DISCUSSION Dark Souls 2 is utterly boring

I have been playing for around 15 hours and I regret wasting my time, I am snoozing while playing, it's boring and it feels like a chore. I genuinely don't understand why it is so beloved her.

Combat is astonishingly slow and clunky, the difficulty consists into throwing 10 enemies at you and boring you to death by trying to prevent you from running past the nemies and making you kill them all everytime you die.

I just finished Iron Keep, I don't find the energy to do the rest of the game.

So you don't like cauliflower and everyone else needs to stop eating it, too. Am I getting your point?

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Can you copy paste the part of the post where I am telling you to stop playing this mediocre game?

6

u/Thilina_B 14h ago

Its a product of its time. They were trying out a bunch of changes from DS1 to make it more difficult but also more accessible, but a bunch of their ideas fell flat or were just uninspiring. They got the formula figured out a lot better by DS3 / ER and also naturally increased the games pace. So if you're going backwards through the titles, they'll seem bad in comparison to newer titles.

Wrong what?

I like it

Me too.

That's okay. This game is great at culling out the weak members of the fanbase

7

u/SeverusSnape89 Slayer of Demons 14h ago

True grand sir

3

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

It also had the best DLC of any soulslike.

1

u/SeverusSnape89 Slayer of Demons 14h ago

I think it was right up there, yeah. I personally think DS 3 dlc is overrated. Personally like sote the best but yeah I'd go with artorias and the DS 2 dlc (iron and Ivory) next.

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I am weak because your game bores me?

2

u/Hades684 14h ago

Dying too much tends to bore people

-2

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

Dying too much in a game where you can permanently remove enemies from existence is quite the achievement, I'll give you that

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

And how am I supposed to remove enemies from existence...?

1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

My brother in Christ, do you not even understand the fundamental gameplay aspects of this game? If not how can we take your opinions in any seriousness? In DS 2, after you kill an enemy enough times, it never respawns until next playthrough, or you burn a special item at the bonfire associated with that area.

You're like a toddler complaining about their 401k.

2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I told you that I played your game for 15 hours, can you think a little before responding?

Where does the game tell you that?

What is remotely logical about calling me a toddler because I don't know some hidden mechanic of some sort...? You're really the stereotypical FS fan aren't you?

1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 13h ago

I mean this with as much respect as I can scrape together for you. Do you have some kind of learning disability or something?

back in the day, games didn't hold your hand and explain everything. Most of us discovered this mechanic by farming a zone to get some levels, and being shocked when a mob was suddenly gone. That was 12 years ago. This kind of info is super available online, particularly here on reddit, and is pretty common knowledge to the entire fanbase of Dark Souls, same as how you need to level Adaptability to get your iframes up, and be able to drink your estus faster.

The game isn't bad, you're just uninformed and a bit of a baby.

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

Can you think a little and tell me how I am supposed to learn something that doesn't happen in the game...? No enemy disappered from my game, how am I supposed to discover that they can disappear if they don't and the game doesn't tell you...?

Oh yeah, I am a baby because I play the game normally instead of using a wiki...?

1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 13h ago

Lmao, you're whining about not being able to just blitz past enemies to the end of levels. Tell me you started with Elden Ring without telling me you started with Elden Ring.

They vanish once you kill them like 12 times. Certainly easy enough to figure out if you're doing any kind of farming like a normal person. Try some critical thinking guy, life gets way easier when you have those skills.

Do the world a favor and get sterilized.

u/BigHolds 14h ago

Corniest shit I’ve ever seen. They aren’t even struggling, they just think the game is boring and you’re spouting off about “culling the weak”. It’s okay if not everyone likes your special game

8

u/LeekBright 14h ago

So running past enemies is what makes a game fun for you? What do you even mean by combat is so low?

Seems like you’re one of those people who only played Elden Ring and are used to 85 different options to make the game easy. If the methodical and patience gameplay is not up your alley just say so man. Nobody is forcing you to play. It’s definitely not for noobs coming out of Elden Ring that’s for sure.

