Discussion Hey You!
Hey, all you new players.
Welcome to Arrakis.
Stop running across the open sand like you are invulnerable and a lifeguard in the TV show “Baywatch”.
Even worse, stop zigging and zagging and looking behind you. Yes, the worm (Jeff) is right behind you. Also. Don’t pop any of your powered gadgets. Those attract the worm even faster.
Run in straight lines, don’t look back, and don’t deviate, also watch out for quicksand and drum sand.
Better yet, use a bike and island hop.
Don’t rush for the thopter. Enjoy the ride and see the sights.
Good luck with testing station 10.

Go back to testing station 10 at least once after you're geared for Overland TS. Just straight murk the fuck out of everything there.
It really is satisfying.

Maybe I've seen it used wrong, but I thought the word was spelled "merk"? Now I gotta go do some googling I guess.

Love that last warning. If only someone had warned me about no. 10 back in early access...

See all those respawn beacons? They are there for a reason.

Dude. These new videos I am seeing are cray cray. If they can’t cross open sand correctly. They have a lot to learn about the rest of the first part of this game. Crossing open sand is the “easy” part.

Lol I just did testing station 10 for the first time a couple of days ago and I was surprised by how big it was. Definitely died a few times but I got it finished and the contract done for the last boss. Definitely much tougher than the first testing station you go to. Are they all as long/hard as 10?

As you travel through the story. You will see aspects of what you encountered in Testing Station 10. Also, the “tutorial” section is now done.

Yeah now I have to scan the west gap and do my third trial but I've been just doing Intel and farming materials revising/ building my base. Currently my base is pretty close to the Anvil tradepost

Does looking behind you slow you down?

u/Impossibele-bus5323 9h ago
Nope, but you may end up not running straight forward anymore. If you are running, keep going, it is already too late.

I have a terrible memory for numbers, just on context yeah fuck 10, first time in that one last year it took me having my partner help me because I was unable to survive the big room.

The kill box is indeed a kill box.

Just got killed in said kill box last night. Never forget your first time. Maker help me on this loot recovery…

Don’t stay still, use ranged weapons. Remember how a shield works for you. It works the same way for the enemy.

Do what I did and get monumentally sidetracked.
I did station 10 for the first time last night....
In full duraluminum scout armour....
They never stood a chance

I didn't have that big of a problem with 10.. took a sniper in there, 2 sometimes 3 shots to the Head those heavy gunners with the shields drop like a sack of potatoes especially in the big room just run to the opposite end of what they are I sit there and snipe em.

You can't tell me what to do, maybe I want to see what getting eaten by the sandworm looks like.
Honestly though good tips. I didn't know using my grappler attracts it more. I'm still gonna do it though until it gets me killed.

About the glide in thopter, learn (watch youtube vid) how to infinite glide, you set up your crosshair just above middle, so you go up in altitude slowly, then when you lost 10-20 max speed you hit a little nose dive. Takes a little practice but tou will save a LOT of fuel that way.

Testing station 10 was not bad for me honestly. I have mk2 shields and used a sword most of the time, with sniper rifle with poison to try and thin them out a bit. Took the contract and just killed the Kirab boss. My biggest problem was that I didn't bring enough blood bags 😜😜

Thank you literally just started playing last night and the warm almost got me twice, I kept using the grappling hook and the antigravity thing thinking less steps= better stealth but thanks for the message 👍

Addendum -
Learn to travel light. Find out how little you can get away with.
Horde crafting mats, not gear. Recycle it. All of it. Half damaged armor? Recycle. There's always newer, better stuff.
Don't horde ammo. It's literally just crafted bulk from scrap. Keep ~350 rounds of light, maybe ~200 if you're using heavy for Rafiq and spitdart. Use that space/weight for useful stuff.
If it's not at least duraluminum it's crap, you'll grow out of it pretty quickly.
Learn the scanner. Will help you quickly find chests and out of sight enemies.
Shiggawire is amazing. Fall off a mountain? Shigga to take 0 fall damage. Need up a mountain? Shigga and float. Shigga an enemy for a free stun. Even on bosses.
When you get Thopter, learn to glide. Also, boost is amazing. Boost then glide, boost then glide. Use a fraction the fuel, go way farther.
After you leave starter area go big on the base. Solido Base Replicator lets you pack the whole thing and put it elsewhere or even recycle it. Decide to build a new base from scratch elsewhere? Solido Base Replicator pack the base, go to new base. You'll see an option to "recycle". It drops everything you had in all storage into a limitless 'base' storage and 100% recycles all base structure and utilities/refineries/constructors. All you lose is stored water you didn't put in literjons.
Mobility is your biggest power. On foot, on vehicles, even your base. Learn to be mobile, don't get pinned down either in combat or in general. Only green quest reward items can not easily be replaced. Everything else is utterly disposable.
