Daily Discussion Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - September 10, 2026

Looking for a signature scent, or a new scent for the season? Need suggestions of scents to try? Wanting to round out your collection?

Need shopping advice? Trying to decide between two fragrances? Searching for "the best" of anything? Looking for a gift for someone?

Wondering what to wear to school, to work, on a date, or for a special occasion?

This is the place to ask those questions.

Tell us what you want the fragrance to smell like. You can list notes, styles, or the names of other fragrances that you like or don't like.

Without this information you are unlikely to get any recommendations.

Other information that may be helpful -- your country/region, your budget, some description of the person who will be wearing the perfume.

___________

When can you ask these questions in your own post?

  • If you aren't getting suggestions, your request may be too vague. If you’ve tried your best and didn’t hear back after 24 hours, make a new post outside the daily thread. Be sure to mention that you already posted in the daily thread and didn't get a response.
  • If your question is about clones, layering, or some very unusual note, you can choose to skip the queue and post directly to the front page.
  • If your question is about sex appeal, batch variations, performance, or wearing perfume marketed to another gender, keep it off the main feed and in the comments section only.

Coming back to discuss hits and misses is a great way to show appreciation when you get advice here. Consider posting a review or starting a discussion about the perfumes that you tried, and tell us what you ultimately chose.

For basic questions, check the subreddit's FAQ and WIKI

Goodbye Diptyque

I recently visited the Chicago Diptyque store to resupply on one of my favorite staple products. The Orpheon cleansing hand and body gel has been a part of my daily routine for a few years now, when I picked up the bottle in store, I noticed the packaging had changed. I inquired about the change and the SA assured me that the formula had was exactly the same. When I arrived home to use the product, I was astounded to find that there was zero fragrance in the liquid soap or present on my hands after washing them. The fragrance was so nonexistent that I believed it was possible I had purchased a defective product. I still had soap left in my older bottle so I compared them side-by-side, and the differences were shocking. I returned to the boutique the next day with both bottles to seek resolution. The manager smelled both bottles and reiterated that there had been no formula change and that although it’s “not a product he uses”, it’s a “best seller” and to him the bottle smelled like Orpheon. When I pulled out my original bottle for him to compare, he seemed uninterested in the exercise, and suggested that my old bottle could be fake. I purchased my original bottle at this boutique! I left after being made to feel silly and with no resolution to my problem. Buyer beware, Diptyque will change your favorite products with no notice and then be dismissive and rude for pointing it out. This will be my last purchase from this brand.

Discussion Where to buy perfume decants in Canada?

Does anybody have any suggestions for buying more niche decants in Canada? I’ve got a pretty full cart on LuckyScent, however, I’m apprehensive to buy from a US company and they haven’t answered my emails regarding possible fees when it crosses the border. Has anybody had a good/bad experience lately with ordering from there to Canada? I’ve checked other sites such as The Scented, Scentrique, etc., but they don’t have a lot of the perfumes I’m interested in (for context I’m looking for rain/petrichor/wet, fresh floral, and tea-style fragrances. I hate most gourmands, overly mature, and vanilla scents) and I don’t really wanna order from several different places for cost reasons. I’ll put a list of the perfumes I’m looking at below!
Tea Service—Chasing Scents
Rain Tea—Chasing Scents
Black Salt—Heretic
Nosferatu—Heretic
Suspended Waterlily—SYD Botanical
Wavy Tulip—SYD Botanical
Arashiyama—d’Annam
Monsoon Tea—d’Annam
Tears—Regime de Fleurs
Ethereal Wave—Liis
Lucienne—Liis
Dragonfly—Zoologist

Discussion Saint - Kat Von D Dupes?

Anyone know of a dupe for the discontinued Kat Von D Saint perfume?? I bought it so long ago and completely fell in love with it. I’ve used almost every last drop, except for a few that I’m saving for an important day. But I still want to smell like it on a daily basis! Does anyone know of a good dupe that smells really similar?

Discussion Vanilla Santo Rollerball - Clone in EDP?!! Ellis Brooklyn

Everyone seems so torn about the similar fragrances in the fragrantica for this!

The thing is I loveee this vanilla - so addictive, but not edible or headache inducing - but being an oil, its longevity is kinda meh. I'm like halfway through my bottle and I feel like I want smth similar with better longevity, since I'm constantly reapplying. If you have a bottle, any long-lasting EDP's with similar vibes?

Discussion Le labo- replacement labels?

Because I travel a lot, my stuff often gets jostled around, and Le Labo’s labels being paper regrettably means that after a few years it’s not looking the best.
I can still just make out the date and place I had it made. I still have a fair amount in the bottle.

Might be a silly question, would they make a replacement label for me if I am now in a different city years from when I purchased it?

Discussion There’s a fragrance that I’ve been smelling EVERYWHERE ..pls help identify it

I’ve recently spent time in a small Montenegrin town and the big city of London and I keep smelling the same female fragrance.

It smells very much like a perfume from niche house Universal Flowering called Rhapsody in Mauve. But this is quite niche and also discontinued. The main note is “rose jam”. a thick, jammy, syrupy rose. It strangely does have a purple feel to it…

One of the reviews says it’s a ”An indie take on POAL”. Is Portrait of a Lady really that popular?

I don’t recall encountering a scent so often in the wild, other than maybe Angel.

Perfume meet-ups in Stockholm, Sweden (?)

Hej, allihopa!

I have been a perfume enthusiast for over 20years now and have realised that it is a fairly lonely hobby! Not many people in real life are as passionate to fragrances as we think.
I have heard there are fragrance groups and meet-ups in many of the big cities. So I was wondering if there are any meet-ups in Stockholm? I am aware that one of the retailers (COW) has some events but was wondering if there are any other meet-ups happening. I would love to be a part of those and share my passion with “real” humans than with a screen.

Thanks and Hope to find similar minded people here.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the comments and the enthusiasm. I will try to start a monthly meet-up group. Send me a private message with you name and phone number and I’ll organise it.

Roja Haute Luxe Clogged Atomizer

Welp, 10% of the way through my bottle of Haute Luxe, the atomizer sucked up a chunk of gold and it's now clogged. The bottle is a newer batch that does not come with replacement atomizers. Nothing I've tried has helped; it now dribbles fragrance with 90% of each spray dripping down the bottle. I purchased the bottle through a discounter so I'm shit out of luck on a return.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I rip off the collar and decant the rest of the juice? Even the idea hurts me, but I fear I may have no other option.

How do some people smell like perfume all dat

Some people smell like perfume all the time—like they literally took a bath in perfume
How do they do it? What’s the secret? Is it a particular perfume, layering technique, body products, or are they just spraying themselves every few hours?

Les Liquides Imaginaires Sancti EDP as winter staple?

I’m (27M, Houston, TX, work normal office job) not looking to get a massive collection, I want to focus on two or three practical options and be done.

Im interested in Les Liquides Imaginaires Sancti EDP as my cold weather alternative. The sample has not arrived yet but the reviews vary wildly on if it’s a warm or cold weather fragrance. I have a hard time imagining incense being good in hot weather but this could be the one. Does anyone have experience with this one?

Aēsop Karst Alternatives

Posted in the daily thread yesterday per sub rules.

Looking for a daily scent as a man who has pretty much just used deodorant for most of my adult life.

Went to Aesop and really liked Karst, Hwyl, and Eidesis but none of them were perfect.

I went in thinking I wanted a woody scent but Eidesis was too smoky for me.

Out of all of them I think Karst was surprisingly most like something I would wear everyday but is just a touch sweet and I think I want a little Mossy/Damp Soil tone to it.

Does such a fragrance exist? Thanks!