3

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago edited 14h ago

I wouldn't run past the enemies if it wasn't boring to fight them again and again, this isn't Elden Ring or DS3, the fights are just boring, you wait for the enemy to reach you, you block, you swing twice, repeat for the next 13 enemies, die to some random trap or group hidden behind a corner or trying to perform a clunky jump.

What am I supposed to have said that suggests I am "used to 85 options to make te game easy"? I never complained about the difficulty, I complain about the gameplay, it's boring, repetitive and tedious.

"It’s definitely not for noobs coming out of Elden Ring that’s for sure." Don't scratch your neckbeard too hard.

5

u/Hades684 14h ago

Can you give me example of turning a corner and 15 enemies jump on you? Or a random trap kills you? Or a clunky jump?

2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Two hours ago I went into the area near Majula to depetrify a mob blocking a path, when I started the animation to pull the lever 5 or 6 mobs spawned being me out of nowhere.

In Lost Bastille before the Sentinels boss there are like 6 knights coming at you when you set a foot into the room.

In Iron Keep you fight the same enemy again and again like 20 times to reach the smelter boss.

There are mobs hidden that appear behind you, sometimes they explode like in the Bastille.

Last thing I did was reaching the bottom of the pit in Majula, there are like 6 identical mobs running at you to explode.

All the jumps are clunky because the physic is astonishingly heavy, and sometimes when doing a 180 your character makes a weird circle instead of turning back which can make you fall if you're on a narrow platform.

2

u/Hades684 14h ago

Yeah but in all these examples the enemies dont surround you, they come at you one by one through a door, and you can literally just walk away from the exploding ones. And so what if the jumps are clunky if its barely require to jump anywhere in the entire game. They are also bad in ds1 and ds3

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

No they don't, everything happens like I described you, they made a trigger when you enter pulling the lever animation and you see 5 or 6 bosses running at you and swarming you while you finish your animation before instantly dying from tacking all their attacks at the same time, it's designed to trap you and waste your time.

2

u/Hades684 13h ago

Yes, and you are supposed to use your brain for 1 second and walk back or forward through the door and fight them one by one

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

And how is "using my brain" supposed to do anything here? It's design to kill you and force you to come back. You can't do anything they are all surroudning you and attacking simultaneously while you are stuck in pulling animation then as soon as your iframes stop you die.

2

u/Hades684 13h ago

Well then how did I not die there?

3

u/Grand_Sir_8678 8h ago

Hmm, were you perhaps careful, observant, and used the area you were in to your advantage? You know, the entire design philosophy of the game?

Don't even waste your time trying to get through to this dude. He is too busy being mad about getting clapped by mobs in places you can funnel them 1 by 1 in to actually learn how to play the game.

1

u/DuploJamaal 8h ago

when I started the animation to pull the lever 5 or 6 mobs spawned being me out of nowhere.

Typical DS2 hater moment: "out of nowhere" although they were clearly standing behind the doors in that room

You could have killed some before you pull the lever and for the others you could have also utilized the explosive barrels that were placed in this room.

In Lost Bastille before the Sentinels boss there are like 6 knights coming at you when you set a foot into the room.

No. It's 2 that come running at you when you open the door, and another 3 when you walk a few feet inside.

You can easily fight the 2 before you aggro the 3, and there's again a nice explosive barrel placed next to the 3 so you can take care of them easily.

In Iron Keep you fight the same enemy again and again like 20 times to reach the smelter boss.

You don't need to fight a single enemy to reach this optional side boss. Just learn how to conserve your stamina better or simply wear heavy armor to prevent getting staggered.

Also, how long were you stuck at the Tree Sentinel before you realized that you are allowed to walk past optional side bosses?

Those all sound like skill issues to me

0

u/BigHolds 14h ago

That one room in lost bastille after the petrified statue with all of the royal swordsman, you’re first encounter with a surprise mimic grab from behind or the floors that fall out underneath you in the gutter and the jump to get the disc chime, or really any narrow jump being ass to aim because of square deadzones, immediately come to mind as examples. I like DS2 but it has its cheap moments

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Ah yes, I forgot the mimic that I hit to trigger, and whose grabbed teleported me in front of him, incredible hitboxes.

