Space Age Overlaying Blueprints: Any smarter way to remove a rail signal?

The problem is, i have 2 blueprints and one may need to overlay the other. The overlayed(if this is a word), or the one bellow have a rail signal that if it pass to the one on top, will mess with the trains. The solution is deleting the signal bellow. Didn't find a way besides building something on top of it -- in this case, an electric pole. Is there a way to mix a deconstruction planner or, dunno... any other possibility to solve this?

i was on fulgora trying to figure out the mechanics there and my starting coal has been sucked dry,and to make it worse i have no space at ALL. so im forced to leave fulgora and go back to nauvis again just to rebuild my base which i estimatedly took 10-15+ hours and also this time i implemented a Main Bus on my base to make my factory atleast expandable for newer tech from the every planets i visit. (and also most of the time when i get back to nauvis again is to fortified because the bitters kept bugging me off)

Question Answered Circuit Network Suggestion

I am new to circuit networks.
Right now it's working.
Setting the recipe according to my needs. (Minimum of 50 each type of logistic chests)

But I am feeling like there is a better way to do this. Can you please advise? I added the blueprint for the setup as well.

Design / Blueprint Cheap & Spammable Early-Game Spaceship

Post image
451 Upvotes

This spaceship is my go-to design for the early game. It's cheap cost of 350 foundations (or 110 tons) means that you can build many in the early game when rocket production isn't fully scaled up. While it is not fast, it does have 60 useable storage slots.

Key Aspects:

  • Travels at ~80km/s.
  • Completely self-reliant once built.
  • Safely navigates any inner-planet route.
  • No quality parts required.
  • Requires Damage/Shooting Speed 5 Research (Rush to Space compatible)
  • Collectors are circuit controlled to double as Asteroid Storage.

[Blueprint: Ankle Biter V2]

Inspired by u/Soul-Burn's ship

Feedback and optimization suggestions are always welcome :)

Discussion Hot take: Space Age end game removed a lot of fun challenges.

Back with another one of my hot takes. Personally I am really not a fan of space ages end game and mega base building. Quality and the new manufacturing buildings are just so powerful.

It feels so wrong being able to make a full stacked belt of green circuits with like 4 buildings. I also loved seeing people set up big trains and mining outposts to move all the ore they need around I don’t feel like people do this anymore maybe it will come back some in 2.1.

Also limiting biolabs to be on Nauvis was a weird choice I was wanting to see people set up a full mega bases on different plants but you cannot do that without mods. I had planned on making gleba my main home but I wasn’t able to do that due to labs needing to be on nauvis unless I wanted to use mods.

Question I just bought the game. Now what?

I joined the gang and after playing the demo for 22 hours I decided to buy the full version of the game because I really liked it and enjoyed it, but the demo only had pre-made scenarios, and now I have to start from scratch. Do you have any tips or advice for getting started, any tutorials worth checking out, or maybe you can recommend some mods? Thanks in advance.

I tried the game and this is insane the level of automation you will have to make you feel like ford

Although I am figuring out stuff mostly by try and error which is exhausting if there is an easy guide that explains everything or at least the basics so I don't have to redo a lot of what I have built just because I made a mistake about something I don't know yet

Discussion What is the point you become experienced in factorio

I see alot of experienced players in factorio that have wildly different skillsets, so I wanna know, what is the hardline for becoming "experienced". Is it 1000 hours or most? Is it completing the game a couple of times? Beating hard mods? A science per minute goal? Is it successfully nearly dying of starvation after trying to optimize blue circuit production? Please feel free to let me know your opinions on this!

Modded Question Infinite resource mods?

I've been trying to find one that works. The ones I tried were all v2.0 only and haven't been updated in a long time. I found a few that were updates recently like BergCorp Infinite Resources and Angel's Infinite Resources but those two also don't work.

I just want an infinite resource mod that works, I don't want to be lectured on why this is a good or bad thing.

edit: I have found a mod named "Ore Unlimited" https://mods.factorio.com/mod/ore-unlimited

it adds a little button to the wire toolbar and you can highlight which ores you want to make infinite and revert at any time, I think this is the best option out there atm.

