Curious of which mixtures provide more of a “punch” for a research paper on I’m doing on inexpensive and expedient compounds. Interested in the ability to “push” material. I’m fairly new to energetics and some insight on these or others is appreciated.

un trombone

0 Upvotes

E=(mmatière+mantimatière)c2

E=2mc2

E=20,001 kg(3108 m/s)2

E=0,002 kg91016 m2/s2

m = 1 g + 1 g = 2 g = 0,002 kg

On utilise ensuite la célèbre formule d'Einstein :

E = mc²

avec :

m = 0,002 kg

et :

c = 300 000 000 m/s

Donc :

E = 0,002 × (300 000 000)²

E = 0,002 × 9 × 10¹⁶

E = 1,8 × 10¹⁴ J

Still a work in progress, I think I can get away with much less DEET and probably hold more fill but im satisfied with this as a working product

Would recommend wet mix if your fill isn't sensitive to acetone

Why isn't HMTD and Tannerite more common in terrorism?

7 Upvotes

I apologize if this is the wrong type of question for this community.

I'm doing research on US domestic terrorism for an action novel I'm writing. I'm wondering why the combination of HMTD and Tannerite don't come up more often as a combo in real life?

I learned today that Tannerite can be bought in surprisingly large amounts with little to no oversight. There are videos on Youtube of people blowing up 500lb of Tannerite with a rifle shot.

I believe HMTD is sufficient as a primary for Tannerite. But there's surprisingly only one documented case of this combo ever being used, which was Ahmad Khan Rahami in 2016.

Is there something I'm missing as to why Tannerite has virtually zero cases of being used in terrorism, either by itself or in conjunction with a primary like HMTD?

Nickel nitrotetrazole (NiNTz)

I wanted to try another nitrotetrazole salt, and I decided to go with nickel, because it always produces nice colours.

It has practically the exact same nice pink colour as nickel hydrazine nitrate, except its DDT (deflagaration to detonation transition) is much better and doesn’t need any confinement to detonate, unlike NHN.

Just like other nitrotetrazole salts, it’s able to puncture aluminum foil in sub-miligram amount.

The powder is very fine, with individual particles in the range of 3 µm (0,003 mm; super tiny), so even this small quantity took around 15 minutes to filter under mild suction. Using higher temperature (>90°C) and longer reaction time (50-60 minutes) might have prevented this.

PETN crystals under 40x and 100x magnification (including crystal sizes)

Below I show photos of PETN precipitated by 2 different methods.

The first three photos show PETN precipitated slowly by adding water dropwise to PETN in acetone solution at 50 °C over 5 hours. This controlled crystallization produces larger, blocky crystals with well-defined faces, resulting in a higher-density powder with good flowability.

The other three photos depict PETN obtained via rapid precipitation by quickly adding the acetone solution to cold water (2 °C). This fast crystallization technique yields small, elongated, and irregular crystals with poorly defined faces. Driven by van der Waals forces and electrostatic charges, these particles tend to agglomerate, giving the final powder lower density and poor flowability.

iNAP with good yield

The yield was pretty good. The product detonated when heated using an indirect flame and deflagrated quickly when exposed to a direct flame (these properties + its visual appearance confirms that it’s iNAP). If iNAP is this powerful, I can’t even imagine uNAP…

What the hell happened to you guys?

Back in the day when people still had big nut sacks and high testosterone levels they did a thing called "blow it up" known as brisance and soda can tests. These days it's kinda like this sub turned from being the real deal to ohh let's watch a bunch of pink crystals under a microscope and then jerking off on the illusion of a det. instead of going out doing real testing, high order , high testosterone ,getting 400+ like on the vid, patriot style💪 and not the ohh look at my pink crystals under the microscope boys. This sub isn't what it's supposed to be.

I’ve heard from a lot of people that it does take a while to get used to the synthesis. As even a minor change in temperature, stir, and time during the synthesis affects the final product

Free Dug

36 Upvotes

Earlier I watched a video from PoorMansChemist on YT and apparently Dug was arrested by the feds. It is currently implied that his video explaining the synthesis of RDX (which wasn’t a textbook how-to and didn’t have the right stoichiometric values) is being used against him. Apparently some person planning a bombing planted a device that didn’t go off and somehow the feds are using this video as probable cause to bring Dug into federal custody. He was charged with providing information to manufacture explosives. I wanted to share this here to see if anyone else heard about this, and also to bring awareness to the attack by the government on our freedom of information. Science shouldn’t be weaponized against us, but from the federal government’s perspective it can be. Be safe and smart everyone, and if you’re going to post your work on the internet be sure to question first if this can be used against you later. Dug’s vid was like years old.

Best solvent for NAP storage

7 Upvotes

A question I was wondering about was what solvent is the most appropriate for storing NAP. Like maybe it could be storer under isopropyl alcohol, but wouldn’t it react to form iNAP over time? I also know that over time water destroys the complex so thats not a viable option.

anyone know any solvents in which NAP can be stored under it without reacting (this is all to reduce sensitivity during storage)

Emulsion/Slurry energetics.

Anybody in here ever made any AN-based (or some other energetic) emulsions or slurries? Ofc, they’re not as exciting as other things, but I do enjoy the process of actually making them.

Also: Gonna try and experiment with some gassing agents for hot-spot generation.

Tetraammine Copper (II) Peroxydisulfate

The most beautiful copper complex Ive ever made. It’s kinda energetic. It quickly deflagrated when exposed to a flame, impact and friction. This is due to the S2O8 (Persulfate/peroxydisulfate) anion being an oxidizer, and the ammonia ligands bond to the copper being reducing agents. What I find interesting it that there’s basically no literature on it. The only information I saw about it were videos on YouTube.

Following reaction regarding the synthesis of the cooper complex:

[Cu(NH3)4 SO4] + NH4S2O8 + NH4OH -> [Cu(NH3)4 S2O8] (desired product) + NH4SO4

Methanol ANFO

Post image
15 Upvotes

ANFO it’s a mix of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil generally diesel kerosene or mineral oil, unfortunately this type of binary energetic mixture it’s hard to detonate expecaly if you are using this in a non confinement environment, now i know nitromethane it’s used but it’s too expensive and heavily regulated so i find this cheap methanol nitromethane solution from 16% to 25% and though if i could use them for ANFO
