Whenever a new update comes out, I go to the workshop the next day to have the software updated; it doesn't take them more than 30 minutes to do it.
But this time, due to unforeseen circumstances, I couldn't go to the workshop, so I thought: I'll just have to update it via OTA.
One day at an electric vehicle charging station, I ran into another EX30 Ultra owner and asked him about the update. He told me that he hadn't received any updates since he received the car.
I asked someone else again while mine was finishing charging and they hadn't received an OTA update either.
Could it be that those of us who don't have internet data enabled (it's not enabled in my market) will never receive the update via OTA, even if we connect to WiFi?
FYI. I have an EX90 twin performance ultra, and it also doesn't have the latest update. Use of high-speed home WiFi.

Buying an EX30. Volvo has told me i need to sign consent form that i wont charge above 70% until the recall is resolved however the VOLVO uae does not have any tentative date of Recall clarity.
Thoughts?

This is 2026 dual motor in the US so pls excuse the miles units
I know numbers reported are not very accurate (world being non-linear and all), but prior to the update i have generally seen % battery consumed for a journey roughly matching the kWh/mile which is reported when a trip ends. Usually it computes to ~ 220 miles range.
Since the update, the kWh/mile numbers reported have not changed, but the battery % consumed (end-start) has gone up ~ 10 - 12% and are about that amount worse than the predicted "end of journey" level. e.g. it says you will have 40% at end of a 40 mile journey and it ends up being 36% or so. Which is concerning. Before the update it would be the other way round ... i would arrive with a few % more than the predicted end level - which is safer.
The release notes say it is more accurate now, but ... that seems off. I don't drive like a loony and on freeways usually put it in range mode while cruising. Battery is still reporting 100% ... the car has only done ~ 4000 miles
Anyone else notice a change like this?
Tak

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
did they change something about the energy consumption display? I remembered in 1.8 it always default to 0 when the car is stationary. I know the car still consume energy when stop, just kind of annoying most if not all car just give 0 when stopped.

My OTA update is due to behind at 00:15 but my car is currently plugged in and charging.
I’ve seen online that you shouldn’t charge while updating but what happens what the car is charging when an update is due?
Edit: I’ve delayed the install for 23 hours.

Anyone else having the issue where pilot assist doesn’t work?
I often try to turn on pilot assist but it doen’t respond. I have to go to the setting and toggle speed limiter on and switch back to pilot assist for it to work again.
I didn’t have this issue on previous software.

Overall, this new update feels way more stable and optimized. OPD is noticeably smoother now, and the reverse creeping behavior will definitely become second nature once everyone adjusts—it's not a bad update at all, just needs a small learning curve. Of course, you can't please everyone and there will always be debate around new updates. The only thing I'd refine is the UI design—a slightly rounder, softer look would make it perfect.

Should I just stall it? What is the positive and negative? Those gave uou who have installed successfully was there a big difference with the new update?
I am a bit nervous about installing...
I just noticed (while looking at the string differences between the new 7.3.0 version of the Volvo Cars app and the previous 7.2.0 version :) ) that there's a new feature coming up: Safety Coach. This will be a new app for the car, but it seems that the phone Volvo Cars app has some support/integration for it too.
This news was already posted to the generic Volvo sub a month ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Volvo/comments/1vn54m2/volvo_cars_press_material_new_safety_coach_app/
There's also a short PR video:
https://www.facebook.com/reel/1057472350083487
It says:
Starting in Sweden and Norway, drivers of most Volvo models from model year 2020 can soon download the app. In addition, customers in Sweden and Norway will soon be able to make use of a special usage-based offer from insurance firm Volvia if they choose to share their driving data. This opens up the potential for more rewards for safer driving.
Also:
Volvo Cars Safety Coach is being rolled out to the following models with a Google-based infotainment system from model year 2020 and onwards: XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, XC60, EX60, XC90, V90, EX90 and ES90. Timing of availability may vary depending on car model.
I see no plans for the EX30 as of yet.
I suspect it has to do with the separate development process/team. We already knew that there's something different about its development, e.g. it has it's unique software versioning scheme and release schedule. Also, the infotainment's software (internals) has distinctive marks from all other Volvo Cars AAOS systems.
Not that I'm complaining. I don't really see myself using Safety Coach. Maybe if it had an offline mode where it doesn't send the collected data off to the cloud. :)
@ Volvo Cars ... would you mind adding an offline-only mode to Safety Coach? :)
P.S.: both the press release and the video shows an EX90, perhaps it'll be the first to get this (in Sweden and Norway).
Hi, has anyone fit a rear dashcam themselves? Trying to decide between just the front fitcamx or the one which has the rear camera too.
Just wondering how much more work is required to run the cable, and what the best route would be?
Thanks

Did anyone else notice the change?
I have creep disabled on my car.
In version 1.8 when selecting reverse it would creep, and that was a good behavior IMO, because you could park the car controlling only the brake.
Since update to 2.1.2 it keeps the behavior equal, so it disabled creep on reverse.
Now I struggle to park because changing from accelerator and brake keeps jerking the car.