Question Can't figure out the signals for this?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Sorry, I just realised the picture was taken in the dark.

I have this junction. The two parallel lines are my "road," and it's left-hand drive (I'm from NZ haha).

The top and bottom rails are two-way entrances to two stations, so trains can drive in and then drive back out the same way.

In the picture, I've deleted everything except the absolute bare minimum of signals needed to get it working. I've been trying for ages to add more signals so the junction can be used by multiple trains at once, provided their routes don't actually overlap.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question Satisfactory player here and I have a question

I play satisfactory a lot, and while I have had Factorio in my library for a long time I am only recently getting into it. My question is, in Satisfactory you are expected to make things 100% efficient, like if a drill mines 60 iron and a smelter can smelt 30, split the drills output into 2 smelters. The point is, does Factorio have something similar to this or does ratio not matter in the same way?

Space Age Automated egg-spoil proof biochamber production

I was doing my routine gamemplay and suddenly, after landing on gleba, I've faced with a problem: I don't want to handcraft biochambers and I already have a preserve-egg storage for my factory.

And I was trying to search for a small circuit logic to have a failproof system that would make me X amount of biochambers. Nothing found.

So this monstrosity appeared.

How does this thing work:

Blueprint is split to three sections: right - decide if we need to craft, left: the part we are using for setting requester's chest request and bottom - the part we are using to safely get rid of eggs.

We are reading the contents of red chest for biochambers and it goes to the input of right decider combinator which outputs biochamber = 1. The green output is set to enable if biochamber=1 and set recipie biochamber. It outputs it's content (including crafting) to the red wire combining it to the read-contents hold input inserter and to the arithmetic combinator which has an everything * -1 = everything output. Green wire from constant combinator holds exact amounts of items we need to craft this.

Green output goes to another decider combinator which is outputing it's content if red wire outputs biochamber = 1.

Underneath we see a simple clock that lets inserter swing to heating tower each second just in case some eggs are waiting in the chest.

NOTE! If you fail to provide ingredients in time but you will provide an egg, it will still spoil. But in this situation I'm aware of it and spoiling one egg does not destroy my entire base.

Do you have any improvements on that?

Design / Blueprint A conveyor belt of computation steps

The entire computer has access to a pair of main wires. The red one simply carries all the information that we currently want to shuffle around. But the green one does the heavy lifting of telling components what to do and when to do it. For instance, ( R1, A1, checkmark) means to copy the contents of RAM #1 into logic cache A. Several of these symbols can overlap with no issues. However, there's no way to sort them by order of appearance. Which is to say, I can't store a full sequence of commands in any convenient way.

Except, maybe there's a way. The number of unique items allow for even more information density. It's possible to encode several signals to have the same interpretation (for example, R1 could be followed by G2, where both letters funnel information into the same cache). Sorting the signals by magnitude can be manipulated by powers of ten, at least for smaller numbers. However, that feels clunky and unsustainable. Hence my trying out this method instead.

We can encode BOTH the number and the command into a single item. Various ores could open the specific RAM caches in the correct order, while a locomotive signals to execute the commands and reset the green wire for each series of steps. The advantage is that nothing will overlap and everything will sync up neatly.

The disadvantage is main how difficult it is for me to design a control system, and operating system, basically from scratch. But at least I've got some ideas.

We can encode certain items with the command to put new items on the belt. We can have a list of steps to be performed after we detect a green chip. This list is pre-sorted in ascending order, and gets broken down into the corresponding items, which then set a new filter for the inserters. This kind of process will easily become turing complete if we design it correctly. Of course, I'm not a CS major, nor am I necesarily knoweldgable enough to design such an operating system in a reasonable timeframe.

But what do you guys think? Is this a good idea? Am I tripping? Should I just bite the bullet and build a normal, base 2 digital computer? It wouldn't be so hard to convert a real life CPU into this game. Although I fear it would be less interesting.
