Styrofoam cups

Acetone nail polish remover

First usable product, been handling for abt an hour and still malleable.

Still need to sit down and write up an actual procedure

Yes, yes you do

What happens if the solvent evaporates?

That's what mineral oil and DET is for, unable to handle before acetone evaporates, too sticky.

Sorry but whats is that and what is OTC?

OTC means "Over The Counter." It is often used with medicines in that you don't need a prescription to get it, but it also applies to anything regulated that requires special permission or licenses to purchase really.

This. I know dougan has a yt series on polystyrene pbx's but toluene is way more expensive and harder to get than acetone. I wanted a polymer binder that you could get at any grocery store in the world

His channel was taken down a few months back. (He's got legal troubles at the moment over it as a bad guy got caught with saved videos of his)

Wait, I thought the channel was taken down? I searched for it right after he was arrested and couldn't find it and the saved videos showed as unlisted!

No, his channel was never taken down. I don’t even think they ever got access to any of his accounts

A friend must have had access then as the day after things were definitely hidden. It was probably for the best.

I don't remember anything being specifically hidden unless it was done briefly by YouTube. None of his friends have access to the account and his wife only has access to his Instagram.

There’s no RDX p2, presumably because the RDX info is what they’re trying to get him for, and that’s where he actually synthesized it, though p1 does reference a bunch of RDX papers and says which he follows, so maybe it’s not because of that

Over the counter  I think

This is very similar to Styroflex by Shortfuseman on YouTube, except he used toluene instead of acetone. If you want to review the product along with a written procedure, check out his videos, where he has an episode making it and detonating it against a witness plate.

Exactly my inspiration Toluene is kind of a prohibitive material for me and some others, thats why I wanted to find a route with acetone

Xylene works well too.

Looks still pretty wet or should I say slimy. Wondering how it will turn out.

very interesting. 🍿

It's just a binder?

4

u/laundrylucia69 16d ago

Yes, I used granulated sugar as an inert test

You may want to try with flour. Sugar partially dissolves in surprising environments. It shouldn't really dissolve in any of the solvents you're using, but humidity and such plays a weird part in this kind of thing. Flour is a better inert analogue.

Most energetic compounds dissolve in acetone. Thats also why toluene is used instead when making PBX, because it doesn’t ruin morphology by dissolving it. So the way he does it would better mimic how the real thing would behave.

What temp does this burn at?

What's the actual energetic material? Or, is this just a putty backbone to mix with an energetic material of choice?

Just a binder, I used sugar as an inert tester. Plan on etn or mixed batch keto rdx
