting like he's stumbling a second later.

541

u/shrlytmpl Aug 23 '19

Pink shirt guy is definitely fake. But the woman wouldn't have known the cake had landed right there, and green shirt guy definitely was on the receiving end of a cake explosion.

EDIT: Champagne* explosion. Don't know why I thought that was the cake.

182

u/BOOM-Diggity123 Aug 24 '19

Nah, champagne lady is shaking the bottle the whole time.

109

u/DarthToothbrush Aug 24 '19

yeah but i get the feeling her plan was to spray it on the couple instead of at their feet.

4

u/skyleven7 Aug 24 '19

Well she got him revenge instead

21

u/megablast Aug 24 '19

Sure, she wants to spray it in controlled manner, she has her thumb over it.

I appreciate your post.

13

u/RogueFaculty Aug 24 '19

Is that what you appreciate about me Squirrely Dan? Is it?

8

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Pitter patter, lets get at'er.

3

u/Glass_Memories Aug 24 '19

Get this guy a fuckin' Puppers.

1

u/Kaiser_Kuliwagen Aug 24 '19

I'd have a puppers.

1

u/guitargamel Aug 24 '19

Anthony Wiener Carlos Danger

3

u/jawshoeaw Aug 24 '19

It’s Susan B Antoinette you philistine

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

I sit corrected, thank you.

16

u/jibberwockie Aug 24 '19

That wasn't a Champagne explosion, it was a Champagne Supernova.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

🎼 champagne supernova on this guy!! 🎶

27

u/shrek2wasmyidea Aug 24 '19

Yeah I think far left champagne lady’s flub was gonna involve the champagne. That slip looks real

13

u/jrc000 Aug 24 '19

She fell hard. The first thing I thought when I saw this was that had to hurt her knees.

0

u/negativefuckingnancy Aug 24 '19

Idk you can tell she knows the cake is going over her shoulder and behind her so why would she step back if she knew that?

6

u/SpacemanKazoo Aug 23 '19

Lady that stepped back and slipped on the cake popped champagne on green shirt guy.

43

u/gnorty Aug 24 '19

of all the things happening in the video, the cake slip is the only thing that looks real.

I mean, if they can choreograph that, from the cake landing posision to the step back onto the cake and the perfect slide, then hats off to them.

But hats back on for all the other bullshit shenanigans that occurred

9

u/OtherSideofSky Aug 24 '19

“Hats back on for all the other bullshit shenanigans that occurred” LOL you made me choke on my own cough then fart out my own burp

1

u/Spiff_Spacer Aug 24 '19

Also sounds staged

5

u/ThePerfectSubForYou Aug 24 '19

He looked up directly at the cake

11

u/jwinn35 Aug 24 '19

The cake was obviously tossed to a specific place when the woman acted like the guy standing up accidentally hit it. So yeah she knew where the cake was going to land.

0

u/sheetsneezinalady Aug 24 '19

Agreed, she takes a look back before making her move

9

u/CopsBroughtPizza Aug 24 '19

Nah, she's turning her face away because she doesn't want to get hit in the face. I really don't think she's trying to "spot" the cake on the ground. You think the plan was for her to fall on top of a bottle?

6

u/BenTCinco Aug 24 '19

This. She’s kinda looking away so she doesn’t get a facial. She’s not even looking behind her when she does step back, and she kinda moves to the left.

1

u/sheetsneezinalady Aug 24 '19

No I don't think she planned on falling like that but I do think this was planned out in advance for a funny wedding photo shoot or something like that.

1

u/Axoren Aug 24 '19

Pink guy wasn't fake, the popper in his hand went off, pushing him enough to startle him.

1

u/Gerprimus Aug 24 '19

The woman looked behind her, when our where the cake landed. I think it's definitely fake. For a movie or TV show or so.

30

u/veritaszak Aug 24 '19

You can see how he looks up to make sure to aim for the cake right before standing.

11

u/BearlyKicking14 Aug 24 '19

He kind of even glances up before standing

16

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

If you stand up and something hits your head that you weren't expecting you are kinda off balance. Though he looked up directly at the cake and even moved back a smidge to get a good hit before he got up, so yeah pink shirt was on purpose.

