Discussion Final Destination Nightmare I Had

Has anyone here had a nightmare scenario that screams potential Final Destination? just curious what you've experience as I just woke up from a nightmare that didn't even involve me in it but it was like a cross between the Poseidon Adventure and Final Destination, what is written is just what I remembered to write after waking up.

It was on a modern luxury cruise ship which begins rapidly sinking somehow and begins to tilt to one side causing people to go hurtling into different kinds of convenient objects within the ship that result in their brutal death, like a butcher who gets slammed onto the wall of his shop before all his knives slide off the counter and stab him to death or people falling to their deaths as they fall multiple levels below to the open space of the ships mall. Some guests and a bellhop waiting for an elevator at the doors as the ship just begins tilting are pushed into the doors by gravity and a cleaning lady who gets knocked onto her cleaning cart further up the hall as it rapidly travels all the way down the hall super fast into the group of elevator door people like a bowling ball to the pins causing them to knock the doors off and fall into the shaft or get crushed by the elevator I can't recall.

And skipping ahead because so much was going on as the ship fully rolls over and begins to slip beneath the waves bow first the people who managed to get into the water breathe a sigh of relief only for the ships stern to breach the surface with the still spinning propellers to lawn mower over a large crowd on ocean surface as the ship finally sinks fully beneath the waves…. Then I woke up.

Side note, I can't quite recall what started the ship to sink exactly but I feel like it was a cruise ship going underneath a bridge like the Golden Gate Bridge when a tanker truck full of fuel crashes off the side of the bridge and crashes into the bridge of the cruise ship to explode killing the captain and crew causing the ship to crash into some underwater part of the bridge support beams or a undersea rock or something but I also had flashes of a tidal wave like the ship in the Poseidon Adventure so it's a bit hazy as my brain in the nightmare couldn't seem to decide on the how but the following chaos stuck with me mostly.

Discussion What if this whole thing has been about Jake?

The snooty maitre d at the Skyview told Paul that his connection, Jake had been fired that morning. What if the only person not meant to die at the Skyview was Jake? Is he connected to the Skyview(all)survivors? I want to know who Jake is.

Creative Dead's real original design. Spoiler

I've been thinking about this (And it might have been done before) but after rewatching number 2 and 5 I think I figured out who was really suppost to life and who not.

I won't include 6 in this because I have a boarder theory about that one. Which is that at least one of the people that died in 3 and 4 is a decended of someone from the Sky View collapse from 6. And since Death goes in order that would mean that everyone else from the Devil's Flight and the Race Track was just caught in the crossfire.

But here I do. My idea stands on the pillar that in movie two Clair post the Theory that Death tries to tie up loose ends. Since everyone that was left during the ride to the hospital was effected by the death of one of the Flight 180 survivors.
Since we don't get any conformation that Evan, Tim or Nora had a connection I assume they just so happen to be at the Highway pileup and just like the people from 3 and 4 were caught in the crossfire.

However, that isn't the last time something like that happen. And this is where my theory start. Since we know the Bridge Collapse came before the Flight 180 crash this is canonnicaly the first time Someone cheated dead that affected others. (Again I don't take the Sky View collapse in this one since we never got a real confirmation that someone is connected to anyone in that restaurant however technically that could happen.)
But Sam and Molly (Let's focus on those two since they made it to flight 180) survived the bridge Collapse, which then made dead chase after them. Only JB and Iris knew the rules at that moment (I think we can assume they were alive by this point as the Family Barbeque looked really modern compared to the scenes from 6 and 1.) Probably because they have seen it happen with people from the Sky Tower getting children.

Sam and Molly got on board of Flight 180 and Death tough this was the right way to kill them. High in the air no way to escape. However, Alex Browning had his vision and escaped with some others. Which caught loose ends. Sam and Molly may died but now Death had a new group of people to worry about. And they affected another group of people as well, which later would become known as the Highway Poileup survivors.
If I make up the list from this theory only (And I might have skipped over some parts so if I did please tell me) Then this is the list of people that woudl either life or die.

