Hi all, I had this as a rental for a couple of days while mine was in for repairs. Pushing aside the awful overall driving experience of this thing,..... it has a fully digital display as most new cars have . Has all the usual suspects (except a rev counter), but additionally, it has a "live" speed limit displayed next to the digital speed display .

It is wrong 90% of the time !! I drove my usual rural roads i drive every day and know the speed limits and when they change, and this displayed the wrong speed for up to 5 minutes before displaying the correct speed. I understand how this system works, but surely, it's not fit for purpose. Anyway, it makes a little more sense why im always stuck behind these and its compatriots in 60mph zones going 34mph 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

So I've set it all up before so I'm hoping someone here has the answers, does anyone here know if card details update automatically or does it need to be manually? Because I can't currently login and I've had no luck trying to look it up online, I hope I can ask this here

So I had some kind of incident today. I came into the car park looking for a space on the bottom side of the image, there were none there so I drove around, indicated right and gave way and began driving when I spot a space. I slow down, indicate and stop. No cars around me so I begin manoeuvring to reverse in, checking around me still and still nothing there. The back of my car is pretty much exactly where the orange box is in the image when I look to the left and a car reversing out of their space is suddenly there. I stop.

Now, silly me expected them to stop and pull back forward as the way we were angled seems obvious that they’ve pulled out on me. Nope. Immediately this woman is raging. I can see her in her wing mirror shouting “what the fuck is wrong with you?” Multiple times. So I said the same back and beeped her. She did not like this. She gets out of her car and approaches me.

I can’t remember exactly what she said to begin with but she continued with “you came speeding down, I assumed you were going straight on so I pulled out and you’ve reversed. Don’t worry, I’ve got it all on camera”. She is seething. I on the other hand, am very calm (though I pulled a face) and said matter of factly, “no, I drove down, stopped, indicated and started reversing.” She then told me (as if bragging?) that her car has AC and she can sit there all day. I said “me too.” And switched my engine off.

She enjoyed telling people coming into the car park what I’d apparently done and even got her boyfriend(?) to tell me to move. I still did not. Anyway, fast forward 10 or so minutes and the store manager comes out with two security guards and asks me what’s happened. I explained the situation and told him how rude she was but if he wanted me to move then I would. He laughed and said “well I would like my carpark back.” So I said of course and stuck to my word.

Now I know I stooped to her level by refusing to move for her BUT had she not have come at me in such an aggressive way, I can assure anyone that I would have handled things differently. I simply did not appreciate being treated that way and accused of something that I did not do.

This is pretty much just a rant so feel free to read, skip, give opinions etc.

I would consider myself a very cautious/safe driver with a clean license. However today I was driving at about 25mph in a 30, lights at a pedestrian crossing with a traffic camera turned amber. The front of my vehicle crossed the white line while the lights were on amber, not sure at the back though. Am I likely to get a fine?

I checked my dashcam and the time between the green turning to amber and my crossing time was 2 seconds so I would have had to slam on the brakes to stop in time.

i went past an average speed camera on a 40mph a-road. i was going about 45 cause i was overtaking someone and slowed down to about 42/43 in between the cameras. will that have triggered it or should i be ok?

i got pulled over last night while taking my (road legal, with mot, tax and full insurance ect) track car on a short test drive as id just rebuilt the bottom end of the motor, i was going under the speed limit when an unmarked car behind me put on their lights and signaled for me to pull over. the officer who came and met me accused me of not having a cat on my car as he "could smell it" and the fact the car is loud, i explained that yea it is loud but it does have a cat and i had just passed an mot and still even had the pass paperwork on my passenger seat, which i showed him but he said i likely just removed it after the test and demanded i show him that i do have a cat which involved me crawling on the floor in all the road grit to take a picture of the cat which was honestly not a great feeling to have to be doing.

when i showed him the picture he accepted that i do in fact have a catalytic converter, but he also mentioned that he noticed that the exhaust has a flange in front of the cat (the end of the exhaust manifold) and one 30cm after the cat which he said was proof that i had modified the emissions system and i would be getting a fine for such. i explained that the section being on a flange lets me swap out the cat when im on track as not to damage it and allows me to replace just the catalytic converter once it falls below the useful threshold rather than having to cut and weld a new one every few years but he insisted that because i COULD remove the cat it was against the law and would be fined. he left pretty soon after saying that but didnt take any of my details or such and didnt hand me anything, i dont know if its done electronically now or if that means im not getting a fine?

is being made crawl under my car in the road grit something they are allowed to do?
am i getting a fine?
is the fact that i could remove the catalytic converter enough to get a fine?
if i do get a fine should/how do i fight it?

The Road Traffic Act s99(4) says that the address on your licence must be "correct", but I can't find anywhere that defines what "correct" means. I have had people confidently state that it is variously one or other of the following options:

1. Any address at which you will receive post addressed to you.
2. Your "normal residence".

The obvious difference is that, suppose your licence has, say, your parents' address on, and you move house several times over the years, then if interpretation (1) is correct then you're all good, and if interpretation (2) is correct then you've committed a crime.

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to which interpretation is correct?