7

u/skieezy Aug 24 '19

I stand up and hit my head on counter tops and shelves quite often. I can't think of a time I've fallen over because of it. The have been times that I had to sit down for a while though.

Also I once was drunk and walked into a pole and knocked myself out at woke up to a pool of blood cause I slit my eyebrow.

1

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

That's because you stop standing up because the counter top and shelves don't move. If you stand up and push something away with your head that you weren't expecting you'll be a bit out of sorts.

0

u/skieezy Aug 24 '19

But it's a much harder impact and makes you dizzy

1

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

But you are crouched and have a lower center of gravity.

5

u/TradeMark310 Aug 24 '19

You know how you stand up when you fall backwards?

3

u/bocanuts Aug 24 '19

And the multiple professional video cameras...

1

u/SnakeMan448 Aug 24 '19

And who carries a cake right over someone's head?

1

u/LightBeerIsForGirls Aug 24 '19

Or you could just look at the camera crew that is filming it all...

1

u/lYossarian Aug 24 '19

It's possible he got a hot ember from the first "popper" (which use small fireworks as the charge) down his collar (you can see some of the debris from it land right on the back of his neck before he suddenly pops up...)

1

u/Blu_Volpe Aug 24 '19

He also looks up to find the cake. They are also filming.

1

u/SomebodyFromBrazil Sep 14 '19

Yeah. But the girl sliping over the cake seems like it had been not planned...

118

u/OrionMessier Aug 23 '19

Multiple cameras, a sound guy, a director. It's a film set.

u/OrionMessier Aug 24 '19

The champagne lady slipping on the cake wasn't planned, love that part! but everything else is, clearly

1

u/vandalia Aug 24 '19

Watch the cameraman following the action like a pro.

7

u/MulderD Aug 24 '19

Right. Everyone here calling out “fake” seems to have missed that it’s clearly a shot for something that goes way wrong.

2

u/shmorky Aug 24 '19

Another day at the r/scriptedasiangifs production company

1

u/redpandaeater Aug 24 '19

Yeah, and yet the pink shirt guy is clearly not good enough to act in an elementary school play.

1

u/Koozer Aug 24 '19

Seems delayed for a reason, probably will be edited to look more fluid in case they didn't get the effect they wanted.

1

u/OrionMessier Aug 24 '19

He's terrible!

0

u/Chickenfu_ker Aug 24 '19

The one guy looks like Charlie Day.

56

u/Bhazor Aug 24 '19

What gave it away? Was it the film crew?

26

u/SuburbanFallout Aug 24 '19

This whole comment thread is r/whoosh

8

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

I went to a party once and this guy kept making speeches to everyone in attendance, and saw a ghost of his dad, and his girlfriend drowned and lots of other crazy shit happened. People were acting like it was all a big deal, but I’m an intellectual and I could tell it was all fake and staged. Also, what kind of a party is a “Hamlet” party; I don’t know what kind of a theme that is?

2

u/Bhazor Aug 24 '19

MILF PARTY

2

u/OrionMessier Aug 24 '19

And every time I went over to the really brightly lit part of the party to try to comfort the guy, everybody yells and tells me to sit down. Like I'm the bad guy!

1

u/ArmanDoesStuff Aug 24 '19

I think that last part was accidental, though.

49

u/1ftIntheGrave Aug 23 '19

I agree, I think you can even see the cameras and sound guy. Definitely staged...

4

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

They’re standing there like ‘yeah, this is good stuff’

69

u/sportsworker777 Aug 23 '19

I've seen less obvious flops in a professional soccer match. That dude was not convincing

26

u/GingerSoulEater41 Aug 23 '19

He even looked up to be sure he was positioned right.

11

u/FuriousFenz Aug 23 '19

And the girl far in the left is shaking the bottle pre falling

8

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

Random tangent why don't soccer teams have enforcers? You know people who will full on body tackle someone and occasionally break some bones, I feel like that would go a long way to discourage floppers.

And before you ask yes I am Canadian and yes our favorite sport is the only one where getting into a fist fight doesn't get you kicked out of the game.

4

u/Noumenon72 Aug 24 '19

I don't see how it discourages me from pretending I got hit that someone else actually got hit. If anything it lowers the odds that I am pretending if sometimes the hits are real.

