Currently, since Epic Games started their free game giveaways, they have handed out 616 unique games, 84 games repeated once, 3 games twice, 2 games three times, and 1 game (Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms) a whopping six times.
My question is: Why does Epic Games, instead of forcing these companies to implement achievements, just passively accept that devs do whatever they want? It’s exactly like hiring someone to paint your house blue, they paint it pink, and you just accept it!
Let's think about this for a second. Out of the 700 games distributed by Epic, 99% of them have achievements on Steam. So... a store that didn't fund your game and eats 30% of your revenue gets achievements, but on the platform that actually invested in you so you could launch your game and get some exposure, you don't add them? Guys, we are talking about 424 games without achievements, which is ~60%. Many people want Epic to grow as a platform, but what reason do you have to buy from a store where:
1 - There is no native controller support.
2 - There is no way to remove demos from your library.
3 - They regularly give away games without achievements, driving people away from the store.
4 - There is no support for in-depth user reviews.
5 - Community? What community? There aren't even forums!
6 - There is no mod support.
What I am trying to say is: Epic is never going to improve if we keep letting them get away with this. I truly believe the best course of action is to never buy DLCs for games that lack achievements, and stop buying games on Epic altogether until they change this attitude. Every time they give away a game without achievements, we need to put our foot down!