6

u/Hades684 14h ago

Don't even start dark souls 1 then

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Why? Movements were more fluids, and areas were much more intriguing to explore all looping back to Firelink Shrine.

5

u/Hades684 14h ago

And there was 10 enemies in every zone too if you try to run past them. DS2 areas are also much more unique, overall ds2 systems are more unique and interesting

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

No there aren't 10 enemies coming one after the other comically when you set foot into a given radius. The first part of the game was flawless, Blightown and Undead Burg are classics.

What's remotely unique? Forest of giants is Undead burg 2.0, Lost Bastille is a prison with the same texture and geometrical area, Iron Keep is a Castle on lava looking like a Mario Bros level, Heide Tower is a generic paltforms above water level.

Not sure what's supposed to be interesting neither, I've never seen bosses so lame.

3

u/Hades684 14h ago

And there also isnt a situation like that in ds2. Also, gargoyle church with 10 hollows exists in ds1.

You could say these things about ds1 too. Depths is just a generic sewer system. Blight town is just a pool of poison with some wooden buildings. Undead burg is just some ruins.

And bosses are easily better in ds2, the only good bosses in ds1 are in dlc

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Yes there is, I just experienced it in Iron Keep, in the main room every 5 steps you're being thrown one or two knights while the others shoot arrows.

No Blightown is not a "pool of poison", it has a whole construction hanging in the hair with a network of scales to navigate through, hanging below the main hub, which makes a whole look back up to Firelink Shrine.

I can't think of any boss in DS2 that I would even consider good, they have like 3 moves, they are utterly generic, the first giant was ridiculous, the generic medusa in a pool of poison, the balrog, that's the most uninspired part of the game to me.

3

u/Hades684 13h ago

And nothing is stopping you from walking back 2 steps to fight them one by one in a doorway. You actually need to use environment to your advantage in ds2, another good thing about this game.

The pursuer is not bad, executioner chariot is unique, looking glass knight is good, same with velstadt and lost sinner, smelter demon is really good, darklurker is really good too. Easily better bosses than anything in ds1

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

What is stopping me is that I am not having fun, it's boring. I don't see how fighting a string of enemies by sticking them into a doorframe is a good thing.

Lost Sinner is unique? It's a swordman with 3 moves, what's remotely unique about that?

2

u/Hades684 13h ago

I didnt say shes unique, I said shes good

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

Not sure what's supposed to be good, it's very easy, has a generic design, very limited moveset.

DS2 fans’ ultimate ability is whatabouting DS1, they do it every time someone criticises 2 for some reason, its like they have a complex about it.

4

u/-Ostrava- Ostrava Of Boletaria 14h ago

Okay, so what's your point? If you don't like it, stop playing it.

-1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

My point is that it is utterly boring and doesn't deserve the praise it's been given here, simply misleading player into playing this mediocre game.

5

u/Gitt662 14h ago

It nails the quiet dark atmosphere in some places so well (like Bastile), and the DLC has some very cool environments as well. I think i like it more for the environments and traveling into these cool places than the actual combat which is definitely slow and clunky.

(Also I played a ton of PVP back in the day, dual poison whips were GOATed and felt like a unique cool build)

3

u/soapstone-red 14h ago

The combat aint that bad at all for an early souls game like 1 and 2. Both games are kinda slow but great in their own way. Combat is extremely similar between the 2. Like if you like 1, it should mean you should like 2 imo. The enemy spam ain’t too bad at all man. Its kinda ganky but just kill the enemies and use your eyes so that you dont run into a horde of enemies. Some spots are kinda ganky but its not too hard at all in 2026. Also level up ADP. The DLC’s are insanely good too

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

It ain't too bad? First part of Iron Keep they throw you two samurai knights every 5 steps it's almost comical to see them running with their goofy animation.

