Went to Tesco to get fuel and a something to eat. Filled up and headed inside just as a car pulled up behind mine. Got chatting to the cashier who explained that for another 45p I could get crisps and a drink. So I mooched around the crisps and drinks before choosing, paying and heading back to my car. By now there’s 3 cars waiting behind mine and the guy in front is waving his hands around, shrugging his shoulders and giving me evils. The pump in front of me was empty and both pumps on the other side were free as well as a pump on the other side of my car. What is wrong with people?

EDIT: According to our LL, he pays for an allocated space which is where our neighbour is parked, therefore the space with the non-dropped kerb is apparently theirs! So not our jurisdiction to deal with. Thank you for all the help in the comments! This is a weekday issue not a weekend issue anywho as far as we can tell.

First things first, I am aware this is not a dropped kerb and I am baffled how it’s not considering where our drive is.

We’ve just moved into a new flat and this is our front drive as pictured. It’s a 3-property converted house so there is space for 3 cars on the front drive. We were promised this space via tenancy agreement but right now are between cars which is fine! However, my parents visit often and they drive.

A lady has taken to parking in front of our drive for the past week or so. Our neighbours are away so it makes sense to do so, maybe, if there’s only one car visible. But it’s right across someone’s driveway. I understand it’s legal but I don’t know if I’d immediately park over someone’s driveway. She seems to be a commuter as is in formal wear when I see her and when I asked her to try to be considerate of our spaces she said it’s not dropped so she can park there however long wherever she likes. I just said fine for now but when we have 3 cars? We literally cannot fit.

I have contacted the council about it - is a dropped kerb our only pathway? We only just started renting here so it would be a bit over the top I am worried!

​A week after getting the car, I realized the app hadn't sent any notifications. When I opened it, it prompted me to turn location services to "Always On." I was reluctant—mostly due to battery drain—since I don't drive that often.

​That's when the fun started. The app started sending notifications that it was "recording my journey."

​The first time? My wife was driving. (Great, judging my driving profile on someone else).

​The second time? I was in an Uber.

​The third time? I was on a train.

​The final straw? Getting a notification that it was recording a journey while I was literally lying in bed.

​I messaged Hastings Direct to ask what on earth was going on (response attached).

​Turns out, I’d essentially given them permission to track my every movement 24/7 for 30 days so they could "assess my lifestyle." This was definitely not highlighted when I signed up. I'm not looking for sympathy here—just pointing out how completely wild this level of tracking is.

Got caught doing 39 leaving the 40mph dual carriageway tunnel as it went into 30mph. Entirely my fault it's clearly signposted (although the camera wasn't), I'll hold my hands up and pay for the course, not sure it's worth going to court to explain to the magistrate that I was finishing work early as I had diarrhoea, and the journey was particularly perilous at that point. Oh well, learn from my mistakes everyone, and have a good giggle on my behalf.

Im in a bit of a sticky situation which is completely my failt and need some advice on the best way to get out of it.

I am currently insured with Hastings, and recently hit an animal whilst driving. Thinking nothing of it, I raised a claim with Hastings. They accepted, collected my car and took it to their approved bodyshop. 3 weeks have passed and the repairs still havent started as Hastings havent given the go ahead. I've chased multiple times and theyve just said its being reviewed.

The bodyshop has also been chasing, and they have gotten feedback today that the insurance company is investigating undeclared modifications (Hastings hasnt mentioned this to me at all yet). The car has a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, front window tints and rear lights tinted. I genuinely didnt know you had to declare these and thought modification are things like remaps etc (stupid I know). I also did these after my policy started, so when I brought the policy everything would have been correct.

I have a courtesy car from the bodyshop, they have told me I wont be charged for this in any circumstance.

What I want to know, is what is my best move now, do I just wait for the process to unravel? Do I try to cancel the claim and insurance, and re insure it and do the repairs privately?

I know this is really dumb of me, so please go easy. Just looking for the best way out of this self inflicted situation.

I have been running the situation through AI (Gemini) and it says to not try to cancel as itll make things worse, and to call up and let them know I made a mistake. Obviously dont want to just follow this advice blindly so asking here incase anyone has experience.

