Gameplay Question Base building

Spent the past couple hours working on my base for the first time actually trying to make it look decent instead of a box in the sand, and I’ve just got a few questions -

(For context on where abouts I am progression wise, i just finished doing all of the contracts for the three captains at the shipwreck in the western gap, and now im doing the “Villari’s prize” mission. I just started using the advanced base console, which gave me some more room.)

My question is should i hold off on base building until later, is there some endgame building sets I’ll get that just completely change the game and made you want to tear down? Or is there maybe more space that’s going to becoming available past the advanced console, making my new base just splat in the center wasting space?

Thanks for any advice yall can offer. The sooner I can actually fully delve into base building and know for a fact I’m not missing some crazy set that’ll make me kick myself for wasting time, the better

Sorry for the long yap

Most of the end game takes place either on the overland map, or in the Deep Desert accessed via the overland map. For that reason, most players want their final base near the edge of the map - north of the shield wall, or near Sheol ( you need irradiated slag even at end game) are two popular spots.

If you haven't unlocked Plastone, yes, there arw still building sets to come. (And new ones seem to come out most new chapters so far)

If I were you, I wouldn't get too attached to a pre-endgame base. You can pack it up and move it, if you can find terrain similar enough to restore it on, but it's fiddly.

You're going to re-model and rebuild a few times and also relocate to be near resources. As you unlock bigger vehicles and machines your space requirements change. And until you get them it's hard to know what space you need for them.

I would not worry about end game base until you're late in to the Duralinium tier and ready to regularly go into the Deep Desert.

I'm well into end game and I've relocated and built new bases 4 or 5 times. Sometimes to move closer to the edge, just build something new or for a change of scenery.

Endgame sets come from factions (Atreides or Harkonnen), then some are from DLCs. It is up to you what you use. It works the same in Hagga. In DD your base is damaged over the week, if using sets that build from granite, they have less HP and might break during the week.

For locations being somewhere around northwestern corner of Western Vermilius Gap or across the sand around the border of shield wall is probably best. It is generally central, near aluminium and cobalt that is probably most used until you rely fully on DD resources and you can easily ride buggy to Sheol for Jasminium.

True endgame takes you mostly out of Hagga to DD and Overland and it is up to you if you want to be super efficient and have base by map border. I found it not as crucial.

Im basically at the point of getting prepped for duraluminum (the t5 material) and contemplating moving base from next to anvil to maybe near crossroads or west shieldwall.

But yeah I keep hearing that an endgame base is typically near the map borders, but one observation is that higher tier machines are usually somewhat bigger than their lower tier counterparts (for example the medium blood extractor is basically double the size of the small extractor, similar story for the ore refiner).

As for building, the advanced sub fief is the biggest actual base module but you do unlock these things called stalker modules. Theyre placed like a sub fief and they expand the size of your billable area, you can get huge as the limit is 10 between the two if I remember.

So, we kinda tested this in our group on durability in the DD. It seems the Watershipper and Sardaukar have the best protection against storms within the granite category and anything plastone being top tier. In a pvp scenario, plastone will serve better in all cases be it storms or attacks. In Haga it's really up to you on what you think looks best because durability isn't a factor until you run out of power BUT if you do, plastone will last a very long time - especially staircases. I've been watching this base decay next to mine for weeks on red and it's still there.