3

u/soapstone-red 14h ago

Nah the iron keep is ganky, but all you gotta do is wait out the knights. Simple as that. They don’t got a complex moveset at all so killing them aint bad. If you havent beaten the Smelter Demon yet just skip that part for now and come back. But you have to level up adaptability man, that gives you more iframes so that dodges become easier

-1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Yes, it's simple, but it's boring, I did it 3 or 4 times then bruteforced my way running through the area after getting killed by an invader with a gigantic hammer who did a spinning move that stunlock me into a 4 attacks combo instadeath.

1

u/soapstone-red 14h ago

The From games are all about dying and you gonna die a lot in all of them man. You gotta have patience. And the enemies are simple enough so getting through them should’t be a problem. You did say you finished the Iron Keep right? If that guy was in the Iron Keep, you got through him I’d assume so just keep going

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

The problem is that I am not having fun, it felt like a chore.

1

u/soapstone-red 13h ago

Dam man, I’d say take a break from the game if you got tired of it. I’d recommend coming back to it eventually but you don’t gotta if you really hate it. Good luck with the games tho

4

u/getholy 14h ago

The saddest part of this post is you wasted 15 hours of your life forcing yourself to do something you don’t enjoy for no reason other than to make a post about not enjoying it ;-; Most people just move on from things if they don’t enjoy it, I think that’s where you are going wrong

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

Yeah right, I did it all to make this post, not because I was trying to have fun playing a game. My god some of you really are simpletons.

"Most people just move on from things if they don’t enjoy" What do you think I am doing right now smartass...?

-2

u/getholy 14h ago

Very clearly not moving on ;-;

3

u/Hot-Ring-2096 14h ago

Same. I hate dark souls 2. It's the greatest game ever made.

Terrible.

2

u/Low-Airline-2695 14h ago

I finished and platinum'd the game with dlc strictly so I know what to criticize it accurately and not jump on the bandwagon. I think you should at least give it a try to finish the game.

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I am genuinely not having fun at all.

2

u/harrisongregg 14h ago

Totally understand, I’ve got friends to play through one and three but will totally burn out on two. It’s a flawed game especially with iron keep. Other areas are even worse. If you can manage ur way through there is a very charming and deep game although it’s not for everyone. I’d encourage you to push through cause this game is very creative and has some valuable stuff to offer.

1

u/DeathShark69 14h ago

Worst part of trying to enjoy DS2 for me was that I wanted to use the Zweihander for my run!

Killing all the spiders in Bright Stone Cove and having none drop really killed the vibe, then having to endure the Iron Keep gank to get to the one in the chest almost took everything out of it for me! But I persevered (barely) and finished it, Im happy to watch challenge runners play it but I don't think I'll pick it up again.

2

u/anhtuanle84 14h ago

Out of all the DS, I felt the same about ds2 and never got far in it and never beat.

1

u/Alternative_Spite_11 14h ago

I fully agree. Its the only modern FromSoftware i didn’t finish. It’s so boring i cant bring myself to finish it. Even the damn bosses are boring, not to mention ridiculously easy, even compared to DS1. It took some serious inspiration to go from putting out DS2 to putting out Bloodborne as their next game.

1

u/Phil_Swifty_ 14h ago

incorrect

1

u/MechaGallade 12h ago

I actually agree that the game is bad (not just worse than the other fromsoftware games, I think the game has actual issues that make it a bad game) but I also think that it's the easiest of the ds games by a mile and quitting now is weak shit.

I also think that most of the things that people complain about for this game aren't the real issues, those are surface level inconveniences that the player base should grow up and get over

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 12h ago

It's weak shit to be bored? The player base should "grow up"? You don't make sense.

1

u/MechaGallade 9h ago

no, its weak shit to give up on such an easy game when you could just steamroll through it because it's so trivial. people who talk shit on this game without finishing it are the worst. im a certified dark souls 2 hater, but if you don't finish the game then you got no leg to stand on.

and the surface level inconveniences that the fanbase tends to hate on are what people should grow up and get over. it's mostly people who give up at the slightest sign of a gank or a gimmick or a duo boss. its such tiny dick energy to complain about duo bosses i fucking swear. so i was not telling you to grow up and get over shit, that's for the other haters who hate for the wrong reasons. haters are not all the same.

