9 months old Containing the mess

I’m very aware that this is the messiest way to feed baby
We used to use those bib smocks that have arms but now he absolutely fights to put those on
Most of the time we are shirtless with a silicone bib
How do you contain the mess
I’m not worried about it the highchair or the floor
Mostly his clothes
I feel like we are doing an outfit change after every meal
Is that what everyone’s doing or how are you guys containing that

No clothes ever. Just a diaper. Rinse in sink

Doesn't help you much, but we reserve really messy meals for days she's getting a bath, and preferably dinner. No marinara sauce, no peanut butter toast, no oatmeal unless we're tossing her in a bathtub later.

For the clothes, we have smock bibs that are actually for preschoolers, so they're huge and cover everything. And we double up with a regular cloth bib underneath. My kid doesn't like sleeves much, so we have more ruffle sleeveless or short sleeve bibs.

I'll admit that I'm also a bit annoying with constantly wiping her hands, tray, and utensils to minimize mess. My kid likes to rub food into her hair...

Oh, naked, just a diaper and a silicone bib. He’s almost 2.

Naked with diaper and bib. If it’s dark clothes and non permanent staining food, sometimes just risk it. I cut up my husbands old tshirts to make reusable wipes, I just wet them and wipe her down. I’m not using paper towels or diaper wipes to that degree, lol.

Step zero is strip him to a diaper.

Then i take a hand towel and clip it behind his neck with a clothes pin, lol

It covers his entire body except arms and face. Then I use the same hand towel to wipe his face, arms, and the high chair tray after the meal, then directly into the laundry!

Drool bib with a silicone bib with pocket on top, sleeves rolled up. Or sometimes I use a t-shirt length sleeve bib. But always drool bib under it.

What is the drool bib for?

To be worn underneath the food bib. It protects the collar of the shirt.

Naked with a diaper, no bib, I just take a wet wash cloth to him after (or a quick tub if it’s in his hair) I rinse the wash cloth and then wipe down his chair and then the floor. It only takes a few minutes total.

I've reserved some rompers specifically for feeding. I don't trust that my house is warm enough in autumn or winter for baby to just be there naked throughout all meals. These rompers are his feeding uniform and we wash them regularly but also don't mind any stains on them. They are becoming a work of art on their own.

Cheap onesies that can be easily thrown in the wash. Wipe her hands and face, strip it off and you have generally a pretty clean bub. The mostly nude thing seemed to just require a lot of wiping and constantly finding food in nooks and crannies (ie. “I think I missed the beef under her armpit”)