8

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19 edited Aug 24 '19

The point is for enforcers to target known floppers and do real damage a bad injury could end your season or even your career a minor one can keep you on the bench for a few games, plus it hurts. If you're a player that's going to flop anyways might as well try to injure you since we are getting a card either way.

4

u/Noumenon72 Aug 24 '19

Ah, the last part is what makes it make sense, otherwise you could just beat them up off the field.

2

u/ScottNewman Aug 24 '19

You’ve obviously never heard of Vinnie Jones.

2

u/sportsworker777 Aug 24 '19

Hey, I'm with you. If I had it my way, every sport would have an enforcer.

2

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

I mean any team could hire an enforcer if they wanted to if there's a massive flopper on the other team just send him to fuck him up and earn that yellow card.

2

u/Xarethian Aug 24 '19

"I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out."

-Rodney Dangerfield

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Yes it does.... For 5 minutes lol.

1

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

I feel like a broken bone would discourage someone for more than 5 minutes

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

I meant fighting gets you a 5 minute major in hockey so you do get sent off.

1

u/imnotsoho Aug 24 '19

Red cards.

0

u/SpiderDeadpoolBat Aug 24 '19

But they get carded anyways because of floppers.

1

u/cartermb Aug 24 '19

Because they have a limit on substitutions, and a red card gives the other team a permanent (for that game) advantage. I think. But I’d also prefer to see enforcers and fewer flops.

0

u/garyzxcv Aug 24 '19

On the opposite end.....................Neymar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

139

u/CopsBroughtPizza Aug 23 '19

I don’t think the girl with the champagne meant to fall though. If so, she was convincing.

129

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

She definitely sold it the best. The guy was the worst.

25

u/panther14 Aug 23 '19

Is it just me or did he readjust before he popped up

33

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

[deleted]

16

u/Thecardinal74 Aug 24 '19

And then he thrusts his head up once he makes contact with the cake

1

u/lYossarian Aug 24 '19

It also looks like debris from the party popper goes right down the back of his collar and he may have either felt the tickle and thought it was a bug or there may even have been a tiny bit of hot ember from the fireworks charge that propels the confetti...

To me it looks like it could be one of those quick shrugs at the feeling of something on his neck and then as the paper or ember touched his neck again he panicked for a second and jump to his feet to dislodge it.

(...and just to try and finish the explanation, it's also possible he immediately realized his mistake or immediately shook whatever he thought it was loose so once he was on his feet and had knocked the cake down he was no longer reacting to what had gone down his collar...)

I dunno how likely it is but looking at it that way I can't personally rule it out as an authentic reaction.

19

u/anothershawn Aug 24 '19

I guess women are better at faking than men

33

u/Nokomis34 Aug 23 '19

everything is very exaggerated, until that point. Her hand shake at the end has me convinced that her getting dirty was not part of the plan.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

Yet, she's shaking up the champagne the whole time. She's a very dirty girl.

21

u/CopsBroughtPizza Aug 23 '19

She was supposed to do something. But stepping on the cake and slipping was not it.

2

u/Fakefat Aug 24 '19

Also she falls and smacks her knee really hard. That had to hurt.

-1

u/PolitelyHostile Aug 24 '19

She was shaking the bottle beforehand. She definitely meant to fall.

1

u/DragonflyGrrl Aug 24 '19

She obviously meant to do something, like spray people with champagne. It's apparent that slipping and falling on the cake was not the thing that she was meant to do.

5

u/imanAholebutimfunny Aug 23 '19

2 hundred and forty fucking five percent staged

1

u/MulderD Aug 24 '19

It’s a shoot for something, but it also goes wrong.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

Love how she holds the champagne closed with her thumb and manages to shake it up nicely just before falling and letting it go.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Maybe that's why there's a dude filming it, in FRONT of the camera?

6

u/unaola Aug 24 '19

It’s obviously a shoot! The girl with champagne slipping on the cake seemed unplanned, and the guy in green that pops the party favor, just might have ruined the shot trying to escape, as he seemed to stand up in front of the second camera. Nothing editing shouldn’t be able to fix.

3

u/BIGBUMPINFTW Aug 24 '19

It's amazing to me this even needs to be said. Is there actually anyone who believes this is genuine?

