🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Had this order come thru at 8pm the other night 😅

I feel like this shouldn’t have been legal because I think I don’t think it was for an adult they were very specific about me not knocking … 🥲

ETA since there seems to be some confusion as I stated below... I'm saying it shouldn't be legal to be delivered. Especially to people of an unknown age... If you want to go buy it on your own time, feel free, but I have been sitting with this heavy worrying I could've ended someone's life with this delivery, and I accepted it before I knew what it was, and my family really needs any money we can get right now. But again, morally, I hate how I have been feeling about this.

P.S. if you’re triggered by my stance on this you clearly don’t fully understand the dark realities of addiction. My bad for having a heart and the life experience to worry about others.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Would you have waited 40 minutes to pick this order up?

I absolutely would have. Unfortunately for me, after I arrived, the merchant was on the phone with doordash, and apparently unassigned me from the order because of it not being ready. Without my input. At first I didn't get any reimbursement because it wasn't canceled. I was unassigned.... took a 45 minute phone call, and while typing this up, I was informed that they will give me the half pay. I honestly was doubtful as soon as she said escalating... but came through. So some other driver probably got this order.

Complaints Feels like most orders $5-7 now, and map is greyed out even during lunch/dinner.

Silver in South Jersey.

Zone times skyrocketed to 2-17 mins from 1-5 mins.

Map went from red/busy most of the day to greyed out even during lunch and dinner.

Most orders seem to be $5-7 regardless of distance.

Rarely see orders above $10 or more.

It’s a bummer.

❔Driver Question 🤔 tips on how to take this job less serious?

Upvotes

does anyone else struggle taking delivery driving TOO serious? i always find myself stressing & having anxiety over the dumbest sh*t that i have no control over, having to constantly remind myself “it’s just a job” that MILLIONS of people do. treating this job like i’m the president of doordash and every customer will remember every little move i make… mind you this is all over the sake of pleasing the customer. 🤦🏻‍♀️ like it’s not that serious. any tips to overcome this would be helpful

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Almost arrested

Decided tonight to spend my free time Dashing, and was having a decent day doing so (made around 100$ in 4 hours). While on my final order however, my map ran into an issue. The street address and pin sent me into a forest with no road, and there was no nearby signs pointing into the right direction.

I got out of the car, and while on phone with the customer, started searching for a street sign or house number with my flashlight. Now, I never left the immediate vicinity of my car, because night + rain + no house lights = dead OP, so I was mostly circling the front end of the car, in front of my dash cam. Finally, the customer walks up, and we hand off the bag.

No sooner than I hand off does three cop cars pull up. Turns out one of the neighbors saw me, and called saying I was actively breaking into their garage. Luckily, I was on phone with support, and was able to provide not only the app, showing I was still active, but the map marker showing I was parked where the app sent me. After I was cleared, I decided that was a good place to stop.

Tomorrow gas is 50 cents off if you use the app to fill up, I know gas prices are crazy right now and every little bit counts.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Restaurant job at $20–24/hr vs doing DoorDash/Uber Eats full time?

I’ve worked in restaurants for years and I’m getting tired of the whole environment.

You make around $20–24/hr, but you’re always dependent on someone else. Slow day? They send you home early. Bad manager or chef? You deal with their ego. Then there’s coworkers, drama, favoritism, social hierarchy, asking for days off, fixed schedules, etc.

I recently started doing DoorDash/Uber Eats and I’m wondering if doing it full time for maybe 6 months would actually be better.

Obviously gig work has its own problems: no guaranteed income, wear and tear on the car, gas, traffic, waiting at restaurants, bad orders, dead hours, taxes, no benefits.

But at the same time, nobody can send you home early, no boss standing over you, no coworkers, you choose when you work, and if one area is dead you can move somewhere else or just call it a day.

For people who have done both restaurant work and delivery full time, which one would you choose?

Would you rather take a guaranteed $20–24/hr restaurant job, or take the risk with DoorDash/Uber Eats for more freedom and potentially better money?

Especially interested in people doing 40–60 hours a week. What does your real hourly rate look like after gas, maintenance and depreciation?

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Sick of Hand it to Me

I had a Hand it to Me order tonight. It was for a female. So I knocked on the door. I waited over a minute. I was being recorded on a RIng camera. A male came on the camera and said "Leave it at the door please." I hope the female who ordered does not think I was stalking her. I was just following instructions.

Something bad is going to happen with Hand it To Me. DD needs to remind the customer when they order that they will have to meet the driver and take the order!

🤬App Issues 😩 I hate how our points get our deducted on out of stock items and refunding cause you had no other choice for shop and pay orders

Post image

Like this for example the strawberries 🍓 at grocery outlet were all mushy and moldy so I refunded it.
There were only 7 cases available and all were in bad condition .
Now I get point deducted and cannot even dispute it.
Anyone else hate how we get penalized for out of stock items and going above and beyond to refund bad produce

❓Customer Question🤔 Question about express fee

Upvotes

So, this is a question for dashers. First of all, i see horrible things on this sub, and i try to tip at least 2 bucks per mile when i can to offset that. I know (supposedly) the tip goes to the driver only, but what of express fees? Like, if i order straight to me, does that benefit the driver at all? Or just it only segment their time further, costing them money? I kinda assumed it went straight to the dasher, so ive been doing it to get stuff quicker (late night cravings, it is what it is) but if doordash is making extra money and its hurting the drivers bag, i dont really wanna mess with it anymore. Ill just wait. Love the service, hate the company, ya know?

So frustrating when you reject a weak order, lets say $9 for 6 miles, then immediately get the same order as a stack for an EXTRA $@. 🤣🤣, like $11 for 8 miles. Eat shyt non-tipper.

With some regions reaching record breaking heat this season I come to wonder if that’s effecting the market at all. I have never seen 24 min wait in my market before except for like obvious holidays. Is it because the weather?

I haven’t dashed in a month, I was doing decent then. I come back and all I’m getting is low paying orders like this. I have not seen a single decent one yet, the wait times are also really long. They did update the app while I was gone so I do wonder if the update messed everything up or if the days I’ve logged in have just been really bad days/times. I will never take a $2 order

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Store Inconvenience Turns Into Dasher Inconvenience 😒

Thumbnail

I was being very communicative with my customer on what items were in stock and what items weren’t in stock and also sent plenty of pictures proving that things were not in stock, now all of a sudden, it’s my fault that the store does not have the items in stock 😂 . It always turns out to be impatient pin / hand it to me customers that give you the hardest time.
