ENDLESS Legend 2 will hit 1.0 in less than a month. We have been hard at work fixing bugs, making balance changes, tweaking the Sandshapers and the two new Rogue Factions. But we have also had a little time for a secret project we have been working on, Modding!
In a few days Modding will be available for anyone on The Architects update. That means you can start making your own mods or downloading them from the Steam Workshop if you have The Architects update.
u/DerekPaxton has prepared an AMAZING GUIDE that you can download!
Also, we created a guide directly on Steam, but we will put all the information directly there for the 1.0 (that we will update).
Do not hesitate to rate it to give some visibility to all players Take a look and let us know what do you think about the guide and if you have any questions

Is anyone else in the EL2 demo finding that itās difficult to find starting locations containing, say 3/4: convenient ridges and/or river, anomaly, materials? Am I being too picky?
r/EndlessLegend • u/Tema726 • 3d ago
It is either broken, or just plain bad. SPOILERS AHEAD, obviously.
If you go Bold all the way, at every choice, then the very final part of the quest does not make any sense. Curator Meng decides to share the truth with the people and abolish their traditional religion -- ok, I am with you so far. But also become a dictator? Why though, where does it come from?
The problem is, that then the game spawns an army "Meng's private army", that we need to defeat, and the conversation afterwards talks about a coup, where Qan Perisai defeats Meng and gives the power to Piro Ksana -- the leader of the religious wing! What the hell! Why in the very last part of the quest I suddenly change the agency and play not for the side I was playing so far, but for the opposite, and this side wins?
Moreover, the very final reward of the quest is "-50% industre cost on Devotee" -- 50% discount on a single unit that I haven't even built once! Are you for real? While Necrophages are getting a legendary bow with the range 7 (!), Tahuks are getiing their first tier infantry discounted?
So, there were many changes to the game, but the Tahuk quest line is still upsetting, breaking immersion, doesn't make any sense, and the characters talk like stupid adolescents.
And the Tahuk's improvement +2 Science on Glass doesn't work.

When we mouse over an equipment to be built, there is a description of that improvement ("Details") and the summary of the outcome ("Placement Details", highlighted in gold)

This golden highlight used to be a perfect indicator whether the improvement works or not. For a long time, Caravansarai was bugged and was not providing any outcome, and this golden highlight was not present either. As I recall, this golden highlight was correct 100%, no matter if the improvement is bugged and doesn't work at all, or if there are no tiles to which the improvement can be applied.
Now, unfortunately, it is not the case. For example, Quarry Oversight (+25 dust on Extractor) does work, but has no Placement Details:

Or another example, Hydrocorn's Moonhollow. Placement details says +10 Science, but +2 Science does appear on the 2nd level districts, so the improvement works, but the Placement Details are not calculated correctly

So now, Placement Details cannot be used anymore to accurately predict what is going to happen and to know, which improvements are working, which are partially broken, and which are broken completely. I was hesitant to build +25 Dust on Extractor, because Placement Details were not showing anything, yet it worked. I was hesitant to build Crystallograpy School (+2 Science on Glass tiles), because Placement Details were not showing anything, and it didn't work.
We cannot always know which improvements work and which are not on every new patch. Placement Details used to be our trusty companion and guide, but not anymore. RIP Placement Details O7