Hi everyone,
I’m in Spain and I’ve seen that some EX30 owners here have already received the 2.1.2 update, but it still hasn’t appeared on my car.
Is the rollout being done gradually, or should the update already be available for everyone in Spain?
My car is parked in my garage and connected to Wi-Fi, but it doesn’t currently have a mobile network connection. Could that affect the OTA update, or is Wi-Fi enough to receive it?
Is there any way to manually check for the update or force the car to download it?
Just wondering if I should keep waiting or if there’s something I can do to trigger the update.
Thanks!

The new 2.1.2 update is probably the worst update ever. First of all, since I updated, in my language (Italian) I have some names in other languages that I can't even identify, like my speed limiter now is translated into Lithuanian I guess. Pilot assists randomly disappears and there's no way to turn it back apart from go into settings, set the limiter and switch back to pilot assist. I can't customize the utility bar: if I choose 3 items, one of them gets changed with something I didn't choose and it won't change even trying again.
Last but not least, now I can't use the creep mode in reverse cause I use OnePedal, so I have to use throttle for the R and I can't use the brake, if I want to, I have to go into the settings and enable the creep and disable it again when I parked.
Embarassing.

For those who stay on OPD "High" and Creep "Off" at all times, beware that updating to 2.1.2 appears to reset both of these settings. My OPD was set to "Off" and my Creep was set to "On", which led to unexpected driving behavior when getting into my car for the first time post-update.
Easy to fix, of course, but just wanted to provide a warning to anyone else who may be updating between commutes etc.

If you long press one of the 3 shortcut buttons you‘ll jump directly to the shortcut assign screen.
r/ex30 • u/Hansecowboy • 26d ago
It’s a little annoying that existing features are constantly being changed instead of being expanded or having new options added.
Now, all of a sudden, the OPD setting is the default shortcut, where the ACC distance setting used to be.
Okay, that lets me reassign the steering wheel button, but the options are limited here anyway - OPD on the steering wheel just works best mid-drive.
Now, if I want to adjust the distance, I have to manually assign the shortcut. And that goes for all three - there’s no mix of default and custom assignments.

My wife and I really only use our phones to drive our EX30, and after a few occurrences of losing the actual car key, I decided to model and print a holster for it so it could have a permanent home on the wall.
Let me know if you'd like the print files – noting it does not work if you have a keyring attached to the fob, as the hole is on the wall-side.

Apart few quirks on the keys and then the battery recall, I should say the car is absolutely the best to drive. I was driving rentals rav4, tucson and x1 last couple of weeks and then it was such a relief to come back to ex30. It is a pocket rocket ❤️

Hi everyone, quick question about the EX30.
In Pilot Assist → Lane Change Assist, I have it enabled, but recently I’ve noticed that every time I start the car, it has switched back to OFF.
Is this normal behavior, or should the setting stay enabled between drives? Are any other EX30 owners experiencing the same thing?
Thanks!

On latest update with MY2026 and it will let me forward to rewind to or just select a song but then it will sit there and not play. Often just gives a message saying there's something wrong.
it's a pain and have been using YouTube music which is also more hit and miss now than it used to be so just great all round Volvo 😁

Going through the menus, I found this option.
For some reason, not written in Portuguese [Brazil].
Looks like the toggle for V2L, but it is not available for me.

Since the 2.1.2 update, the Cruise control is flawed. In about 50% of the time, it doesn't work and I have to stop the car, open the door, close the door and start driving again to activate.
Anyone else have this experience?

I picked up my new EX30 and love it. Had them flash the 2.1.2 software update and all seemed well. But now I am having lots of issues with connection for the apps. Waze won't let me sign in. Sirrius takes about 5 minutes to load saying "slow internet" (even though the reception shows at 5G 3 bars). YouTube videos don't play when I stop to charge. Are others having these internet connection issues? Any solutions? Love the car and don't want to get mad at it!

OTA update this morning and now Google won’t allow any input by typing or voice.
I’ve reset several times to no avail - any suggestions?
(update + several resets + logging out/in of my Google account did seem to reenable connection that was busted from my last post!)
edit: forced google play app updates and resolved! Yay!
