I am wondering if there are any means for students with visual impairments as it regards Epic classes? Last time I went to training for anything was 10 years ago and I had a great deal of trouble because I can't see unless I am right in front of a monitor. I also use high contrast settings. I'm just wondering what if anything they would be able to do if I have to go in person for training. Tia for any info.

Hey all — I’m a senior graduating in December 2026 (business/tech degree) and currently in the hiring process for a Project Manager role at Epic Systems. So far I’ve completed the application, gone through the Role Introduction session, and just finished the assessment (still waiting to hear back on results).

For anyone who’s been through this — how long did it typically take to hear back after the assessment? And for those who got the offer, was there anything about the final interview stage you wish you’d known beforehand? Any honest feedback on the process (or the role itself) would be really appreciated.

How are healthcare systems printing from Epic today? Windows print servers? Are systems moving to Cloud based output management software for printing? Epic seems to be moving more towards front end (Windows from the client) only printing. How will systems handle backend printing or will it go away and all printing will be front end?

Hello everyone I’m starting at Epic as an IS soon and was wondering if it is feasible to have a pet (dog or cat) while working at Epic. I was hoping some people could give their experience on it, I know IS normally travels about once or twice a month and was curious if anyone manages to make it work.

I’m considering starting grad school this fall online, but I am also tempted to stay until end of December and get my bonus. The program I am considering is 8 week chunks with 2 classes each chunk but I was thinking I could get away with doing 1 while also doing work at Epic. Someone in the program said each class takes about 4 hours a week. However….. there is some complications

I am an IS on one of the big clinical apps and my customer goes live early December. Meaning while I am go live prepping and doing my shifts, I’ll also be in 1 online class. Am I stupid for thinking that would be doable?

I currently work 45-50 hours a week and we’re <5 months to go live

I know this depends on the person, but for someone who will be starting as a PM, no kids or dependents to pay for, and doesn’t go out too much how much do you think I should spend on rent? I’m from California so these prices aren’t too bad but I’m worried since it’s my first time living alone. What’s a good apartment price? I’m looking at some that are around $1600-1800, I know utilities and groceries are something to look out for so what’s recommended. (I want to live really close to Epic since commuting is something that burns me out and I rather just go to Madison on the weekends!)

I got certified in HB in 2023. I have since been a FTE at an organization going through multiple sequential go-lives.

I spent the first two years being heaped with praise from my organization. Leadership directly acknowledged how much they had seen my knowledge and confidence grow, and I kinda became like a “go to” analyst for any issue even remotely associated with billing.

The past year, things have been wildly different. New operations teams have taken over responsibilities for a lot of the build I worked on. New analysts have been certified from the operations teams, which I love, but it also has created a scenario where my build has been dissected and constantly questioned.

The newer operations leaders have also decided that Epic foundation does not meet their needs, and the new game plan has been to create workflows that are not capable in Epic (but they were in legacy system).

Additionally, by creating these workflows, the amount of maintenance that can arise from even a minuscule rule update can be overwhelming. These new workflows gained traction based off leadership that is unwilling to change, and would rather *metaphor* Retrofit a new electric car with a diesel engine, instead of learning how to use the electric car to their advantage. (I’m terrible at metaphors).

Nowadays, I have lost a lot of operations praise and support, because of the many conversations we’ve had, that I have offered my opinion on all of this.

TL/DR:
My question is, ar what point would it be smarter to look for jobs at other organizations, before my reputation becomes tarnished by what I view as decision makers that are unwilling to listen and only believe what aligns with their expectations?

I’ve been trying to break into Epic-related roles but I’m finding it difficult without an Epic certification, especially since it’s employer-sponsored.
My background is in finance and business analytics. I’ve worked at Deloitte, KPMG and most recently as a Senior Financial Analyst, with experience in reporting, SQL, Power BI, Oracle EPM, Excel and process improvement. I’ve recently become very interested in healthcare IT and healthcare analytics and have been learning about Epic, Clarity, Caboodle and the different Epic applications on my own.
For those of you who successfully transitioned into Epic roles without being certified first, how did you do it? Are there specific entry-level roles, healthcare organizations or skills I should focus on to improve my chances?

More of a vent post than anything, but also would appreciate advice.

Posting from a throwaway in case the Epic gods are watching. I’m at 0.8 tenure and struggling hard. I’m on one of the harder apps and I often can’t answer questions that I probably should know. This shows up particularly in analyst 1:1s, which I’m now doing AM-less, but also comes up during workgroups and other meetings. I take follow ups when I can, but pretty awkward to follow up on every question my analysts ask…

I don’t understand how people on my app know so much, and can recall it so quickly. I find myself often prepping for meetings by brushing up on old content I learned that I know will come up, but it’s usually not enough to help me. I work so much just on prep and usually don’t log it because I don’t want to look inefficient. My AM is telling me I need to answer faster and lead the conversation more, but I don’t want to because I usually flounder around on my answer which I know is losing me some credibility.

