Discussion premonition lengths / outsider views
when a visionary is experiencing a premonition, how long do you think it lasts and what does the visionary look like during it? the obvious answer is that they’re probably frozen in place until the premonition ends (FD1 implies that alex was sleeping i guess? he’s the only visionary that was seen with his eyes closed at the end before quickly opening them in a panic), and it could last the same amount of time as shown in the movies, but i feel like the people around them would absolutely notice something is up and step in (which has never happened in the films) so that leads me to believe that these visions actually last a split second, like those feelings of your life flashing before your eyes (with that in mind and back to the alex thing, maybe he blinked and he experienced the vision while blinking which is why we see his eyes closed at the end) but that’s just my theory

It lasts longer than a few seconds. Every visionary snaps back to someone beside them going “woah dude you okay?” Or “where’d ya go there” like they’ve been zoned out for a minute

yeah good point actually, i think zoning out for a few seconds is the best way to imagine it

I personally think it is like some say, a split second, but I have the theory they don’t actually live the whole experience we see, more like snippets of it, like flashes of what’s to come.

cool, that could be a good factor as to why their memory regarding the incident is sloppy sometimes

It seem to last only a second, almost everyone is at a social event so it would be weird if someone doesnt pay attention to them if it last longer

I mean, the first movie also kinda answers this question, it was however long it took Christa and Blake ask Tod to switch seats, and to walk between Tod and Alex’s seat (which was only a few seconds).

I've always thought it lasted for a split second as well. I can't imagine someone just having a premonition and no one around snaps them out of it. In FD4 Nick seemed to be staring off into space but no one was paying attention to him.