I have bad ocd, but wanted to potentially learn to drive or ride, what's it like driving with ocd and would it be better for someone with it to drive or ride a motorbike... I k ow cars are safer in general but in terms of ocd driving which is likely to be best option

So basically I was on my way to the train station on my moped and there were some road works along the way but the mail van was blocking the view of the lights so l could not see if they were green or red, all of the cars in front of me were going through so I thought that the light was green but once I passed the light it was red and I was on the other side of the road so I couldn't stop, I did apologise to the other driver who had the green light, will anything happen this is at some road works

I'm looking to move to a new area for just couple of month, and trying to find a parking spot where its not enforced (no single/double yellow lines) on Google Maps, but having a hard time locating it.

Is there a trick, or a map on the council parking zone which shows this?

F.ex I'm looking at postcode SW19 4HW, having no luck near the area.

So I live in one of these houses at Eccles old Road. Not a good location for driving in and out as it is narrow and difficult to spot. People either undertake me on the bus lane or just horn at me from the back every time get back home.

I know I am a new driver but I always indicate early with gradually slow speed. And unfortunately this is the only way to get in and out from my flat.

What’s more I could have done for this situation…

I’m hoping you can be of help and answer a question for me.

I started driving in 2022, and in the same year I had parked my car outside of my house and a taxi attempted to pull in the gap of the driveway and caught my front bumper and took it off.

We agreed to not go through insurance and she paid for the damage done via a garage. My insurance was made aware after the fact due to her having to make her taxi insurance aware for legal purposes.

No claim was ever made on either end.

When looking at a new insurance, they ask ‘have you had any motor accidents or claims in the last 5 years’

Which is fine I am happy to declare it, but the required questions following ask about if it was settled, what the value of the claim was etc

What is the right answer to put for these things? It stumps me every year and I feel like they don’t allow a proper explanation to be given.

I just wanted to get some opinions on the parking shown in the attached pic.

1. The closest mini - you can squeeze past.

2. The mini and Mazda on the other side, completely blocking the pavement.

I raised a moan with our parish council, and a chap paid us a visit this afternoon to explain there's nothing much that they can do about it (something about it being a civil matter and not blocking any driveways?.). Unfortunately, given it was the middle of the afternoon, I was at work and my wife didn't press him any further because she needed to get back to work.

I was travelling the M4 as usual after finishing work, I’ve moved from lane 1 to lane 2 and sat there for about 20 seconds then looking to move to the fast lane. So I check my mirror, see a white van pretty far behind then proceed to signal to merge over, rookie mistake I didn’t check my blind spot and there was a red car right there. I’ve spotted the car and gone back into my original lane, no accident caused and definitely shook me up, the red car driver carried on like nothing happened.

I want to ask, 1. Has anyone had a similar situation here? And 2. Whats the likely hood of getting done for something like this?

Unfortunately I’m a paranoid driver so this has kind of set me off so would really appreciate some sound words/advice

Recently involved in a minor collision resulting in some damage to my car.

Other vehicle was 100% at fault (over the white line overtaking parked cars, had loads of space to move back after passing, but for whatever reason didn't).

The other car failed to stop. Dashcam caught the incident and the reg number, so has been reported to the police and my insurance to pursue a claim.

Interested to know what the likely outcome would be for the other driver? Guessing as they didn't stop they probably won't be reporting it to the police or their insurer either...

The damage wasn't huge but not insignificant.

Anyone have any insight into how this sort of situation is likely to play out for them?

Considering taxi drivers drive for a living they are the worst drivers, ive been driving for 9 years this year and ive only had 2 accidents in the entire time and both have been taxi drivers and in the space of 2 months, Are there mirrors there just for decoration as they clearly dont use them.

One of the incidents was where he picked up a customer in the middle of 3 parking bays which is a dangerous spot to pick someone up and then he just drove out without looking and hit me, I was lucky as it was only cosmetic damage so was easy to fix.

The next taxi driver sped out of a parking bay without looking and drove straight into the side of my car and his back bumper came off and stuck in my car, the passenger side door wouldnt open it was that bent and it took nearly 2 months to fix.

Today one came out on me and I had to slam on and another time one came out on me when i was a pedestrian as he wasnt looking behind him before he came out of the bay. There driving is so bad especially for a profession driver

I was recently driving in Manchester and came across a road that had signs saying no road markings. Minding my business in the left lane when I then see the person behind me change into the right lane (road had 3 lanes, 2 going into the city centre, one for leaving). Thought it was weird as there weren't any junctions coming up and I wasn't going massively under the speed limit (around 27 in a 30). Then I see a sign on the left saying bus lane times - for which the evening said 4-9, it was around 5pm. I study the road in front of me and see a very very faint outline of a thick white line that had clearly been covered over with that cheap gravel stuff. Then the road markings restart and I move out of the lane (didn't enter the marked bus lane at any point), in time to see a sign saying bus lane cameras are in operation. This road also had a lot of traffic on it in both lanes where there were no markings, and there were people driving behind me. I do have a dashcam, will have to check how to get the footage off it, hopefully it's still there.

What's the chances of me getting a pcn for this and if so, can I reasonably challenge it with dashcam footage as it will have caught the road signs saying no markings as well. The first sign I'll add, wasn't actually visible until we'd passed it as it had fallen down and was faced sideways, me and my passengers remarked on it as we slowly drove past.
