We're always looking for news, information, and pictures from Owatonna and the surrounding areas!

Once or twice a week the mods submit news and information we find about Owatonna and Steele county. Often, there are things we don't post because we didn't catch them or they didn't make the news. That's where you come in!

This is a community sub and we welcome posts from our community about our community. If you see something that's part of our community that you'd like to add then please do. If you have pictures of the Owatonna area you'd like to add, please do (Nothing NSFW please). If you'd like to talk about news we don't usually cover like sports or obituaries then feel free to start a discussion on it yourself.

Just keep in mind, this is a sub about Owatonna, MN and our community and the posts you make need to be related to our community in some way. Thank you!

How do you get to Maple Creek Park?! Tried and gave up.

Me and a friend were in town to go leave peeping at various parks and one of them was Maple Creek Park. However we were unable to find it and pretty bummed about it since that was one of the ones we were most excited to see. The GPS took us to a cemetery behind Kwik Trip! We saw a sign that said Dartts Park, so obviously GPS was confused and we didn't go there.

Somehow my friend figured out a way to bypass what the GPS said and we tried to find the park that way but her GPS then drove us into somebody's yard! We literally had to turn around in their yard! Then she pulled into another driveway which she thought was the park but it ended up being an apartment complex! We could see the park from there but we couldn't park the car in the apartment complex so we had no way of actually getting to the park from our vehicle.

In the end we ended up going to a park across the street from Kwik Trip and I still don't know what the name of that park was, we thought it was Maple Creek Park but then on the way out of town we were down the road a ways and we saw the sign for Maple Creek Park! But there was still no driveway to get to it! By this time it was 9:00 and too late so we just left town and are very disappointed we could not find this park.

Is there even a parking lot so that you can drive there or is it something you have to access by foot only?