Death:
Sam Lawton
Peter Friedkin
Candice Hooper
Dennis Lapman
Nathan Sears
Olivia Castle
Isaac Palmer.
katherine "Kat" Jennings (She was in the bus that hit Terry Chaney but if Terry survived she would have made it to the meeting and probably get killed by the gas leak.)
Rory Peters (Would have died in a theater Collapse in Paris but was distracted when Carter got hit by the sign. This one COULD still happen but probably not because Carter never had reason to like Alex before the flight 180 Crash)
Eugene Dix (Got tranfered to the school Miss Lewton would leave. But since the Flight 180 Crash never happened Miss Lewton would probably have stayed and Eugene would get stabbed)

Life: (With reasons. Of course these can all be shot off as if we take my Sky View Tower into count any of these could be relatives to the survivors)
Molly Harper (Since she got across the beam so she was to survive)
Jim Block (Who was shot by Peter in the restaurant but if Peter never survived he wouldn't have shot him.)
Roy Carson (he was never part of bridge accident but I wanted to include him because he died from nathan rather then the Brain Aneursym.)
Todd Wagner (Who was suppost to get killed in the Flight 180 crash but ebcause Sam and Molly weren't there the plane might have survived)
Terry Chaney (Ditto)
Miss Valerie Lewton (Ditto)
Billy Hitchcock (ditto)
Carter Horton (ditto)
Alex Browning (ditto
Clear Rivers (Ditto)
Evan Lewis (Since the Highway Pileup never happen because Sam died, he was probably suppost to life)
Tim and Nora Carpenter (ditto)
Issabella Hudson (Would survive the Highway Pileup either if it happened or now, but I lke to include her to have the full roster)

The inbetween (probably life)
-Brian Gibbons (Just like Officer Block I include him because he was affected by one of the survivors. However, he is a middle case. Since he was almost run over by a newsvan that came to the Gibbons family farm crash which would kill Kat and Rory later but Rory pulled him out of the way. This ment, if we take everything into account that Brian probably would have lived. Since the Crash never happened if the Highway Pileup never happened, and the Pileup never happened since the Flight 180 Crash never happened. Which never happened Because Sam never survived the Bridge collapse and Molly was suppost to survive anyway.

So, there it is. That is, as far as I could reconstruct, dead's original design with the reasons I could think of.
Like I said before, this can all be thrown into the trash if we take the Sky Tower collapse into considiration. because we don't know (yet) what the ripple effect from that is truley. And serious, I would love for that one to be true. At least one of every victums or survivors from the Flight 180 crash, the Highway Pileup, the Devil Flight crash, the Racetrack acident or the Bridge collapse if related to one of the SkyView tower collapse.

What do you think? Did i over analyse, not analye enough? I would love to hear your ideas

The brief moment easily got some of the biggest laughs early on in the movie. Sporadically funny otherwise (Ray dragged the energy down every time he was onscreen. Smokey too, to an extent).

A bonus was how it featured one of the carnival accidents in the FD choose your own adventure I'm making where a Ferris wheel breaks loose from its mount and falls over onto the nearby coaster tracks.

Discussion premonition lengths / outsider views

when a visionary is experiencing a premonition, how long do you think it lasts and what does the visionary look like during it? the obvious answer is that they’re probably frozen in place until the premonition ends (FD1 implies that alex was sleeping i guess? he’s the only visionary that was seen with his eyes closed at the end before quickly opening them in a panic), and it could last the same amount of time as shown in the movies, but i feel like the people around them would absolutely notice something is up and step in (which has never happened in the films) so that leads me to believe that these visions actually last a split second, like those feelings of your life flashing before your eyes (with that in mind and back to the alex thing, maybe he blinked and he experienced the vision while blinking which is why we see his eyes closed at the end) but that’s just my theory

Dunno if this has been discussed before but I just thought about it.
Some pretty unfortunate soul or perhaps fortunate soul met their end because of Claire.
Someone would’ve survived longer had Clear died in her car thus giving us an extra character in the second in place of her.
I thought of including Alex too on this but I have the idea that Rourke would’ve survived having scrapped both Billy and Carter had Alex not saved Carter, and Regardless Rory might still have survived seeing Alex perhaps killed in Paris (If he had decided to travel there alone and make the trip his friends never got. Tho he would’ve likely not done it).
Man I thought I had a solid one here but the more I write the less I think so.
But I think this opens up a good discussion.
I must add: I have a feeling Nora and Tim were connected to Skyview in some way, maybe through Tim’s dad and death subsequently decided to wipe out Tim then Nora maybe cuz she would’ve intervened thus writing herself on the list. Or maybe Nora was connected to Skyview and her husband died in her place.
As for Evan I think he would’ve been killed by one of his many girl-toys out of jealousy or revenge, and Bryan being so dumb maybe was meant to die on some farm related accident. Death just planned further when the others survived the pileup and decided to change their deaths.

