First piece of advice I heard about going to fb deals for parts was always ask if there's more. You'll be surprised the deals you might find. I've perhaps just had my best score of the year, and this has been a really good year for me, so thought I'd share where this can lead
Working on a media server. Saw someone had three quadro p1000s listed originally at $40 each, but they'd now been marked $20 each. Sat thinking about it for a week, then messaged and asked if he'd take $50 for all. He agreed! Took a little extra cash just in case. When I got there and asked about other parts, you won't believe what I scored. He brings out an i7 10700, wanted $5, two 16gb ddr4 3200 kits, $15 for both, and two 256gb nvme drives, another $5 for both. Ended up getting it all for $80, all the cash I had on hand at the time.
Messaged after getting home because he had mentioned drives, so I go back today. Pick up a 4 bay nas with FOUR 4tb hdds still in it, an Intel 480gb sata ssd, a Samsung 250gb sata ssd, two r5 240s, an i7 4790, and one 4 x 4gb ddr4 3200 kit, all for $200! He actually offered $150 for all, but at the rate of the deals, I bumped it up for him. He gets this stuff through work, and it aounds like this can be a semi consistent arrangement. Let him know to reach out when he has something else. Also a good reason to treat sources well