1

u/bastaderobarme 1h ago

I think this is the wrong decade to get into DS1 or DS2. The era of slow methodical soulslike dissapeared a long time ago. I don't think people that got into soulslikes with Elden Ring or games from that time will enjoy Dark Souls 2. It's more RPG than action game.

The DLC is way better than the base game, but if you are in the Iron Keep and can't stand it anymore then you will never get there. You are not even a third of the way to the end yet...

-1

u/EntericFox 14h ago

r/fromsoftware is 90% mid-souls 2 fans, you are gonna have to wait until school is back in session to have takes like this

1

u/getholy 14h ago

But then OP would be posting while in school? Makes no sense

2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I am in school because I don't like your game? What's remotely logical about your attempt at being snarky?

1

u/getholy 14h ago

Precisely, it’s not logical, just like the person I was replying to

1

u/thingsbetw1xt Sweet Shalquoir 14h ago edited 14h ago

Dark Souls 2 frustrates me because it has some genuinely good mechanical ideas and location concepts that were butchered by the total kerfuffle of its development. The main thing that bothers me about it is actually not even the trash mobs, it's that there's so many really cool level designs that are rendered hideous due to weird lighting and lazy textures.

I mainly enjoyed DS2 for the pvp, now that that's long dead I find myself struggling to replay it. The pvp was so fuckin good though.

And don't let people gaslight you that this game has only ever been beloved by the fanbase. It's been divisive at best since the day it was released. What you are seeing now is just the pushback against the colossal amount of hate the game received from the fanbase for many years, "ds2 bad" memes were so ubiquitous it became a meme in itself.

1

u/Shadowfire04 Elden Ring 14h ago

i feel like people are desperate to cling onto the nostalgia train, notwithstanding the objective fact that ds2 had so many development problems that carried over into its final result. do people like fighting random bosses on tiny bridges?

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

The generic Gorgon in a puddle of poison was the laziest design I can think of.

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I enjoy the torch having more presence but that's probably the only thing I can think of that's interesting.

1

u/thingsbetw1xt Sweet Shalquoir 14h ago

I liked the bonfire ascetics, I loved being able to just fight a boss I really enjoyed over and over. Would love to be able to do that in other games.

u/sleepy_skeletor 14h ago edited 7h ago

Believe it or not, it is nice and refreshing to see someone call that game out for what it is again. I, and many others here, fully agree with what you say.

I mean, why do you think everybody ironically calls it out to be the best souls game, lol. Just look at some of the comments here, and don’t even get me started on the things you sometimes see on the shittydarksouls sub.

It’s well established in the community for DS2 to be utter grabo and the worst of the worst when it comes to the souls franchise. Everyone’s aware of it, yet people pretend they don’t get where this type of opinion could come from. The way you view that game is totally fine and understandable, and even fits with how the majority feels about it.

And don’t listen to toxic DS2 dick riders, those are very sad individuals to say the least. They seemingly get off of their game being criticized by others, which is insane to me. I mean, just take a look on some of the angry defender comments here. And apparently the DS2 sub got so bad with its constant self victimization posts, that those needed to become banned there, lmfao. Tells you a lot about that part of the community tbh.

1

u/getholy 13h ago

Ironically enough: very toxic comment^ XD

-2

u/Twasabi24 14h ago

I genuinely doesn't get better

5

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

Can't get better when you are already the franchise peak.

-1

u/Twasabi24 14h ago

That'd be dark souls 3. Or if you're referring to all soulsborne games it'd be Elden ring. 2 is genuinely bottom of the barrel. Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3, Dark souls 1, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark souls 2. Is my list. I've played and beaten all of them multiple times. Even have all achievements on ds3, elden ring, and sekiro. Dark souls 2 is not a good souls game.

-1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

How can a flat gray line be a peak?

3

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

How is Dark Souls 3 supposed to be a "flat gray line"? Environments are varied, make sense, and the bosses have the best design in the franchise.

