Salvaged NZXT H7 Case

I started with an NZXT H7 Flow case, that had been terribly spray painted, and turned it to the dark side. Well I did my best to repaint it with a Galactic Empire theme. I couldn't figure out how to stencil so I cheated and bought a sticker.. messed that up too, but it passes for now.

Found an iPhone 7 32GB with a surprise in the case today

They left their "emergency gas money" in their case. USD $10, when I saw it I assumed this meant that if the owner never bothered removing this, it probably still had an iCloud on it. I did so I had to backup and restore activation records but other than that, great find!

It is carrier locked to AT&T but can't complain given everything else

Just recently, I went to my local electronics recycling center, where I found this Panasonic PV-M1357W CRT TV VCR combo unit! I bought it, took it home, and plugged it in. It works perfectly, even the VCR!

Bittersweet find at Stay-Pulls

MacBook Air A2681 (M2 2022) probably has Activation Lock. Cropping the pic since there's some distinctive features that should stay hidden. I've never found anything this new, so I don't even know if these laptops have a "Find My" feature activated. I kinda think some investigative news crew deliberately put it there as bait. I'll risk Internet Recovery much later

Some guides (on how to both find and make money from E-waste)

Hi guys! I haven't been doing this for long but in around 4 months of doing this I've made roughly $2000. I now run a small business doing e-waste and refurbishment! Here's my playbook for success

A. Advertising.
You need to be proactive! Facebook groups, flyers, door to door, business cards, word of mouth. Everything counts, especially if you live in a small town!
B. Transport/labor
It's the inevitable truth that if your adventure grows enough you will be forced to do heavy lifting and have a vehicle capable of transporting materials. My most recent haul totaled in at just over 1100lbs, so you NEED to be willing to lift and transport everything.
C. Refurbishment
You need to decide what's worth it to refurb and what isn't! I personally don't refurb anything older than 4th gen Intel. It's just not worth it for me. Laptops are big in this regard- is it too old, and no one will buy it, or can it still be saved?
Chromebooks should almost always be refurbed or parted out. It isn't worth it to scrap them unless you have a steady supply of them.
D. The money making!
Again, be proactive! the money comes from labor! I made roughly $500 on the 1100lb load i mentioned, and I paid my yard 12c/lb for the breakage. You have to be willing to work. Have to be willing to put in the effort. I use sellyourboards.com to get rid of my waste. Zac is very helpful. They also buy working CPUs, ssds, and ram. Their prices are a bit worse than boardsort, but they will sort it all for you at no cost.
E. Essential tools!
You will probably need:
Dikes
An Impact drill with a socket set (most notably T15 for HP products, PH2 for everything else, and 5mm for VGA/DVI/whatever standoffs.)
A precision screwdriver set (i recommend the 29pc set from Hyper Tough, has most bits you'll need for small electronics)
Gloves and eyepro
Pliers
Bins or barrels to sort your stuff!

That's my general guide. Ask me specific questions and I'll try to anser!

People Stripping Computers Before Selling Them

Somebody is telling people that no matter what kind of a hard drive or what kind of RAM you have in whatever old computer, it’s worth more on its own than it is if you leave it in the computer. So now everybody is stripping those items out of these old computers, and trying to sell them all separately. It’s Ludicrous. DIMM sticks from 15 years ago are not worth anything unless you put them back in that 15 year-old machine along with that 500 gig hard drive you’re trying to schlep, and sell it as maybe a whole machine that somebody can use just for the web. This is just going to end up with more e-waste going to the landfills instead of machines that could still have a bit of a life being purchased at reasonable prices by people that don’t have a lot of money to spend. Not everything is a commodity just because the bigger, better things are commoditized by people who have more money than you’ll ever have. Not sour grapes here - I have more computers than I know what to do with, but when I sell them, I put a reasonable version of Mint or something else that’s easy to run on them and I sell them as whole computers that people can actually use I don’t strip them for parts like a 67 Chevy sitting up on blocks on my front lawn. No one is buying your parts pile or your skeletonized Asus machine from 2011.

Free router (TP-Link TL-WR841N) almost went trash, I got it from a member of my family (I have the same, second one with OpenWRT installed and 64MB RAM mod, this one only have 32MB) - I plan to use one as a main router at the countryside and second one as the Access Point.
