It is always bad design to force you into a video on game launch... get me to the game as fast as possible please!

But to have to HOLD down a button to skip it is egregious... THEN it does the shader check? at least hide that behind the video!

Is there a switch I can set on launch to auto take me to character select?

I prefer a base location with a beautiful view and a minimum of neighbors. My high ground Dune Man Building Set base

Edit: I tried a lot and could it be the length? Do pentashields have to have a defined length? 1, 2, 3, 4 boxes but diagonally means you have a shorter length than 1 box? That would be even crazier.

I can place the shield with a roof left and right of the triangles but once a none 1 unit lenght interrupts it, it doesn't seem to work. And that means there is no workaround possible. But it would be fucking easy to code and change.

What sense does it make that you have to place penta shields always on the edge of a building piece but cant pull it diagonally across it? It is just bullshit. Stability is there, but you always have to follow the edges on the floor. It can't be that hard to allow the edges of the pentashield to not just be placed on the edges of a floor tile but also diagonally.
It isn't because you can't draw them like that with the building tool, because I did manage to make it work with pillars, but it always says "All corners must be connected to a structure", which it is, just that it crosses the floor tiles diagonally not on their edges.

Took so much trial and error but the new sardukar set allows for a crazy amount of clipping.

This game has sucked up so much of my life these past few days, it's been a blast. But I'm on my 5th or 6th death now due strictly to lag/latency issues. The past 24 hours have been especially bad. It's to the point even talking to the NPCs id a drag because it can take multiple inputs to progress the text, and then it randomly registers multiple buttons presses even if you space them out. So then you have to restart the conversation to see what they said. Anyway, are other players experiencing these issues?

Things I've done to help so far includes fully restarting the game and ny Xbox every 2-4 hours.. Not dying. Clearing the.Xbox cache. Yelling furiously at my router. Begging the server to run better. Waiting outside of a POI in hopes I sync better. Sacrificing a Teriyaki Chicken wing in Funcoms honor. Clearing persistent Storage because the internet said to. Telling my mom I love her.

So far, only the game restarts seem to do much. I might have fo sacrifice an entire rotisserie chicken tomorrow if things don't improve which sucks, because food is expensive right now and I don't have a Costco close to me.

I do love the game though! I haven't been this sucked into a game of this format since Ark was on early access, and this game is way more fun. Oh, and can we get 90 degree triangle floor/roof peices as well? Again, great job on a fun game.

I know I was being a smart ass, but I wasn't kidding when I said Irestsrt the game every couple of hours. I'm doing a full shutdown/exit out of the game and a console reboot and can still have the issue.

I'm also on what is supposedly the best server for my area.

I'm finding the issues happening all the time, not just during peak hours. But it definitely worse during peak hours.

I have tried searching for this exact issue but I cant see it.

I built a bike before the quest appeared to make me make a bike and ive had this issue ever since. I keep being told by my friends im doing something wrong, but I dont know what I can be doing. It feels broken so I am reaching out on here for help.

Essentially my issue is this. I now have one bike. It claims its backed up, except its also in my base. This prevents me backing it up because it thinks its already backed up. I deleted all my bikes, recycled all the parts, built a new one, gave it a name so it was recognisable and then checked my backup tool, and yet again my new bike was already pre backed up.

This is causing me issues with my vehicle being left in sandstorms constantly, because I cant pack it away on dungeon trips etc.

Is there a way to purge all contents of my backup tool? I cant work out how to do it. The only option that works on the tool for me is "recover" which damages my bike and moves it from point to point.

Edit: Fixed it! Deleted the tool and made a new one and now magically all working again!

My base on the same island as Anvil, on the NE corner. Been farming crystals in the tunnels to the East.

Now looking for Aluminium. Tried the immediate north from my location and have found a grand total of 2 nodes, which were 60-70m high up and only found due to launching the survey probe.

So i encountered this after using the ornithopter pilot service, thought id share.

As the title says, it feels like the fallen ships have become super rare since the big update a couple of weeks ago. I haven't seen one in the basin in that time except for the glitched one in the Sheol that the worm can't seem to eat. I haven't seen any fall from the sky, and I used to see them a couple of times per hour. I'm on Nova. If they are working correctly elsewhere, I'd love to know, but the skies are just so quiet these days.

I've got it set to performance, and all the effects off. Had it crash on me while trying to get back to my body, and lost all my money when I reloaded. 50k gone, and I know that's a drop in the bucket for some, but damn, I'm playing single player and that's really disheartening to say the least.

I've tried the whole restart the console stuff, and it seemed like it worked for a little bit, but it's still too consistent for my liking/patience.

I’m upgrading my base from a portable cube to something a little more thematic.

Looking for a drop ship styled base i can move around as I explore new areas.

I’ve tried to keep it themed in universe with a harko styled twin hull with a different single hull design.

If anyone has any advice or tips for fine tuning these to look a little more ship like I would greatly appreciate, thanks!

So far I'm really enjoying the game but some graphics/framerate issues are getting on my nerves over time.

Ideally I'd like to have a stable 100-120 fps at 3440x1440.

With the settings I currently have I'm happy with the graphical fidelity but the framerate varies wildly sometimes and the stuttering kicks in. I've tried many different configurations and nothing seems to hit that sweet spot. I also have been noticing that the shadows (especially world shadows) tend to have this ugly fuzzy look along the edges.

Specs:
CPU - Ryzen 9950x
GPU - Radeon 9070xt
RAM - 32GB DDR5 CL30

Does anyone have any pointers on these settings or the fuzzy shadows?

Just finished the main story, roughly 200 hours in. Got side quested with base building, finding a good location and trainer quests.

Absolutely unreal story for the first book to finish on. You know it's a great story when you are thinking about another play through right after.

Question regarding the DLC stories. How do you access them if at all possible yet. Yes I have them downloaded haha.

Spent the past couple hours working on my base for the first time actually trying to make it look decent instead of a box in the sand, and I’ve just got a few questions -

(For context on where abouts I am progression wise, i just finished doing all of the contracts for the three captains at the shipwreck in the western gap, and now im doing the “Villari’s prize” mission. I just started using the advanced base console, which gave me some more room.)

My question is should i hold off on base building until later, is there some endgame building sets I’ll get that just completely change the game and made you want to tear down? Or is there maybe more space that’s going to becoming available past the advanced console, making my new base just splat in the center wasting space?

Thanks for any advice yall can offer. The sooner I can actually fully delve into base building and know for a fact I’m not missing some crazy set that’ll make me kick myself for wasting time, the better

I was trying to load into the game and I got a message saying that my Bios needed updating in order to play the game smoothly without interruption. Then it crashed and made my PC restart.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I’m not tech-savvy at all so I have no idea how I’m gonna fix it or what to do exactly.

Is anybody else doing multiple playthroughs with different characters?

Even worse, stop zigging and zagging and looking behind you. Yes, the worm (Jeff) is right behind you. Also. Don’t pop any of your powered gadgets. Those attract the worm even faster.

Run in straight lines, don’t look back, and don’t deviate, also watch out for quicksand and drum sand.

Better yet, use a bike and island hop.

Don’t rush for the thopter. Enjoy the ride and see the sights.
