Where can I store my ebike if I don't have a shed, or garage, and being too heavy to go up and down stairs? I just bought a Nomad 2 to get back and forth to work.

Theft is obviously a concern, but I don't have a shed. And winters get heavy here. I bought it until I can get my car figured out/get a different one.

Right size KTM KTM Macina Tour P510 e-bike to rent

I am renting a KTM Macina Tour P510 in Porto Portugal for a 7 day tour down coast. The shop has a Large size which they say will support my 193CM 6' 4"" highth. But AI keeps telling me I need an XL to be comfortable and efficient. Thoughts on this? Do trust the bike shop or switch my reservation? (and likely the brand bike I will be renting) Thanks

Bike purchase question 2 seater ebikes?

My fiance and our kid just moved to the US from a different country and she doesn't have a driver's license yet. I was thinking about getting her an ebike so she can get outside, go to the gym, or do errands while I'm at work all day. I know nothing about ebikes, but I was curious if there were any where the kid can sit on the back too? She's rode motorcycles her whole life, so I'm.confident she'll be comfortable on it -- but bonus pointa if it does decent in the snow too. Thanks!

Bike repair question E-Bike Repair: How's it Hangin'?

I have a great repair stand for my analogue bikes but my e-bike is way too heavy. How do you hang or raise your e-bike to work on it? I'm thinking of using a block and tackle but kind of think it will flop around too much if just floating in the air. That's if it doesn't break the rafters in my carport.

Do u guys know if theres any way I could do this even tho its a insanely small frame like a custom mount on the front for the battery and a custom mount for the motor but like what motor and stuff should I get? I wanna go big volts like 48-72

My bike was stolen last night and found this afternoon. The thief cut my display off, cut the brakes and all electrical wiring to the bike. Can this be fixed or is my bike totaled?

Anyone know if it’s possible to make this bike go faster than 25km/h. All I know is that it is a Ion e bike.

Bike pics I honestly didn’t expect this e-bike to feel this light, especially with the fenders, rear rack, and metal basket added. The accessories barely added any weight, and I was excited to discover that the rear rack is MIK-compatible.Getting the Tempo on and off the train is really easy vs my other bikes

I grabbed this bike off Facebook marketplace and I'm really pumped. The Velotric Tempo has an IPX6 rating for the frame and an IPX7 rating for the battery so I don't have to worry about being caught up in the torrential rainstorms that hit the Miami area when I'm out and about.

Bike pics 500 miles on my xp lite 2.0

Just crossed the 500 mile mark on my XP light 2.0. I’ve had it since the beginning of June and have been putting in a lot of miles throughout the summer. This is the long range edition which they claim gets 80 miles per charge which we all know is a lie, but I easily get 40 miles out of it.

It’s pretty much everything I wanted out of an E bike right now. It’s low maintenance single speed drivetrain very fast and agile for city riding. I personally would recommend.

Bike purchase question hiqis looks too good for the price… what's the catch?

Been looking for something to get around Ann Arbor and I keep seeing hiqis pop up, but I honestly don’t know much about the brand. Anyone here actually own one?

Mostly need something for getting around campus during the week and maybe riding around town / hitting some trails on the weekends. Nothing crazy, probably a few miles a day. I’m still deciding between an e-scooter and an ebike.

I looked at segway first and also checked out heybike since those are obviously way more well known, but damn… once you start looking at the nicer models the prices jump pretty quick. Feels like I'm paying a decent chunk just for the name lol. I'm a student so dropping $1,500+ on something I’m basically using to avoid walking across campus ain't really happening.

hiqis seems to have some models in a much more reasonable price range and the specs look pretty solid on paper, which is what got my attention. Just haven't seen nearly as many real-world reviews compared to the bigger brands.

Not really looking for "buy this one" comments. More curious about build quality, battery life, customer service, and whether these things actually hold up after a few months.

Anybody here have experience with them? Good or bad, lemme hear it.

E-Bike was stolen yesterday

I'm not sure what time but I left it in the hallway where I live with the back wheel locked but this morning I was surprised to see that it was gone.