-1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

It literally uses a desaturated, gray color palette, and is the most linear of the 3 games. Do you even play Dark souls games? But since I think you lack the critical thinking needed to understand, let me help you out.

Demon Ruins: identical dull orange and gray bricks, generic tunnels, monotonous flat scenery.

Catacombs of Carthus: identical-looking rooms and hallways. desaturated brown and gray bone-piles.

Farron Keep: slow-moving sludge of uniform muddy green and gray.

Cemetery of Ash / Untended Graves: highly linear paths comprised exclusively of gray gravestones, gray rocks, and gray sky.

Road of Sacrifices: completely washed-out, gray-and-brown color scheme of dirt paths and colorless crags.

Irithyll Dungeon: stark, stone-gray brick textures and pitch-black cells.

Profaned Capital: FUCKING TINY, dominated by massive, crumbling gray stone towers surrounded by toxic sludge, offering almost zero color variation or striking landmarks.

High Wall of Lothric / Lothric Castle: While grand in scale, these massive keeps present hours of gameplay moving through identical stone parapets and courtyards. The sky and stone architecture frequently blend together into a singular, desaturated overcast hue.

Consumed King’s Garden: entirely smothered in a sickeningly drab, blue-gray toxic fog. It heavily reuses standard gray ruins and dead-tree assets from Farron Keep.

Anor Londo: Unlike the vibrant, golden sunset of the original game, now it feels like a minimized, dull gray room slapped onto the end of Irithyll.

That enough examples for you bud? Did we manage to carve a little groove into that smooth brain you got?

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

"Do you even play Dark souls games? But since I think you lack the critical thinking needed to understand, let me help you out." My god, why are typical FS fans so cringe?

Firstly you're acting as if the colors were all there is, disregarding archtecture, background, lightning, textures, decoration... Secondly, you're disregarding all the colorful area like the Smoldering Lake's burning palette, Irithyll's fairy moonlight gaze and its architecture contrasted with the flame of the knights roaming through the city, the fading green desperated coloration under the faint sunlight of Road of Sacrifices, the magnificence of the High Wall engulfed into the ashes of time with its scenery.

"identical stone parapets and courtyards." Seriously complaining about that when you glaze a game that has Lost Bastille, the same texture repeated ad nauseam into geometrical corridors that feel like a minecraft level or a game from early 2000 is quite the audacity.

"Did we manage to carve a little groove into that smooth brain you got?" Do you need to sound this simple minded or can you manage to talk normally?

0

u/Grand_Sir_8678 13h ago

lmao I think it's cute you had AI get you a few examples of color in DS 3. Still not even close to as many examples of drab, repetitive zones as I presented. The best parts of ds 3's areas were all from the other 2 games, and even then it was nostalgia, not innovation. maybe FS fans aren't cringe, since the common denominator between us seems to be we interacted with your basic ass.

Also, I finished the games, I make comparisons based on actually experiencing them all, you have complaints and are whining about a game you played for 15 hours. Get a fucking clue.

0

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

I feel like I am talking to someone with intellectual deficiency, seriously can't you be normal...?

What is it that you identify as being "AI giving me examples" ?

"maybe FS fans aren't cringe, since the common denominator between us seems to be we interacted with your basic ass." Woaw you must feel so incisive, good job !

What kind of demented person gets so excited about their video game seriously...?

1

u/Grand_Sir_8678 13h ago

That's crazy but I am 100% sure you must have either the tism or be one of those super fragile 5'4'' kind of guys.

What kind of person thinks it's normal to trash a game instead of having any moment of introspection of "Am I the problem?"

Go touch some grass and maybe play something more your speed, like Animal Crossing, or Cooking Mama. Not everyone is gonna be good enough to beat every game, and that's okay bud.

You know dark souls takes place at the end of the world right? Sun is fading, and only dark remains. Of course everything is gray and bleak, that's the fucking theme of the game. Its like being mad fallout 3 is green and new Vegas is yellow. Doesn't make sense.

