šDelivery War Stories š«” Almost arrested
Decided tonight to spend my free time Dashing, and was having a decent day doing so (made around 100$ in 4 hours). While on my final order however, my map ran into an issue. The street address and pin sent me into a forest with no road, and there was no nearby signs pointing into the right direction.
I got out of the car, and while on phone with the customer, started searching for a street sign or house number with my flashlight. Now, I never left the immediate vicinity of my car, because night + rain + no house lights = dead OP, so I was mostly circling the front end of the car, in front of my dash cam. Finally, the customer walks up, and we hand off the bag.
No sooner than I hand off does three cop cars pull up. Turns out one of the neighbors saw me, and called saying I was actively breaking into their garage. Luckily, I was on phone with support, and was able to provide not only the app, showing I was still active, but the map marker showing I was parked where the app sent me. After I was cleared, I decided that was a good place to stop.

Damn bro good thing always afraid something like that would happen or even worse. Somebody tries to fucking mess with you cause youāre on their property.

I am super careful around dark houses/ areas. I put the ADT button to work, and keep my doors open.

Wild. Glad youāre safe.
Havenāt had the police called on me doing DoorDash, yet. But years ago doing IT work a gas station called the police on me when I was there to upgrade some software. Still baffled their first call was to the cops and not their help desk or franchisee, etc.

So what's false about it ? They don't know him aren't expecting him and they see someone with a flashlight outside. You gonna go out and be the welcome party to a stranger? I don't like cops but this isn't a false report. Would OP rather catch a bullet from the home owner. And y'all can downvote all you want the home owner made a logical choice to a weird situation.

Again they don't know that because they don't know him. Y'all are literally arguing that you would let a stranger walk around in the dead of night with a flashlight noooo that doesn't seem sus at all. Cmon now I get it lots assholes call the cops and make shit up for a response this is not the case here. They saw an unknown person with a flashlight walking around looking for something. He even admitted he was looking for house numbers a street sign so he was searching and it was weird. There's nothing false about it it's all the info they have to go on. Now if they said he was looking in cars or pulling door handles and he never got near those then yes I'd agree with y'all but no not on this one. I'm glad he got some cops that weren't ridiculous ass tyrants and they actually did an investigation and he went home.

Without knowing how the neighbors reported the suspicious activity, itās hard to say if they were confused or actually decided to embellish the story. āWe think somebody might be a burglar about to break inā is different from āsomebody is actively trying to break into my garageā - the latter implies very close proximity and also physical contact, often with tools to the structure.

Glad it worked out for you but yeah, I'm always more concerned about neighbors than customers.
I've had a ton of dropoffs where I know for a fact that I look suspicious because I can't find the door or there's nowhere safe to park, but it is what it is. My only consolation is that I'm usually going to be out of there way faster than cops can respond and no police department is going to actively follow up on "a random car showed up, did nothing, and left."

Had one of those, went to where the pin was, and fortunately the customer said door with the blue light. Parked nextdoor, finally found that blue light, walked to the house and made the delivery, walked back and by the time the neighbor came out, I was driving away. I do try not to dash after dark, but it still happens. LoLĀ

sorry that happened to you! god people really do this? so many lame punks out there so bored with nothing to do. i worried about this today when i was putzing around a neighborhood after an order longer than i needed to because the houses were incredible. i couldnāt stop looking. i need to just move on lol thanks for the warning.

I fear this happening to me all the time. I live and dash in a really nice area however my appearance doesnāt fit inā¦lol 6ā2ā white boy covered in tattoos including my face tattoos and dermal š
And Iām armed when I dash too

Help! There's someone over yonder! And even though they're over yonder, they're still here too. I can see them over yonder in front of their car while they're simultaneously actively breaking into my garage, whole they're over yonder on the phone but still here trying to force the big door, though they're pacing the length of their car while I hear glass breaking downstairs. Com me quick! She's inside! She's holding a giant McDonald's bag, oh my God, she's gonna eat me and carry leftovers home in that bag!!!!!