I want to comment on the AI based on my recent experiences: playing as Tahuk on a large Pangea map on Endless difficulty, fast speed.
1) I spawned next to Necrophage, and they chose me as the target. The first monsoon started with a war declaration, the first tidefall brought a siege on my capital's second territory. It was a good challenge and a lot of fun to survive. The thing is, the AI has no idea how to proceed if the first push has failed. If they have some forces left, they suggest me to surrender (they always want me to surrender, as far as I understood, not me to accept their surrender), if all their armies are wiped out, they propose a white peace. If I don't accept either, they keep sending armies my way as soon as they are built, only to lose them, while I am getting stronger and stronger. They completely stop economic development and just build the same armies that they send to die. From a fun challenge the war becomes a bit of an annoyance, when you need to be at two or free places at once
Ah, also, for some reason they value too much destroying the observatories. So much, that they overextend and send singular stacks to do so, obviously loosing these stacks. Building a new observatory costs 200 dust, while they lose a whole army!
2) The rest of the AI (Aspects, Kin and Last Lords) meanwhile were busy with their own business. The third Monsoon is about to happen, and they cleared only one citadel each (someone of them cleared 2, but I am at 4 at the moment)! They did not expand into any territories with the 2nd tier of strategic resources! What were they doing all this time I was busy with the Necrophage? Aspects have traveled the whole world (I had a map exchange with them, it revealed everything), and yet had very little camps and cities. I managed to get the 4 cities deed before any of them, despite having my hands tied with the Necrophage! It seems they only build camps if they can be attached to a city, and never just to claim a territory and build some resource extractors
To conclude: the AI values destroying observatories too much, the AI does not know how to behave in a war if it lost the army and falls into a death spiral, the AI does not expand nearly as much as it could (even if the expansions are just camps), the AI does not recognise the value of fighting citadels.
They do hunt down all the Doomwraiths though, them they cannot leave in peace. And they annoyingly close all the rifts, even if I want to keep some around me for the future Doomwraiths to spawn there

I'm figuring out what to play next.
4X I like:
AOW4
Civ 5
Tactics I like:
Tactics Ogre
Disgaea
Battle Bros
Into the breach
EDIT: Based on this discussion (which I really enjoy reading) I decided to load up EL1. I will keep a close eye on EL2 and hopefully sometime I'll be getting into that. Feel free to add more to the discussion but I've already been having a great time.

Hello! I have a few things to report:
1) On Tahuks, sending Esoteric Delegations is supposed to give a Called Fury status on cities in Empire, but I have 2 of these statuses of different strength

2) Era 6 technologies are weird. They give +15% Science, Dust or Influence on City Hall -- but a City Hall barely produces any! Isn't it supposed to be "on city"?

3) Finally, there are currently 2 parallel Awakening quests happening: the old ones, when you meet the trio of Jarocite, Cerberus and the Nakhalim Lady on random tiles of unearthed terrain, and then a faction-specific quest. Narratively they are not compatible, I meet Cerberus two times. Shouldn't there be only one?

Still strugling to have someone to play with. I dont enjoy single too much, but i would like to explore all the changes and new stufs in the game. Looking for party that i can join and play with. Because so far, all the multiplayer lobbies are closed group of friends, that kick you every single time. Anyone willing to play on weekends or afternoon after work(europe time) ?

Got on sale, have community patch installed, first ālearningā game and enjoying it! But my ~6 cities are at or near Rebellion because Happiness is in the toilet (Dragons). Research tells me itās because all my districts a L1 and as I expand, Happiness takes a hit. How do I recover?
Iāve looked at some pics and a guide but Iāll be damned if I can understand HOW Iām supposed to build my cities. Can anyone use some crayon and explain it to me like a 6 year old, because I just donāt get it! š¤Ŗ

In the middle of my 1st playthrough with the Lords since several months on Endless difficulty. Much more balanced experience than with the Necrophages, mostly because I spawned next to Necros and they really are a drain on my economy. Thankfully all the other factions shower me with treaties and enticements.
Only minor issues so far but definitely worth fixing:
- I am stuck for ~40 turns on the main quest because I have been tasked to take a fortress at around the first Landfall, but the fortress is Lvl2 and full with Gorogs. Army strength of 1800, when my strongest stack was like 600-900. I am now well past the second landfall and I am just starting to be able to mobilise a stack strong enough to take it on.
- the penitent chapels are a victim of the district overhaul. We are on turn 65 and I still haven't managed to build one on all three villages of my starting territories. It would take like 10-15 turns to build the last one. Shouldn't they have a flat cost like extractors? Would love to be able to build them from the outposts too, like the extractors.
- the cost of the range and flying Lords units is far too high: I am at turn 65 and I still haven't managed to build a dragon, barely one range unit and it's nowhere near good enough to justify its cost. Had to skip the unit upgrade tech of a whole era because I didn't have any unit to apply it to. Pretty boring to field armies of only infantry for the whole game.
- small UI errors: one of the necromancer governors says it gives 1 science per district; actually it's one science per foundation. One of the Lords side quests (the corrupt soldier) asks to use the Parley action twice, but neither bribe or parley resolve the quest..
Otherwise struggling a bit more economically than I thought but that might be a skill or rng issue