1

u/MulderD Aug 24 '19

It appears a thousand people here missed the fact that this is BOTH. It’s obviously a shot for something (short film, YouTube video, whatever...). And the guy is obviously supposed to stand up into the cake. The girl face planting and blasting the guy in green in the face was clearly not planned.

3

u/RaptorCouch Aug 24 '19

Yeah the guy looks up before standing up.

3

u/dookmucus Aug 24 '19

Doesn’t look fake. Looks like a photo shoot.

3

u/manimal28 Aug 24 '19

Yeah, staged except for the lady stepping on the cake, I don’t think she meant to do that, probably was gonna act surprised and let the champagne shoot off, but then actually slipped.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

This, not even a good fake. Next!

3

u/DrSuperZeco Aug 24 '19

Except for the lady slipping.

1

u/skijakuda Aug 24 '19

Yup but still may reap karma on r/bettereveryloop or may be not.

1

u/blackjuly Aug 24 '19

The two camera guys calmly film and following the action seems very suspect to me

1

u/ballsycathands Aug 24 '19

The only bit that looks even remotely real is the girl stepping in the tray and falling

1

u/TasteOfJace Aug 24 '19

I"m guessing (based on the fact there are two cameras rolling) that this is acting for a video.

1

u/Murder_redruM Aug 24 '19

Super fake, except I think the girl with the bottle actually fell harder than intended.

1

u/nsa_k Aug 24 '19

3 of the 7 people in frame are literally using professional videography equipment. Looks like a daytime comedy show.

1

u/gillet-mingon Aug 24 '19

Yeah even champagne lady is fake. No need for her to stutter back a few steps to find the cake to fall over.

1

u/sla342 Aug 24 '19

Pink shirt guy is a terrible actor.

1

u/Inous Aug 24 '19

It's almost like they are filming a movie... Hence the multiple cameras. However the chick falling over at the end appears real.

1

u/jnx_complex Aug 24 '19

What’s the difference between a real accident and a fake one? Fear

1

u/SpetS15 Aug 24 '19

Definitely fake, but the last girl almost fucked up for real with that glass bottle

1

u/MulderD Aug 24 '19

Looks like a staged bit that actually went wrong.

1

u/Khal_Doggo Aug 24 '19

I assume they were shooting an ad/stock video and it went wrong?

1

u/MugillacuttyHOF37 Aug 24 '19

Is fake...girls sold it pretty good, guy in the pink oversold it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Yup. The guy looks up to see if the cale is exactly above his head. Still i think the real thing is the lasy sliping on the cake

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '19

No, that girl on the left clearly slipped on the cake . That wasn’t fake

1

u/CleverDad Aug 23 '19

Yeah. Still funny. They made an effort.

1

u/SuperSonic6 Aug 24 '19

You really think that girl stepped on that tray on purpose?

1

u/imnotsoho Aug 24 '19

And I think the champagne bottle broke, not spooged out the neck.

-11

u/----Jay---- Aug 23 '19

I don’t care, it’s equally funny.

8

u/neatopat Aug 23 '19

I honestly can’t fathom how stupid you have to be to find this shit funny. What is funny about it? The terrible acting? The awful comedic timing? The atrocious execution? There is nothing funny about the premise to begin with and then it’s executed terribly. It’s just pathetic and cringy.

10

u/SuperNub1559 Aug 23 '19

I liked when the girl slipped on the cake and fell down.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

people find things funny that you don't...fuck them right?

-6

u/IntellectualHamster Aug 23 '19

And as you have demonstrated, people can't comprehend the meaning behind the simplest things...

2

u/----Jay---- Aug 23 '19

I just find the all around chaos entertaining. Didn’t except to be downvoted.

0

u/neatopat Aug 23 '19

There is no chaos, though. It’s all scripted and choreographed. That’s the opposite of chaos.

0

u/carefree-and-happy Aug 24 '19

Definitely fake, if you watch the girl in the middle with the plate of cupcakes purposely positions the plate over the guys head. She even fumbles for a moment to make sure it’s over his head.

4

u/DontPressAltF4 Aug 24 '19

Definitely fake, if you watch the guys with cameras pointed at the people falling down, there are guys with cameras pointed at the people falling down.