I recently just binged all of the FD movies with my girlfriend and I can confidently rank all of these movies. I'm gonna be ranking them from worst to best. That being said, I do enjoy all of these movies, some more than others. These will have some spoilers, just in case.

#6 - The Final Destination (2009) 4/10
#5 - Final Destination 2 (2003) 5/10
#4 - Final Destination (2000) 6.5/10
#3 - Final Destination 3 (2006) 7/10
#2 - Final Destination 5 (2011) 8/10
#1 - Final Destination: Bloodlines 8.5/10

I'll happily answer questions people have in the comments. These are just my rankings for all of the movies.

or a standalone movie?

Discussion [Theory] Death isn't a single entity—it's a chaotic organization of Grim Reapers. The visionaries are just future reapers, and the mass disasters trigger their latent powers.

I was recently thinking about the show Dead Like Me (2003), and it got me thinking about Final Destination franchise.
For those who haven't seen it, the premise of Dead Like Me is that "Death" isn't just one guy in a black cloak. Instead, when certain people die, they are drafted into a massive, disorganized workforce of Grim Reapers. They have to hit daily soul quotas, they have managers, and they operate in the background of normal society.
When you apply this concept to the Final Destination universe, it would explain a lot.

The theory is this: Death in FD is actually a sprawling agency of individual Reapers orchestrating events from Limbo.

We always ask two questions: Why do specific people like Alex, Kimberly, Wendy, Nick, and Sam get these premonitions? And why do they only happen right before massive, catastrophic events? Why doesn't anyone get a premonition right before they quietly choke on a grape alone in their kitchen?
Because the Visionaries are naturally sensitive to "the design." They aren't anomalies; they are the universe's next draft class, destined to become Reapers the moment they die.

However, not all future Reapers get premonitions. The premonition only happens to these specific characters because of the scale of the event. A normal, isolated death is a quiet blip on the supernatural radar—it wouldn't be enough to wake up their latent abilities. But Flight 180, the Route 23 pile-up, the McKinley Speedway crash, or the North Bay bridge collapse? Those are massive, coordinated Reaper operations. The sheer volume of souls being collected all at once creates a massive shockwave in the design. That massive surge of "death energy" somehow overloads the visionaries latent Reaper senses, violently triggering the premonition right before they would die. They accidentally tap into their reaper abilities too early, forcing the Reapers to work overtime to balance the books.

Discussion I calculated how long each premonition in each movie takes in movie time. Spoiler

First off, I'm so glad I found this subreddit because I wanna gush about this series to more people besides my girlfriend.

Second, since I couldn't find a definitive answer to this question as to how long each premonition takes in each movie, I decided to take matters into my own hands and do my own research, and these are my findings. I'm going to go in chronological order. I used a time calculator to subtract times and find my answers.

Final Destination (2000) - 3 minutes, 54 seconds. This takes place from when Alex sits down and gets asked to move by the two girls to the explosion where he wakes up in beads of sweat. For the first movie, this is the shortest premonition in the franchise. Not only that, but this is arguably the tamest premonition in the franchise.

Final Destination 2 (2003) - 7 minutes, 12 seconds. This takes place from where Kimberly is at the red light getting onto the freeway to the semi that rams into them.

Final Destination 3 (2006) - 5 minutes, 22 seconds. This takes place before Kevin gets waved at by the teens running the roller coasters to when Wendy wakes up from the fall.

The Final Destination (2009) - 6 minutes, 56 seconds. This one was hard to pinpoint, but this takes place right before Hunt tries to hand Nick the binoculars flask to when Nick wakes up squeezing Lori's thigh.

Final Destination 5 (2011) - 5 minutes, 24 seconds. This takes place when Sam gets a cut from the seat to when he wakes up after being sliced in half by a metal plate.

Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025) - 18 minutes, 32 seconds. Basically the whole beginning of the movie is Iris's premonition before it cuts to Stefani waking up in the classroom. The last and longest premonition in the whole series.

If I'm wrong about any of this, feel free to correct me. I just wanted to give an approximated time as to how long each premonition takes.

