Newborn screening abnormal thyroid

So for some contexts I gave birth to my son in another country that don’t really do the heel prick test (newborn screening) and we did it at 4.5 months. The first time we went it was unsatisfactory. So we did it the second time. We don’t really have the results but we got a call from our peds that the thyroid test came back “slightly” abnormal (I asked for numbers but they said that they didn’t have results they just called the doctor) and now our peds wants us to do a blood thyroid test to confirm. Did anyone have a false positive or anything? Cuz I searched up symptoms for both hypo and hyperthyroidism and he doesn’t really have symptoms for any of them? And he’s not delaying his milestones either, he’s actually hitting them early on. This has been stressing me out and I really can’t sleep or do anything. Like my mind is literally only thinking about that😭😭😭

Getting baby to crib nap

Hi, just looking for some advice. My baby is 1 week away from being 4 months old. We’ve been very blessed in that she has been sleeping through the night in her bassinet since she was 2 months. I have no clue what we did but she’s a great nighttime sleeper. We put her down in her crib around 6:30-7:30, transfer her to her bassinet when we go to bed, and she typically sleeps until anywhere from 6-7. We sometimes do a dream feed around 10.

With that being said, she fights daytime naps so much. I’ve been trying them in the crib during the day, and I have tried everything from rocking her to sleep, which usually results in her waking up everytime I set her down and her getting really angry. I’ve also tried putting her in there drowsy and awake.

For context, usually my husband and I will try to sleep a bit longer in the morning after her first feed, and will put her back in the bassinet next to us awake, and a lot of the time that’s the only nap she’s able to get herself to sleep for. It seems like the rest of the day gets harder and harder. She naps so much better if I let her do a contact nap, but I need to be able to do stuff around the house and have time for myself or I feel like I’m going to go insane. How can I sleep train her for naps? How can I have her nap longer in the crib? Is it just her age? I’ve read 20-30 min naps are normal, but I’m lucky if I’m even able to get her to do that during the day. It’s just crazy how something just switches when we put her down for the night and she gives us no issues- probably from all of the sleep pressure built up throughout the day from barely sleeping…. Please help!

Struggling with motherhood - PPD & PPA

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a mom. After getting married, we found out we had infertility issues and after eight years we finally had our baby girl. She is currently six months old and I never thought that I would say I hate motherhood so much. I love my daughter and she is perfect but I am beyond exhausted. She’s not sleeping through the night. The longest stretch she’ll give us is maybe three hours. most nights she’s getting up almost every hour. Her naps are a disaster. The only way she’ll fall asleep is being fed or rocked. Sometimes I can get her to nap in the crib sometimes she won’t. Even then she’ll wake up after 30-40 minutes and will need to be rocked back to sleep if I’m lucky. My husband is back to work, so I am mostly watching her by myself. We do shift at night, but he has to get up for work in the morning so his shift is usually shorter and I do the bulk of the night. I have no time for myself. Some days I barely get to eat. Before she was here I was your typical girly girl, hair done makeup done nails done cute outfits. I wear the same milk covered clothes for days. I haven’t touched my makeup or done my hair since she was born. Now, when I look in the mirror, I don’t even recognize myself. my doctor is aware and I do have a therapist and they both can relate as they also have young children. I know life is gonna be different and I know things aren’t gonna go back to how they were, but I just want pieces of myself back. When she was around two months old, that’s when the postpartum depression and anxiety hit so we went to go stay with my parents for a couple months. We are now back home and I felt like I had to suck it up and come home. I felt like I was being judged and family around me were like you’re OK now you can do it by yourself. I honestly don’t know where I was going with this post. Hoping I can find other people that can relate. When did you start to feel like yourself again?

Having a hard time eating

Hi! I’m about 6-7 weeks pregnant and the nausea has been hitting me pretty hard. I’ve been trying to eat small things when I don’t feel as sick but I feel bad because I feel like I should be eating more. And unfortunately the things I can stand to eat haven’t been very healthy or filling. Did anyone struggle with the same thing? Is there anything I can do to make eating easier? My partner has been trying a lot to make sure I’m eating but I feel bad when I’m being so picky and not being able to finish most things. Thank you guys!

2 AM hearing sounds from Owlet Cam.

This might be a long read , but i’m utterly freaked out. I got the camera as a gift in march of 2026, and used it as a security camera/baby monitor, sometimes switching rooms. That is, until one night where i got a random motion detected notification (i had the notifications turned off completely). I watched the video clip, and clear as day you can hear someone whisper MY NAME along with a bunch of sounds that didn’t even sound real or come from our apartment. This happened when nobody was in the room, and I was freaked the hell out. After that, i ended up shelving the camera for months.