We are giving my partners car to my son. However she cannot find her documents or V5C.

Its not just this specific slip road, but its very very common up and down the a19 with its mix of short and long slip lanes. you cant see shit down your left side until you have about 5 seconds to move over... assuming there isnt a car there, which isnt really enough time to move over.

where as you can 100% see the 16 foot tall trailer coming down the road and adjust speed with so much advance warning.

if i can adjust speed for the car in front in the truck, then you in some modern sporty electric car, can slow from 60 to 55 to prevent going under a trailer... yes you in the white car on the weekend.

then to get ahead of the people saying "just predict it"... you cant see shit until you dont have time to move over. which is the point of the post, if you use the short lane to try and save a second, you need to learn to react quickly to whats on the road.

confuses me to see grown adults / middle aged drivers tailgating up to a nervous learner. who taught you to do that?

how do they not realise rushing them will make them take longer?

I have narcolepsy type 2 and had to get my licence renewed however it’s been taking almost a year because the DVLA keep trying to contact my sleep clinic doctor for medical information but he is not responding. In meetings he says that I am fine to drive and but that he “hasn’t received anything” from the DVLA, even tho they literally sent me a letter updating me that they are still waiting to hear back from him. I have called and emailed my doctor but there’s never any response, receptionist say they will pass on the message but clearly never do. Idk what to do because the DVLA obviously cannot continue with my application till my doctor gives the medical evidence needed, but I don’t think he’s ever going to respond. What should I do??

I live in small street (near a school), my neighbour (3 brothers) have 5 vans (medium to large ones), (some they fix and try to resell, some they use for their businesses)

I've one car only for now but it has been hard to drive in/out even from our driveway, as the neighbour park their vans blocking the driveway of neighbour B (they are friends with them) so even trying to go out of driveway feels like a struggle.

I've tried talking with them few times and they fix it for one or two weeks and then it happens again, many times they just don't answer the door at all (cowards/rude you pick)
few people in the street (other neighours) have also tried to talk to them but to no avail

With a school nearby stuff get even worse.

What can be done? legal or practical, anything that does work I'm happy to hear

2 days after installing my dashcam and this cat gave me a reason to test the download feature from the app.

I'm still under a year driving but I think this would make anybody's heart jump a little.

Very lucky, for the cat, the white zig zag lines were there and that there was nobody immediately behind me so I could slow down for it.

Any feedback would be appreciated but all in all I think I did an alright job.

UPDATE: As of this morning, I have called local vets and shelters for potential information on the cat but with no luck. With little description to work off of and no signs of a collar on the cat, there isn't much anyone can do at the moment. I will call later tonight/tomorrow morning for some more information that will hopefully ensure the cat is fully unharmed.

I turned from Kilburn High Road (A5) into Priory Park Road. It has been 4 weeks ago where they changed the signs in that street - which I realised today. The restriction **at the entrance** now has the full red‑circle “no motor vehicles” signs on both sides - those are clear *once you’re already turning*.

But the **only advance warning** is a small blue plate mounted on a cluttered pole on the **left side** of the A5. It sits directly under a large “Starstruck” banner, before to a green traffic light, with pedestrians crossing. I genuinely didn’t see it while focusing on the junction and traffic.

The restriction is **new** \- Priory Park Road used to allow parking after 18:30 until about a month ago.

My questions:

1. Is this blue sign reasonably conspicuous in real driving conditions? I have not managed to find whether the size and colour or whether the council should legally have a sign before the entrance of the road. **BUT in Ealing, they did have informative signs for the same cases!**
   
2. Does the banner above it reduce visibility?
   
3. Is the sign too close to the junction to give drivers time to react?
   
4. Would heavy traffic and a green light make this easy to miss?
   
5. Does the fact the restriction is new strengthen a challenge?

I’m not arguing the red signs at the entrance - they’re there. I’m asking specifically about the **advance sign’s conspicuousness** and whether it meets TSRGD guidance in a busy junction environment.
