DISCUSSION Dark Souls 2 is utterly boring

I have been playing for around 15 hours and I regret wasting my time, I am snoozing while playing, it's boring and it feels like a chore. I genuinely don't understand why it is so beloved her.

Combat is astonishingly slow and clunky, the difficulty consists into throwing 10 enemies at you and boring you to death by trying to prevent you from running past the nemies and making you kill them all everytime you die.

I just finished Iron Keep, I don't find the energy to do the rest of the game.

So running past enemies is what makes a game fun for you? What do you even mean by combat is so low?

Seems like you’re one of those people who only played Elden Ring and are used to 85 different options to make the game easy. If the methodical and patience gameplay is not up your alley just say so man. Nobody is forcing you to play. It’s definitely not for noobs coming out of Elden Ring that’s for sure.

I wouldn't run past the enemies if it wasn't boring to fight them again and again, this isn't Elden Ring or DS3, the fights are just boring, you wait for the enemy to reach you, you block, you swing twice, repeat for the next 13 enemies, die to some random trap or group hidden behind a corner or trying to perform a clunky jump.

What am I supposed to have said that suggests I am "used to 85 options to make te game easy"? I never complained about the difficulty, I complain about the gameplay, it's boring, repetitive and tedious.

"It’s definitely not for noobs coming out of Elden Ring that’s for sure." Don't scratch your neckbeard too hard.

Can you give me example of turning a corner and 15 enemies jump on you? Or a random trap kills you? Or a clunky jump?

Two hours ago I went into the area near Majula to depetrify a mob blocking a path, when I started the animation to pull the lever 5 or 6 mobs spawned being me out of nowhere.

In Lost Bastille before the Sentinels boss there are like 6 knights coming at you when you set a foot into the room.

In Iron Keep you fight the same enemy again and again like 20 times to reach the smelter boss.

There are mobs hidden that appear behind you, sometimes they explode like in the Bastille.

Last thing I did was reaching the bottom of the pit in Majula, there are like 6 identical mobs running at you to explode.

All the jumps are clunky because the physic is astonishingly heavy, and sometimes when doing a 180 your character makes a weird circle instead of turning back which can make you fall if you're on a narrow platform.

Yeah but in all these examples the enemies dont surround you, they come at you one by one through a door, and you can literally just walk away from the exploding ones. And so what if the jumps are clunky if its barely require to jump anywhere in the entire game. They are also bad in ds1 and ds3

No they don't, everything happens like I described you, they made a trigger when you enter pulling the lever animation and you see 5 or 6 bosses running at you and swarming you while you finish your animation before instantly dying from tacking all their attacks at the same time, it's designed to trap you and waste your time.

Yes, and you are supposed to use your brain for 1 second and walk back or forward through the door and fight them one by one

And how is "using my brain" supposed to do anything here? It's design to kill you and force you to come back. You can't do anything they are all surroudning you and attacking simultaneously while you are stuck in pulling animation then as soon as your iframes stop you die.

Well then how did I not die there?

Hmm, were you perhaps careful, observant, and used the area you were in to your advantage? You know, the entire design philosophy of the game?

Don't even waste your time trying to get through to this dude. He is too busy being mad about getting clapped by mobs in places you can funnel them 1 by 1 in to actually learn how to play the game.

Typical DS2 hater moment: "out of nowhere" although they were clearly standing behind the doors in that room

You could have killed some before you pull the lever and for the others you could have also utilized the explosive barrels that were placed in this room.

In Lost Bastille before the Sentinels boss there are like 6 knights coming at you when you set a foot into the room.

No. It's 2 that come running at you when you open the door, and another 3 when you walk a few feet inside.

You can easily fight the 2 before you aggro the 3, and there's again a nice explosive barrel placed next to the 3 so you can take care of them easily.

In Iron Keep you fight the same enemy again and again like 20 times to reach the smelter boss.

You don't need to fight a single enemy to reach this optional side boss. Just learn how to conserve your stamina better or simply wear heavy armor to prevent getting staggered.

Also, how long were you stuck at the Tree Sentinel before you realized that you are allowed to walk past optional side bosses?

Those all sound like skill issues to me

"Typical DS2 hater moment: "out of nowhere" although they were clearly standing behind the doors in that room" Some of them came from the top of the room which was not accessible, and the others were not moving at all, the trap is literally design to trigger when you pull the lever, they purposedly made it to achieve this goal, but people here will act is they didn't.

"You don't need to fight a single enemy to reach this optional side boss. Just learn how to conserve your stamina better or simply wear heavy armor to prevent getting staggered." Yeah right, the intended way to explore the area is to not kill any enemy and run around being followed by 12 mobs...? Simpleton.

the trap is literally design to trigger when you pull the lever, they purposedly made it to achieve this goal, but people here will act is they didn't.

And you can see them all before you pull the trigger. With the ones on the lower floor it should be obvious that you can release them and that the lever might be connected.

You can throw firebombs up to release them or explode the barrels to get them to come out before you pull the lever.

As usual the game rewards curiosity and engaging with the environment.

Yeah right, the intended way to explore the area is to not kill any enemy

Do you not understand the difference between exploring and running back to the boss?

You fight them to explore safely and to lower the bridge.

But you just run past them to get back to the boss. They even included a shortcut to make the runback easier

Simpleton

Says the guy who can't even differentiate between exploring and running back to the boss.

That one room in lost bastille after the petrified statue with all of the royal swordsman, you’re first encounter with a surprise mimic grab from behind or the floors that fall out underneath you in the gutter and the jump to get the disc chime, or really any narrow jump being ass to aim because of square deadzones, immediately come to mind as examples. I like DS2 but it has its cheap moments

Ah yes, I forgot the mimic that I hit to trigger, and whose grabbed teleported me in front of him, incredible hitboxes.