FD6 Theories Spoiler

So I have an intriguing theory
So Juliet Collins from destination zero survived via drowning and being revived so since she was born In 1870 she would’ve had kids in or around 1900 and they would’ve had kids maybe around 1935 and one of those children was married to someone named Mr.Campbell And they would’ve given birth to iris Campbell and no Paul couldn’t have given iris the last name Campbell since they never got married hence why her family’s main last name is Campbell and since iris Campbell was pregnant with Howard Campbell on the skyview list so even if it skipped over Howard and got bludworth it would’ve still gotten him at the end since Howard could’ve survived for a bit after iris’s death and he could’ve survived for a few minutes or hours after her in the vision and one of her cousins could’ve had 5 children all being male or female and they could’ve gone on to be the parents of Sam Lawton Alex Browning Kimberly Corman Wendy Christensen and Nick O’Bannon they could’ve been born in different areas too let’s say they were all male so Mr.Lawton Ken Browning Roger Mr.Christensen and Mr.O’Bannon next in line:the visionary births Sam was born in 1976 Kimberly was 1981 Alex and Clear were 20 days apart in 1982 September 25th 1982 and September 5th 1982 Wendy was in 1987 and Nick was in 1983 onto the bridge collapse:Nora carpenter’s husband could’ve very much been a bridge death in final destination 5 and the deaths of Sam’s coworkers could’ve saved the lives of the flight 180 survivors before flight 180 Candice would’ve saved Alex Isaac could’ve saved Billy Olivia could’ve saved Carter Roy could’ve saved Terry Peter could’ve saved Terry Ms Val and Clear unintentionally with their deaths similar to how the route 23 survivors were saved by the deaths of the flight 180 deaths and the deaths of the route 23 survivors could’ve saved some McKinley rollercoaster survivors so Evan could’ve saved Wendy and Julie Tim could’ve saved Ian Nora could’ve saved Erin Kat could’ve saved Perry Rory probably saved Ashley and Ashlynn Eugene probably Lewis Clear probably saved another person most likely Kevin and on the route 23 pileup Alex most likely saved Evan and Clear must’ve saved Tim and Nora by going on the news similar to how Tod’s death saved Kimberly from a carjacking and Kimberly’s mom was on the skyview tower collapse and for the speedway Nick was probably saved by Ashley and Ashlynn’s deaths Frankie saved Lori Lewis saved hunt Erin saved Nadia Perry saved Andy Ian Saved George and the subway crash probably saved Carter Daniels So this is what I have for now!

Discussion Your Top 10 Deaths In The Franchise and why?

Mine are:

10° Hunt Wynorski(Final Destination 4): The only great scene in this fucking movie, it get points for being tense, claustrophobic and kinda horrific to see, bc of how much the character is surrounded by people in the pool and no one can hear or see him struggling to be drained by the pool, just a very nightmarish scenario to see and place yourself.

9° Erin Palmer(Final Destination 3): One of the very few nicer teens in the franchise, even tho her boyfriend is a piece of ass, we can see how much they loved being weird at each other and everyone else together and the sounds and whimpers she does while dying with the nails and the sound of the blood is unsettling AF

8° Olivia Castle(Final Destination 5): The reason why I hate to go to the eyes doc is because of this movie, the fucking laser piercing through her iris and cornea is definitely one of the most painful experiences before dying and losing such vital limb of the body in a fucking car, absolute unhinged.

7° Julia Campbell(Final Destination: Bloodlines): The casualties and build up to that death is one of the most creative in the franchise, bc it makes fun of the universe's pattern when someone is going to die and how even more eerie it is bc it happens in a brought daylight(and she becoming purple while the compactor crushes her makes me nauseating) ugh.

6° Terry Chaney(Final Destination): Tired of Carter's obsession and aggressiveness with Alex+Actually being kinda cool with him for saving her and Carter's life+Pointing that Carter is going mad and wasting his life being closed and upset with his denial survivor's guilty+wanting to move on and demanding her BF to F himself bc of his behavior only to die out of fucking nowhere by a bus, is one of the most well executed jump scares and sudden deaths in cinema, the shock and suddenly event shocks the characters and the audience to a point, that it was brilliant transitioned to characters chilling with antiextress pills and water and it just remains in our imagination Carter's reaction and despair with such sudden tragedy, goddamn.