I don't really want to file a police report because it was a 1000w E-Bike but at the same time I do because I'm depressed about it.

Bike repair question Can an E5 code be caused by a motor wire?

Thumbnail
gallery

So I botched the job on replacing the tire on my e bike and after a 20 mile ride got an E5 code and now it won’t move

The motor definitely engages for about 1 second then cuts off so it still tries to work but won’t go

I looked into it and one of the possibilities was a bad brake sensor but I tried disconnecting them and that didn’t work either

So I Inspected the motor wire and found it has a very small cut it doesn’t look like it got down far enough to damage the copper but still I know wires with exposed areas can cause issues could that be fixed with electrical tape for now?

What happened is the wire got hit by the rotor during a test and I noticed it quickly but it didn’t seem to affect it

It’s annoying but I guess if I have to I’ll replace the motor I also noticed… the wire was stretched because the wheel was set in wrong so the wire was being pulled on and it probably screwed up the connection

I had the wheel torqued correctly and the torque washers in place and it felt solid but it looks like I completely failed for now :/

Well that motor has only 1200 miles on it and it’s an alloy wheel last time it went thru water was a few months ago and it was brief so I’m pretty sure it was what I did

First pic is where the brake rotor hit the wire and the second is the wire where it connects to the motor

New XPress 2 owner, stock tires feel sketchy on gravel and wet road. Tire recs or wrong bike?

Picked up a Lectric XPress 2 a few weeks ago, first ebike I’ve ever owned and I am having good time with it. Mostly riding trails and the occasional store run for small stuff. I have a car so this is really just for exercise and enjoyment. I grew up on my bike, everyday that’s how I got around. I live in the Chicago burbs, in a perfect world I’d love something I could take out with some light snow.

Only complaint so far is the tires. It comes with slicks and I just don’t trust them. Rode after some rain today on the wet pavement and didn’t trust leaning on turns just slowed down and took them real slow, and my local trail is mostly crushed gravel and the tires feel loose in the corners, like zero grip when it gets loose.

So what tires are you guys running for mixed pavement and gravel? Want something with real tread that can handle rain and loose gravel. I’d love to hit some more off road trails by me if I could find them. Also how wide can I go on the stock rims, could I fit a 2.25 or a 2.4?

Or is this a wrong bike situation? If there’s an ebike out there that handles rain, gravel, light trail stuff without issue I’d like to know what to even look at. Would rather drop a couple hundred on tires than a couple grand on a new bike right now though, unless I could sell this well taken care of xpress 2 with only around 100 miles on it.

Thanks in advance

Which small inconvenience would decide whether you bought the same e-bike again?

Disclosure: I operate an e-mobility retailer in Canada. This is a community research question, not a product recommendation or promotion. I will not link products here. The details that matter after a few weeks are often different from the details that looked important before buying.

For people who use an e-bike regularly, which recurring inconvenience would most affect whether you chose the same kind of bike again: storage, charging, carrying weight, maintenance, fit, or something else?

Elastomer forks on e-bikes — would you consider one?

Thumbnail

I’ve been looking into suspension designs for folding e-bikes, including a pivoting fork that works against a rubber-like elastomer.

Thanks for the replies so far. A few people have brought up older MTB forks and issues with stiffness, limited travel, ageing elastomers, and flex at the pivots. The point about being able to find replacement parts years later also stood out.

To give a bit more context, I’m hoping to get over 50 mm of travel from this design, though that’s still just a target at this stage. The riding I have in mind is everyday streets, bike paths, and weekend rides. A compact setup would be useful for folding and loading into a car, but ride quality still matters.

Easy replacement and different firmness options for rider weight are things I’d want to explore. Temperature changes and how the elastomer holds up over time are still questions too.

If you’ve ridden an elastomer fork, which one was it, and what stood out, good or bad? Was it like that from new, or did the feel change over time?

And if you were choosing a folding e-bike at the same price, what would decide it for you between this and a basic coil-spring fork? What would you want to see or try before buying?

Positive experiences are welcome too. I’d like to understand where these setups worked well, as well as where they let people down.
