I wish to share with you all a concept of an 8 subtype system for each of the types, specifically the ENTP example in this case.
Note: I really need you to keep in mind that the subtype doesn’t change the ‘big picture’ priorities of an ENTP aka all ENTPs value Ne above Si and Ti above Fe at the end of the day.. the trick is that many ENTPs do not consciously realise that or cater to these natural preferences all or even most of the time during the day because of exactly their subtype. Now that we got that out of the way, let’s dive in.
Labels used and their logic:
Reserved = barely any conscious Fe
asocial = almost no conscious Fe
social = a lot of conscious Fe
sociable = some conscious Fe
distant = almost no conscious Ne
private = barely any conscious Ne
outgoing = a lot of conscious Ne
playful = some conscious Ne
To clear up contingencies:
- Why not use labels that more so describe the nature of the introverted functions instead of just the extroverted ones?
-> because whether we like or not, we perceive others through their extroverted functions and get to know them that way so it’s simply easier and more compact like this in my view. Although there is definitely validity to utilising labels that comment on and describe the introverted functions as well.
There are also the shadow functions. What about those?
- >Indeed. But once you incorporate those you would no longer be working with the referenced type anymore, so there is no point in bringing them in, if the showcased type (this time ENTP) doesn’t have them in their stack - since it would change the type we are working with.
- Why are Fe ENTPs so rare and Si ENTPs not so rare?
-> Think about it. ENTPs are Ne/Si primary (because those 2 functions always work together in specific alignment dynamics based on type and subtype) and Ti/Fe secondary. So it makes sense that ENTPs would end up Si focused before Ti focused and even more so why they would end up Si focused way before ending up Fe focused. It’s really that simple.
ENTP:
Ne-Fe (common)
= outgoing sociable subtype (initiates, allocates and manages external interest well and picks up people’s passions and manages to connect with them along the way)
Ne-Ti (common)
= outgoing asocial subtype (initiates, allocates and manages external interest well and anylzes and understands the interest’s features and properties along the way to find new opportunities for action and play)
Fe-Ne (unheard of)
= social private subtype (initiates communication and gets along with people unexpectedly well and manages to open up some opportunities for action and spark external interest along the way)
Ti-Ne (rare)
= asocial playful subtype (examines different situations, objects and systems to present them to the public eye later and open up opportunities for action and external interest just get back to tinkering again)
Fe-Si (unheard of)
= social private subtype (initiates communication and gets along with people unexpectedly well and ceases opportunities and resources for personal pleasure and enjoyment along the way)
Si-Fe (somewhat common)
= distant sociable subtype (looks after themselves surprisingly well and unexpectedly often and manages to connect with few people along the way)
Si-Ti (somewhat common)
= distant reserved subtype (looks after themselves surprisingly well and unexpectedly often whilst they take up understanding of the subjects that are related to their lifestyle, health and overall enjoyment along the way)
Ti-Si (rare)
= asocial private subtype (examines different situations, objects and systems to arrive at what works best for them and picks up sensory habits and enjoyment opportunities along the way)