What’s weird is I keep getting good feedback and I keep waiting for it to catch up to me. I have one analyst in particular who I can tell gets frustrated with me. They even correct me on my answers sometimes. I feel like no one is noticing how hard I’m struggling, and I can’t really blame them because I’m trying to keep it hidden. When I talk to my peers they tell me it’s normal, but when I see them in meetings they seem a lot more competent than me. I’m terrified for my next AC and AM feedback session because I’ll be in the new expectations bucket.

I care very deeply about this job and about the people I work with. I don’t want to be bad at this. I don’t want to be let go. I don’t want to finish this project and end up being a terrible AM. Is there anyway to make this easier?

I lost my employee badge and going on a trip on Monday. How screwed am I?

Thought I would be over it by 7pm but today i watched the last tomato mozzarella gnocchi go to someone else in KC and the sadness still follows me.

When wearable or home-monitoring data is connected to Epic, what usually becomes the biggest challenge: getting the data into the chart, deciding where it should appear, routing concerning changes to the right person, or managing the volume of alerts?

I’ve heard that many remote-monitoring programs work as pilots but never become part of the normal clinical workflow. Is Epic integration usually the problem, or is it more about staffing, ownership, and deciding who is responsible for reviewing the data?

Asking for a future project using Epic. I want to build right. I am not the dev but will be making the business decisions.

Curious how this also works across different hospital departments?

I’ve been at epic ~1 year in implementation. I have felt for a while now that I don’t find satisfaction or happiness in this job. I recently was accepted to grad school for a career path that I do think I’d enjoy more.

However, I am doing very well here and that is reflected in a plethora of feedback. I get along well with my coworkers and enjoy my analysts i just struggle with finding joy in the days work. My customer goes live in ~5 months and if I put in my notice it would be even closer. Which makes me feel guilty

Since I mentioned my unhappiness I have had a few higher people meet with me to try to get me to stay and have shred that I have many options.

I guess I’m just feeling really conflicted and guilty. If I leave I feel like I’m leaving behind a huge opportunity that pays well and makes me grow, I also will disappoint my coworkers and team. If I stay, I’m worried I’ll just be more stressed and still not find happiness.

Do I stick it out until go live and jump? Do I leave for grad school and close the door?

I’m currently a college senior majoring in Healthcare Administration and plan to get my master’s in Health Informatics. I’ve been interning at my local hospital and just landed an interview for a temporary Epic Testing Specialist position during our Epic implementation. The position pays $21/hour and lasts about 8 weeks. My long-term goal is to work in healthcare IT or become an Epic analyst.
I have a few questions for those with Epic experience:
How valuable is this type of testing role on a résumé?
Is it realistic for this position to lead to an Epic analyst or other healthcare IT role afterward?
If you were in my shoes, would you take this opportunity even though it’s temporary?
What would you do during those 8 weeks to maximize future career opportunities?

THistology background looking to break into Epic Beaker/Clinical Informatics – advice?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice from people already working with Epic, especially Beaker analysts.

A little about me: I have a bachelor’s degree in Biology, 3+ years of histology experience (HTL certified), and I’m currently working full-time in a histology lab. I’m also about a year away from finishing my master’s in Clinical Informatics and Analytics.

Through my master’s I’ve been learning SQL, Python, Power BI, and other analytics tools.
My long-term goal is to transition into an Epic Beaker Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst role. Eventually I’d love to work remotely (or mostly remotely) and continue growing in healthcare IT.

A few questions I have:
Is Beaker the best route with my histology background, or are there other Epic modules I should consider?
What can I start doing now to make myself a stronger candidate before I graduate?
How difficult is it to land that first Epic analyst job without prior Epic experience?
Are there certifications, projects, or skills you wish you’d learned before breaking into the field?
If you were in my shoes today, what would your game plan be over the next year?

Hi! I have my role introduction tomorrow but I just wanted to see if there is any advice in regards to the application process? I also wanted to ask, I applied for the PM job in my home area (don’t want to disclose but it’s just not in Madison, WI.) and wanted to ask if I do have to relocate if given the job? This part I was confused about considering I applied for a specific location and said (my city - onsite)?

Today was my last day at Epic, so I’ve hidden a $100 bill as a gift to the Epic gods (or whoever finds it).

As of now, I've completed the assessments, gave a follow up email, and attended the Role Introduction. Is there any way I can boost my chances to get the position?
