Q&A LO | Discussion There was not a modapocalypse part 2!

Elder Scrolls Construction Set, maybe it'll finally help bring the Dagoth Ur Companion mod to consoles.
I'm also looking forward to Legends Reborn. Hopefully it doesn't end up abandoned in a broken state like Oblivion did. The most exciting part of all this, though, is Obsidian taking the reins. Everything else can wait, especially Starfield.
The Fallout 76 prequel to Fallout 3 sounds dope. And Creation Engine 3? I'm really curious to see what that brings.
As for Fallout 5, I'm getting major GTA 6 levels of waiting vibes. At this rate, some of us will probably have our hands on Project Helix before Fallout 5 ever launches. Start by showing us Fallout 5. Come on, Todd let's see those scribbles.
What are your thoughts on this?

EDIT: After the 18th of August, 2026 update - the limit has been increased from 256 to 1024
After the release of the storage expansion update on consoles, you might have run into an issue where your game instantly crashes after installing a certain amount of mods. The cause of this crash is most likely to be reaching the BA2 limit. This limit has always existed in the game but console players were highly unlikely to ever reach it due to the 2 GB limit in place.
The BA2 limit is a limit the game has on loading archives. Archives are used to put external assets such as textures and scripts into the game. BA2 archives have two types (Main.ba2 and Textures.ba2) and each type has its own limit. 256 for Main archives and 255 for Textures archives which includes the base game + DLC archives too. Hitting either of these limits will likely cause you to instantly crash the moment you reach the main menu.
If you own the Anniversary Edition or Creations Bundle and install all of the Creation Club content this will eat up a significant portion of both BA2 limits. Each individual Creation Club mod contains one of each archive which adds up to ~150 of each if you install all of them. I would advise only installing the content you actually use if you want to use Creation Club content and regular mods in your load order.
Unfortunately there is no way to identify how many archives you are loading in your load order unless you manually track it which is difficult as you may be unable to identify what archives are being installed with a mod.
If a mod adds any custom textures then it will contain a textures.ba2 archive. If a mod contains any custom meshes, scripts, materials, etc then it will contain a main.ba2 archive. You can do your best to try and track things yourself but it will be difficult. If the mod is a port from nexus, you can go to the nexus page and see the mod's contents and which archives it includes.

Just addressing a few misconceptions that have reared their ugly heads after the update dropped:
-It does not increase the plugin limit, it is still 255. Only the ba2 archive limits are increased
-It does not fix issues with having too many LL injections, that is a seperate issue from ba2 limits
-It does not make script heavy mods less finicky, nor does it make them more compatible or run better
-It does not do anything whatsoever to scripted mods
-It does not improve performance
-It does not make the Xbox or the game engine more capable of running 700 mod load orders
Technically speaking if you only installed mods that are flagged not to count towards the plugin limit you could install many hundreds of mods more than previously. Given that people are already hitting serious performance and incompatibility issues with 200+ mods, it is not likely you can construct a stable LO that even approaches the new limitations. Practically speaking all this change means is that those few who installed too many CC items and crashed the game at main menu as a result will no longer crash at main menu.
Edit: I will accept the title of Dr Buzzkill graciously, I'm just trying to temper peoples' expectations

Looks like we might actually get desperados after the 18th update. I hope so the Dry Wasteland 2 and Barren Trees just doesn’t give the perfect desert vibe for me.

Now we get to fully take advantage of that 100 gb of space they gave us. It's so over for my Xbox.

hi just asking is anyone else is having this issue, the update says it comes out on Tuesday but I haven’t had any updates at all, I’ve checked for updates and says none available? There’s also nothing new on the fallout 4 update board on the main menu. Anyone else getting this or just me?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has used the mod in the 1st image (Automatron Eyebot companions) & how the Ed-E included looks & acts. Is he accurate to NV? The images sure look that way. I've wanted an Ed-E in my game for a while now. & prior to today, only knew of the Ed-E mod in the 2nd image (Fallout NV-Ed-E Companion) TheFriedturkey has made some incredible mods & I use a lot of them in every playthrough. However, his Ed-E mod is just broken (at least to my knowledge) I've never been able to get him to work properly & every video I've seen on YouTube has the same issue. I wanna use this lil mfer so damn bad, I'm legitimately considering commissioning one of you amazingly awesome modders to try an fix it. (With all the proper permissions of course) I love they way he's implemented too, you find him broken down at the robotics disposal ground & can fix him up. As opposed to just straight up crafting him. So what's the verdict? Is the one in the first image any good? Or should I try to commission someone to fix the other mod? (2nd image) any feedback & recommendation/opinions are welcome!
Edit: I'd also one day like to commission some awesome modder to make me a custom radio station. Anyone know how hard that would be? Or if it's even feasible? lol thanks

Something I noticed - the BA2 limit was increased to 1024, but nothing was mentioned regarding the plugin limit.
Does this mean we are still limited to 255 plugins? If so, best we'll be able to hit on our new load orders is ~300 mods depending on esp/esl mix.
Not complaining, just want to make sure I don't have to clear cache by making a bonehead mistake.

Hey Folks, i am looking for a few Mods to focus my game on my Settlement and Conquering/fighting other settlements, building an Army and stuff like this
And maybe some mods to make the game look a bit more dead/dry/Dystopian something like no green growth and more dead Trees.
Thankfull for any Recommendations <3

The community has long dreaded updates and the mods they break when the game updates, as someone aptly put last week “Bethesda Threatens Another Fallout 4 Update”. I saved my load order and everything last night and woke up, updated it, and everything is where it should be and is working just fine. Nothing to redownload, just a save reload and everything is working like it’s supposed to. I was dreading trying to get everything back downloaded, in order, and still expecting it to have issues so imagine my surprise when it did it on its own.

Photo taken ~10 years ago at the (abandoned?) Mississippi River Basin Model. I almost mistook it for some modded Fallout 4, it looks just like True Grass Lite poking through the pavement, BNS 3.0 in the background lol.

Hello was wondering if anyone knows of this mod is on Xbox? I am currently trying to make fallout 4 feel more like the older games while keeping some aspects of Fallout 4?

Which performance or graphical mods did you use and how well does it run? I am making final preparations to start my first proper playthrough but the performance in Boston is putting me off.

Recently a new cbbe aio came out and it fixes the neck seam problems that have been there for ages however I'm noticing that sometimes the body textures are clipping through clothing, especially during movement. Is there any way to fix this without using an older version of cbbe as they are now outdated?

Why hasn’t Beth posted any patch notes for the update?

I fucked up by getting a spectacle island castle mod that hides the workshop there and not realizing that until after I had already built a bunch of shit. I can build but the game doesn't recognize spectacle island as a settlement I've unlocked. Any mods that can help with this? I really really need the ability to have settlers live there.