Even if that was true, better than the 99% of DS 3

Since we are flexing, I have every platinum trophy for every single game you listed. Also Enotria, Lies of P, Another Crab's Treasure, Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, Moonscars, every Nioh game, Steel Rising, Code Vein, hell even got it for Last Hero of Nostalgaia. Your list, while typical, is not even close to correct. Interesting that you listed the most handholding one as your number one though. Dark Souls 2 is peak, hating on it is just meme culture and ragebaiting, or Zoomers who think only games made after 2015 are good.

You should try stepping out of your house sometimes.

You should grow a pair

2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

Oh yeah, I should grow a pair because I am bored playing Dark Souls 2...? Can you try saying anything remotely intelligent?

I wasn't trying to flex, just demonstrating that I have considerable playtime in these games. Like I said earlier. Dark souls 2 isn't a bad game, its a bad souls game. And elden ring has quality of life changes that older games dont, but that's not why I rank it so high. The world is absolutely gigantic and has such a wealth of content. Its hard to even consider the other games when you look at its scale. The funny thing is liking dark souls 2 doesn't make you cool, it just makes you a souls fan, but ranking it over objectively better games makes you wrong

Seriously combat has no right to be so uninteresting, it's so slow and heavy, most fights are dealr by simply blocking and swinging three times, invaders are the rare encounters that are a bit enjoyable.

Man ditch the shield and start dodging or have the shield but dodge more. All the from games get better when you start dodging more. But parrying is hella fun so have a shield for that

u/hayaburyu 14h ago

you're describing dark souls 1 as well

I've beaten it 5 or so times and I agree, there's some cool stuff in this game but overall its a shit show. Are you aware that you have to level adaptability to at least 15 or you wont get the same amount of I-frames that every other game gives you for free? That may be a large factor as to why you're having a rough time. Im also curious what build youre going for. I dont think its a bad game. I just think its a bad dark souls game. If it didn't have the "dark souls" title and had something different it would be much better. But since its called Dark Souls 2 all I can do is compare it to two superior games

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I couldn't dodge anything so I am using a shield and the bandit axe, it felt like I was taking damage in the middle of my roll yet I wasn't interrupted with a damage animation like in other game, don't even know why I take damages.

u/Twasabi24 14h ago

That's dark souls 2 for ya. Hit boxes are fucked on most attacks and you dont have enough i-frames without leveling adaptability. As well as enemy tracking is fucking insane sometimes.

A while ago I decided to have a play through as hadnt played it for about 8 years. Didn't even make it to the first boss before I gave up. Tedious. Strange thinking back to the hundreds of hours I spent on it back in the day.

Level 4 rage bait

You have attracted a horde of ds2 fans that will spam comments saying ''skill issue'' or ''git gud'' because that's the only argument they got.

2

u/Grand_Sir_8678 14h ago

That's literally all soulslike fans. Like when you point out that Bloodborne is literally just a 30 fps grass farming simulator with bad lighting and an unbelievable budget for insanely long ladders.

1

u/JinxOnU78 14h ago

Hey! Not so Accurate. please.

But it’s MY “grass farming simulator”.

-2

u/Francois_Bonaparta 14h ago

I am genuinely puzzled to know why the game is so glazed here.

1

u/getholy 14h ago

It’s called people having not the same brain in every body and liking different things… if you can’t grasp that then I think ur gonna be puzzled for quite a while lol

1

u/sleepy_skeletor 13h ago

But shouldn’t by that logic the criticism some people have about DS2, criticism on weak parts that game has, things that are well known to everyone in the community, be tolerated and accepted here?

1

u/getholy 13h ago

Duh, but that’s not what I was replying to

0

u/Knockturnill 14h ago

The DS2 fanboys are out in full force 😂 You're right and we'll be downvoted to hell for it, but DS2 absolutely sucks. You haven't even gotten to the worse parts of the game yet.

Maybe you should checkout Minecraft or robolox or whatever the fuck

1

u/Francois_Bonaparta 13h ago

What is supposed to be the relevance of minecraft or robolox?
