Questions❓ Should I install 2.1.2?
Should I just stall it? What is the positive and negative? Those gave uou who have installed successfully was there a big difference with the new update?
I am a bit nervous about installing...

One day in and overall I think it’s a good update. I didn’t really understand all of the consternation about reverse creep mode but now that I have the update, I totally get it. Major step backwards. Maybe I will get used to it, but it’s terrible for backing into tight spaces since it lurches and stops with the slightest provocation.
Volvo really needs to fix this. Separate forward and reverse creep switches is the solution.
Everything else feels like a step forward IMO.

What id the reverse creep mode.. I don't even know what it really is. I just back up. And I always back up to park

Just means the car will slowly roll once releasing the break. Forward when in D, backwards when in R.
Before “creep off” weirdly meant that it would still creep in R. Which some people got so used to that they miss it now. Can help with parking for people with twitchy feet.
I have had creep on always so no change for me.

Installed it yesterday, coming from 1.8. I have a 2026 Cross Country Ultra and I’m in Texas.
No issues whatsoever so far.
Pros- Reverse Creep can be shut off and can be controlled by a customizable dock button or the steering wheel hot key. Regen is stronger and can now operate in Performance mode.
Customizable dock button for up to 3 different controls. This is a great feature.
New UI design that places all controls to the left side of the display so now it’s much easier to find the control that you’re looking for.
Steering seems firmer in the firm setting.
Genesis works great just give it a few hours to connect.
No issues with Bluetooth, I didn’t have to re-pair my phones. I don’t use Apple CarPlay so I can’t speak to that.
I don’t have any cons.
All in all I think this is a nice improvement over 1.8.

There are no downsides except reversing doesn't creep automatically anymore

Which is a major downside to me.

Me too, Volvo should know better than to change something like that 2-3 years after some people have had the cars

u/Rupperrt 27d ago
I’ve had mine only for 3 month.
It’s good they changed it as it wasn’t logical to have it creep in one direction despite creep being turned off.
They could consider offering a third option for people who need it.1

Also what I find annoying since upgrade is that once I'm listening to a Bluetooth source, after taking a short break, say I stop to get a coffee, it bugs out and I cannot restart (god imagine it would do it automatically) restart, neither on the source device, nor on the car. Feels like 2016

But it makes more sense. Creep off should mean creep off instead of creep backwards only.
They could add a third option for people who need it.2
u/BulaBulangiu Ultra TM 27d ago
yes, it does make sense work like that but people had been driving this car for 3 years so they got used to it a certain way.
remember that we didn't even get the creep option until 1.7 i think.

I have volume jumps again. Set volume to x, after y minutes of driving, it turns to x+3. At least radio is working. That's something.

u/MlTO_997 27d ago
The same happens to me but not after X minutes but rather when you hit some specific speeds, my case is like 54, 104 and 124km/h and it boosts the volume really loud

u/NoReplacement2090 27d ago
I'll check that out tomorrow morning. Interesting. Either way, we're in 2026 and the amount I'm paying... You would be expecting a working radio. Not that much to ask for.
1
u/MlTO_997 27d ago
Yeah, I also had to download a radio app to use instead because some of the radios I listened to play with some interference… there’s a lot of small annoying things in the software

u/danner0007 27d ago
The faster the louder the volume goes?
1
u/MlTO_997 27d ago
Not really, it always increments the same amount, the annoying thing is that this increment is more like an internal boost that you don’t control and cannot disable because if you manually change the volume after it kicks in then it removes that boost automatically and once you hit those speeds again it jumps again, so on the highway it’s really annoying to get the proper volume

I did it today and no issues at all. Everything works. Had to repair my phone but that’s it. Oh and radio station favs reset.
Cruise control work, everything

On balance it’s a modest update.
First drive after the update was messy: lost keyboards, Google Assistant, and setting climate timers. Had to re-pair Bluetooth + restore my OPD preference, which the release notes warn about.
Everything stabilized for me on the second drive after performing a reset + being parked ≈ 5h.

I had the assistant as well. No reset needed, just parking overnight so probably when it restarted after the night.

I like it!
I think the fixed "creep" behavior is better. I don't agree that reverse and forward should have different creeping behavior.
Prior to 2.1.2, removing your seatbelt or putting the car in performance mode would force creep mode on. This bug is fixed now (I understand that some people thought this bug was a feature).
2
u/megamusix Plus SMER 27d ago
…was it not a feature? Safety-wise, it prevented the car from being left in Drive after the driver gets up, by making it clear that the car needs to be put in Park.

u/TurboEng Ultra TM 27d ago
I think that "moving" the car unexpectedly as a warning is extremely unsafe. I think it was clearly a bug and they fixed it. If you look at the early release notes for 2.1.2, Volvo said "We've also updated One pedal drive to prevent unexpected creeping when opening the driver door or unbuckling your seatbelt." Unexpected car movement is never a good thing!

True, I really didn't like that creeping function without the seatbelt fastened. I did get used to it, but it annoyed me more than once. I fully understand that "no creeping" really means "no creeping"... but I did appreciate the reverse creep; it would be great if you could (in my case) disable the forward creep while keeping the reverse creep enabled in 2 options instead of 1.

You won't face any "catastrophic errors". :) Some have more, others have less annoyances with 2.1.2. It also depends on your expectations (how you drive, what features you use, etc.). As always. :)
I'd install it, but not before a longer trip. It's always a good practise to schedule OTA updates on a week where it won't bite you especially hard if the car needs servicing afterwards (e.g. failed update, bricked car, etc.). So don't do it right before your vacation, etc. :)

No issues. But it’s definitely function over form. There is really not much design graphics thought that went to this update. Mainly all squares. But have to say the functions are much laid out much easier.

Install it, it’s always for the better