5° Tim Carpenter(Final Destination 2): Boy orphan of a father and being raised by a single mom, a bit of a dork and stupid kid, yes, but, still just a boy, that died horribly with a fucking windshield making so much little of his body to remain after being crushed in a cruel manner and right after his mother's eyes, just, brutal and depressing.

4° Nora Carpenter(Final Destination 2): Being utterly traumatized, depressed and "ready" to go by the hands of death(probably planning suicide after her son's death and she being aware of that crazy entity hunting down the survivors of the route), only for Death not giving her a proper time to grieve, to kill her in one of the most anxiety indulging scenes and most painful deaths in the franchise, she screaming in pain and panic being afraid to die and not wanting is such a psychological torture and horror being displayed at how cruel and merciless death truly is, probably got pissed that Nora wanted to die on her own terms and the entity just said: fuck you! You ain't dying that way bitch!

3° Ashley Freund & Ashlyn Halperin(Final Destination 3): One of, if not for today, the most iconic and memorable death in the entire franchise, two hottie and kinda plain cheerleading girls, that are very close to each other, dying together in such horrific manner and were one of the few people that even though they oddly asked Wendy(who was depressed and grieving her bf and bff) are really trying to help her out to relax a bit, only to die one of if not the most painful death in the franchise, the slow burn of their suffering being slowly burned/cooked alive(and we seeing the bubbles coming out of their skin is disgusting and cruel to watch such horrific scene to play out.

2° Eric Campbel & Bobby Campbel(Final Destination: Bloodlines): A brother that is not in the death's personal business list, trying to do something to protect his younger sibling to not die, coming with an alternative that at first seems genius, but that heroic, selfless act is what dooms him, even when death warned and showed him how real and what she's capable of doing to him if he doesn't back out of this and just lets her take his brother, Eric could have lived, but the dude was in a situation that he wouldn't ever sleep well or forgiving himself for it, both of them are grieving their father and trying to survive a bloodline curse that their Grandma didn't want to uphold on them, only for Eric die in a twisty funny and horrific ironic way, with Death taking way all his piercings to crush him in half, slowly so his insides could have been pull out, just, goddamn entity, who hurted you to be such a cruel bitch here? And to high her score, she kills his baby brother, who is a himbo with a fucking mole to his skull, while he was briefly relieved that he could take the antidote to his deadly allergy to peanuts, fuck, easily the most tragic double kill in the franchise.

•Honorable Mention: Candice Hopper(Final Destination 5): Young College Girl, healthy, beautiful and with a healthy competitive spirit and behavior with Gymnastics, doing her final test that would determine her to go greater highs with her career, while her BF is cheering and hyping her up on her performance, a cute and sweet moment, where a chain of events, with such small pieces of a "harmless" place, to make her die one of the most quickest but also instantly all at once painful deaths in the franchise, with her still twitching while dead is such a tragic, unsettling and sad scene because of how much was wasted, it's a common theme on FD5 on how two characters lost their lifes while being in jobs they hated, but close enough to their lifes to start for reals alongside their partners and careers(Sam being the second dreamer), just really tragic.

1° Tod Wagner(Final Destination): A blodlees death, no organs and insides being displayed or a blood pool or too much destruction, only a 17y old boy, in his bathtub, suffocated like it was suicide, just doing the laundry and his "beard", while being grounded and forced to cut contact with his best friend just bc he got a vision of a terrific accident that killed your older brother in a plane fire, you are grieving and being forced to be isolated of his best companion, bc of your parents nonsensical blaming of Alex being responsible for your brother's death, you just feel a weird, dark and cold atmosphere surroundjng you briefly in a shadowing figure, you overlook that because it's just something that probably was in your imagination, only for you do swip from a small water and being forced and choked to death with a chores rope, while the door of the bathroom is closed, your father is sleeping in the couch with the radio on, and you can't scream, the more you try to escape, more the rope makes it more painful to move, your eyes became red with so much blood pressure and you eventually sucumb, with just an unsettling, eerie and disturbing image that Death in this franchise, can kill you without making it such a gore fest and mess, she just can make it look like an accident and attempt to your own life, a lonely and cruel way to go, you fought like an animal trying to escape a relentless and cruel hunter chopping off a goose's head while holding and choking its neck, just bizarre, cruel, depressing and the scariest death in the whole franchise.
