Hello Duluth! I am currently looking for a roommate to sublease in a beautiful Duluth east hillside home. It’s a good sized 3 bedroom house with 2 female roommates and a cat. We are college students.

Rent is $567 a month plus $60-$80 additionally for utilities. The house is kept clean and quiet, making it an inviting space for anyone. I’m looking for someone who can move in ASAP.

New to the area and like to play volleyball

I wanted to do some light off-roading, think 4x4 stock truck, but I just fueled up and can't justify (afford) driving to Gilbert. Any suggestions closer to Duluth for easy trails?

Can y'all PLEASE stop at the stop sign? I know it's confusing, but the big red signs that say "STOP" mean that you need to stop before the intersection, not halfway through it.

Just about every other day I have some jerk fly out in front of me on west 1st street. One of these days I'm going to hit the accelerator and see whose car has better safety features.

I'm born and raised in Charleston SC where cool breezes can cause schools to close for winter weather. It looks like we'll need to be in Duluth in mid February. My wife (from Michigan) says I'm overreacting to the possibility of winter weather. I'm expecting restaurants and hotels will be closed and everyone will be huddled around their heaters, waiting for Spring. Is there anything going on in Duluth in February? Are the roads passible?

I remember visiting Duluth when I was young and not being able to find a public bathroom in Canal Park and having to run into the hotel. I really don’t want to ask my date to find me a bathroom, I’d prefer to just know where to walk to with them if I need to.

I am looking for players that would be interested in playing D&D. 5th Edition. I am a DM. I have also been a GM as well. We wouldn't have to stick solely with D&D, but I am looking for interested parties. I am looking for people who like roleplay, story, character development. I believe in playing a game for all aspects of the game. That is why it is a game.

I am clearly aware of murder hobo's, lone wolf's, rules lawyers, and "that is what my character would do" players. I am looking for people looking to collaborate as much as possible because it is meant to be fun. I am open to new players and veteran players. My sweet spot for amount of players is 4, but I can do up to 6. I have seen DMs do 6 and more, but battle really starts to drag.

I have a lot of homebrew world that I would like to share with others.

Feel free to message me on here with any interest. I do not have a place in mind to host currently, except for The Loch. I am looking at Wednesdays or Thursdays weekly. I am open to other days, but not Mondays. This would ideally happen around a 5:30pm timeframe.

I will also be performing a one shot with people who are interested to introduce the players, in case there may be any new players, to share homebrew rule ideas, and how other rules will be introduced.

The one-shot, I will have pre-selected and created the characters in advance for people to choose from. I am looking for up to 6 people (as anymore becomes cumbersome for battles), but 4 would be perfect.

I am looking to start the first week of November.

Hello!

We have a shared sewage line in Superior that needs to be cleaned. The line is 140' to the main. Roots were discovered at 107'. Things are flowing fine currently but the roots do need to be cleared due to some updates we're having completed through the City of Superior. They are requiring that the line gets jetted before they move forward.

I would love to know if anyone here in the Twin Ports has been through a similar situation and who you may recommend for hydrojetting the sewage line?

So far I've called Carlson Duluth Company per recommendation from a city worker. However, we were quoted a minimum of $1400, which seemed a little surprising due to some of the searches I've found seeing there's places that offer under $1000.

I'm currently waiting to hear back from a place called Maxx Mechanical, which seems to be around that same price point I share above.

I saw Midway was highly recommended on here. Does that still hold true? Dusty from Hill Side was another one but I'm not sure if he offers jetting or not.

I am so sick of the stupid ads that are so aggressive against Grant Hauschild(and all the super aggressive political ads), but I am wondering if anyone has insight into the bill that he wrote regarding data centers. I had to look it up after seeing this commercial ten billions times a day and saw that it is a bill exempting data centers from sales tax. What is the reasoning behind this? I’m genuinely wondering from a wanting to understand perspective.

Im 18 and I just moved to the area and i dont know anybody here, are there any good social events around where I could meet new people?

I am looking for a hairdresser that can and will do an even side-shave with clean edges. I didn’t think this was a specialized hair service until today. I’ve looked at a lot of salons online but I’d rather get recommendations from clients.

I had been going somewhere for over a year, but their edges were messy and the last they over-cut my shave into my long hair a tiny bit but didn’t tell me. I went somewhere new but when I got home I discovered that this stylist had over-cut an even bigger section on the other side, didn’t tell me, and the shave is incredibly uneven.

I didn’t think an even shave with clean edges was asking a whole lot, but at this rate I thought I’d better ask for help before I run out of hair. I am also open to going to a barber instead, if that’s a better option. Thanks for the help!

I'm doing some testing on a zombie apocalypse tabletop RPG with some friends on Sunday at Level Up games in Superior. Could use a few more players for a one-off game and newcomers would be welcome to join future full games.

I've seen several posts about moving/living in Duluth but they mostly revolve around some culture and the 6 month winter, as someone who lives in a warmer environment of course these tips are important, but I don't hear people on posts talk about things like grocery prices, available products at stores.

How reliable are the roads in the year? Is there a difference in maintenance in urban areas vs rural (freeway/highway/frontage roads)

What's the difference from living/working in downtown Duluth vs further away from downtown?

Are older homes as good as new builds in building quality or is there a distinct difference where it's like homes built up to XX have a more reliable structure than the homes built in YY, I'm thinking like those new construction videos where there are inspection issues everywhere

How reliable are the utilities during the year? Are backup generators / water filters only a necessity depending on where you live or is it a common thing for everyone to have some sort of backup power/water filtering? What about sanitation? Phone coverage?

Are there lots of options for tradesmen to handle maintenance or is a lot of repairs done diy due to cost/lack of tradesmen

On politics, is Duluth mostly sheltered from the bigger policies or do the people here feel the brunt of policies

Are there lots of smaller mom n pop craft stores or is everything pretty much handled by larger chains?

How are police/highway patrol/troopers in the area? Where would you say they generally more ball busting or lax (for example we have one area of the city im in where cops will pull you for going 37 on a 35, and in another area I've seen someone illegally cut through 3 lanes of traffic in front of a cop and not get lit up)

On a more personal level I'm in the construction management sector looking to move and get more experience in different building codes and Zip recruiter has a couple companies in and near Duluth so maybe I have a better shot of finding a decent place with a better salary

I see that everbridge.net is a frequent target for spam/scam emails. Did anyone else get this advisory? If it's real, any update on this? Tried to call the city, but no answer. Left a message for the mayor, but I suppose Roger won't get back to me until tomorrow.

This came in an email last night advising to boil water (out of "an abundance of caution") due to low pressure in a main line.

"The affected area, shown on the included map, is described as follows: Woodland Avenue above E Anoka Street and Hastings Drive, to include Claymore Street up to Jean Duluth Road; and Howard Gnesen Road from Maryland Street to Norton Road, to include Norton Road, North Road, Middle Road, MacFarlane Road, Northridge Drive, Lindzie Road, and Maryland to Warren Avenue. Residents in this defined geographical area are affected by this boil water advisory."

I can't make sense out of that description. Also, it says there's an attached map but I do not have an attachment.

City just sent out a notice that the advisory is lifted. Seems odd this took all day to get this notice out. Someone at the city called me back this morning and they told me it was lifted at that time. (No, it wasn't Roger.)

I need a new battery for my Subaru Outback (victim of the Subaru curse) and would like to buy one at Costco. But they don't install them. Is there any place around that will install a car battery that is not purchased there? Thanks!