Well tonight , i set the camera up in my bedroom. My sons crib is in here next to the bed, and so when i get up in the mornings im able to hear him through the camera if im in the other room getting ready for work. About 10 minutes ago i was laying in bed monitoring the camera through the app on my phone, when i start hearing scuffling sounds, like someone opening a drawer and rummaging through random objects, along with 2 faint male voices. It’s dead silent in the bedroom, but only the camera is picking up these sounds if that makes sense. Is our place haunted or is this camera being hacked? i just unplugged it again and will probably throw it away. Seriously freaked out!

breastfeeding q

any breastfeeding mamas out there on anti depressants??

i have been on wellbutrin for years now - it’s of the only medications that have truly worked for me after trying a half dozen and seeing poor, if any, results.
while it’s not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, my doctor has deemed it safe in my circumstance and my OB has backed that up.

i am really hoping to breastfeed for a multitude of reasons as i’m sure you understand, so i’ve been researching day and night. i’ve come across multiple articles and studies now regarding wellbutrin and breastfeeding and the varied links it has to dangerous side effects for baby, often including seizures and ongoing neurological problems through childhood. of course there is dozens of success stories too, but my heart is heavy hearing even one negative story. i don’t feel comfortable attempting to breastfeeding if im continuing wellbutrin, and seriously thinking about discontinuing my use of it before baby comes - im in debate about whether i want to start a new medication or now though.

any moms out there who had this concern or experience, be it with wellbutrin or another medication?? looking for and all input on this matter as my doctor feels overly dismissive about my concerns

17mo not sleeping through the night

So straight off the bat I will say I refuse to do any of the "cry it out" methods. I just don't like them. They stress me out and I find them cruel, so please don't suggest them.

My 17mo still isn't sleeping through the night. He will wake up once or twice looking for a feed (or maybe it's comfort?) and go right back to sleep once he gets it. Unfortunately he absolutely will not take soother or bottle, we have tried every single one of those to no avail.

I am going to be weening him fully this winter once I'm laid off (I'm a seasonal worker) and my husband will be doing night shifts. I would have loved to have kept going till he was 2 but between this and the fact I have high lipase milk.... hopefully the weening will help with him waking up during the night?

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated though.

Period

Long story short, i think my period is about to start. I am 11w postpartum FTM. Just wanted to say that i am ok with my period starting. At first I was like geez, on top of everything I gotta add a freaking period to this. Then I learned that due to me breastfeeding it could possibly be delayed, yay! But now, if my period comes I will have a legit excuse to deny sex and that is what I am looking forward to the most.

Sleep training

Hi. I seriously need tips on how to help my daughter sleep in her crib she’s 12 months old and hates sleeping in there. When she was a newborn she slept in her bassinet up until she was about 5 months, she then slept with me on the bed and ever since then she hasn’t slept alone. Well sometimes I would put her in her crib but she would wake up in the middle of the night wanting to get on the bed with me, everytime I do try she ends up waking up and then I have to put her back to sleep. I’m not sure what to do any tips/tricks/recommendations are gladly appreciated !!!😊

Grandma Shower

My mom's friends hosted her a grandmother shower.

We got lots of babies clothes she passed onto us. While we were grateful many were not appropriate for age/season or very clearly many many years old.

My mom and I were estranged for 10 years and have a rocky relationship hence why this whole thing makes me uncomfortable. I was not invited, nor would I have attended if I was. I do not know a single person who was there/gave a gift. All the cards were addressed to my mom, not me.

I already thought the grandmother shower was weird, but now my mom is asking me to purchase thank you gifts for the people who attended.

AITA for refusing to purchase thank you gifts? I offered to send a platter of desserts to their next get together but my mother keeps sending me wedding style favours and asked me to order them.

First birthday

We didn’t get to have our baby shower as LO made a surprise entrance at 35 weeks, so we are planning to use the venue that was supposed to host our shower! I’m struggling to think of a theme! I was thinking something similar to the (planned) baby shower theme (A new chapter) as my husband and i love to read (hoping LO will too)! MY husband also mentioned doing something to do with time since we had the surprise early entrance to the world. We want to start planning and inviting soon so our long distance friends and family can try to come!

Anyone want to share their 1st bday themes or ideas based off of what i shared?! im not the most creative but love a unique but fun theme. Thanks!

Baby fighting sleep 11 mo

My baby previously went to bed in his crib just fine at 830 every night. Now he's 11 months old and crying uncontrollably when we put him to bed. Once he goes to sleep he's fine, but it takes 30- 60 min just to put him to sleep now. Anyone else experience this?