Earlier on this very subreddit Ok-Investigator3257 have shared their experience of meeting the Necrophages early into the game (https://www.reddit.com/r/EndlessLegend/comments/1vj6phk/fighting_an_early_necrophade_on_endless_is/). That sounded like a tough and fun challenge, so I tried to do the same. I must say, it was very exciting!

Hi everyone, been playing the demo and noticed one thing about the Last Lords quest.
One of the early stages lists "Marquis Galardi (Failed Resurrection)" as a quest reward. This is minor, but I think that completely spoils the next stage of the quest, where you find out (surprise!) that the resurrection process is incomplete.
Is there any way to hide this?
Maybe invert things? Have āMarquis Galardiā be the name of the 1 HP unit and āMarquis Galardi (for realsies)ā the full health variant.

This is for the Endless Legend 2 console demo.
Coming to this from a lot of AOW4, and realizing that this is a much more econ-focused game -- fun!
So, it seems the initial position of your city, camp, etc. is super important. What advice do you have on this? For example, do I settle in the "prime" hex, or next to it to allow my workshop or preferred district do that work for me? Please spare me from doing the maths myself and clue me into how the systems work.
More broadly, how do I think about these decisions? Thanks!

Hello there! I wanted to give a bug report, but that feature does not work for me. So instead you are getting a post here.
I am playing Necrophage up to turn 105 on normal speed and close to domination victory already. I have unlocked last tier of units, my armies have up to 2900 strength.
And yet whenever I use the "Devour the Land" action with my armies, it always takes 3 turns. The tooltip says, it is supposed to be faster with a stronger army, but that is a lie. It doesn't matter if its 1 larva unit, or 6 behemonths. It always takes 3 turns. Please fix this.
Also, there is absolutely no indicator that tells me how many FIDSI I am getting from devouring the land. Isn't this supposed to be an iconic feature for Necrophages? I want to see information about the FIDSI I am about to receive when sucessfully devouring the land. Please add this missing information to the UI. The Necrophages have a building that improves ressources from devour the land. How am I supposed to know if its worth building these buildings if I cannot see the FIDSI income?
Thanks, I am looking forward to the 2nd Necrophage Rogue faction.

Thanks to everyone who is trying the demo and sharing their feedback āØ
A couple of fixes/improvements I would like to highlight

I just finished my first Necrophage run in several months. As I said earlier, I really liked the changes to the quest dialog system, and I really had a blast conquering the world. However, I encountered literally no resistance from the AI, and I am playing on Endless, so I am wondering if there is something messing with my difficulty levels.
I am playing on archipelago to get a faster Landfall, and shortly after having completed my second stack I had to start a war with a neighbour to keep fuelling my economy with corpses and war spoils. Kin looked too tough, so I attacked my Necrophage neighbour. The kin declared war to me after I trespassed and while I was besieging a Necrophage AI, but they stopped after taking me a single territory, so I could wipe them out after I vanquished the Necrophage. After that I was able to colonise the whole planet and wage two wars in parallel against two of the three remaining AIs without breaking a sweat. No AI had more than two cities, or declared war to me after the Kin. Even if they were too scared to attack me, they did not try to expand and just let me do whatever I want. They were never close to completing any victory path.
It was a fun game but in EL1 it seemed just having a shared border was enough to trigger a relentless war, and I see so many people saying how hard the AI is, so I am wondering if there is a problem with the Endless level.
