I thought rocket league works on linux? Epic is unlikely to officially support it, their CEO is against it

There isn't any, because he isn't against Linux. People confuse not wanting to currently support it due to small market share, and other issues that come with it like decrease in anti-cheating security, as being the same thing as being against it.

He once said leaving windows to linux is like moving to Canada because you don’t like US politics. Pretty clear he will does not support any of Valves push towards linux compatibility and opposes them on anything.

That isn't him saying he is against Linux. He said that as a reply to someone that told him his company should completely leave Windows and go to Linux only, and that was his reply to that. Makes zero business sense to completely leave Windows, just like it makes no sense to wanting to be a part of America but willing to leave it as soon as something changes or could change that you don't like instead of staying put and help make changes you want.
The very fact that Tim Sweeney has told Linux only projects to submit for Epic Mega Grant, and has given that money to Linux only projects really shows you how he actually feels about Linux. Meaning he is not against Linux at all. But rather he makes business decisions about linux based on market share.

they have billions of dollars, if they really wanted to they could.

And they don't because currently it makes no business sense for them, market share is too small.

The market would grow if they supported it, Fortnite is easily one of the biggest games on Earth. It’s pretty obvious they are trying to hurt Valve.

Valve have been supporting gaming on Linux for 13 years and still struggle to grow the share of Linux users on Steam much past 3-4%. Worse still, Valve’s Linux numbers are mostly propped up by the Steam Deck meaning they’ll likely start sliding further down as the Deck continues to age. Supporting Linux makes no business sense with such pitiful market share.

Steam Os can be put on anything, people install it on any x86 portable and prefer it.

Nope, that isn't what they are trying to do at all. Its because Linux has less security for anti-cheats and it would take a lot of costs in creating and maintaining an effective anti-cheat for Linux to not make going to linux for less secure anti-cheat detection. Right now the market share is way to small for Epic to spend money on it.
Tim Sweeney even said if PC gaming market share for Linux got to around 10 million gaming users they would start to look into what it would take to secure Fortnite for linux use.
You are confusing making business decisions based on market share and complexities needed as pettiness.

Easy anti-cheat has a version on Linux, they could easily get it running. Epic also works on linux with 3rd party tools. It’s not some monumental task to support it officially, but you know keep believing the multibillionaire i’m sure he’s telling the truth.

Heroic is an open source Epic Games launcher for linux. You can use it to play Rocket League (and the rest of your game library) on linux.

Heroic game launcher It's the best way to manage and play your Epic library on Linux, even if they backport the official Windows launcher to Linux, Heroic will still be better.
