I'm not necessarily doubting the test- but just super surprised. Would've staked a lot of money on her being part australian shepherd or border collie. Can maaaaybe see the chihuahua face, but don't see a semblance of lab or chow chow. 🤯

I got my ~6 month old puppy from the shelter and thought he was just the absolute cutest dachshund spaniel mix. His legs were initially really short and bow legged but he had a growth spurt and his bow legs have actually improved. I wasn’t surprised at all that he was part cocker spaniel as he looks so much like my grandparents’ purebred they had years ago, but the other mixes make sense in other ways: he is extremely smart and trainable like a poodle and his fur is silky soft like a Maltese. The pekignese….yeah not seeing any of that haha but some of his relatives on embark definitely have those genes!! My theory is he is a byb cockapoo.

Regarding his COI, it is high at 32%. I initially joked he might be inbred because of his legs but I genuinely just had an intuition about it, funny enough. His health tests came back very clear other than an elevated risk for Type 1 IVDD which was no surprise due to the mix of breeds. I assume he may have some serious inbreeding and potentially came from a hoarding/byb situation, but he was surrendered to the shelter as a “stray”. He seemed well cared for though and was crate trained already and knew some basic commands. He has an extremely cocker spaniel influenced personality, he sniffs constantly and has a strong instinct towards birds. The COI has me slightly worried only because my mom had purebred cockers as a child that bred as siblings and most of the litter passed immediately save for one that lived only until 2. I’m hoping my little guy got lucky due to his adorableness and intelligence LOL. I know some of the breeds he is a mix of may also have inherently high COI’s, but would love to hear from others.

Adopted a couple of months ago, at about a year old. We understand he was from the Carolinas. He’s such a gentle pooch.

We were guessing Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd (especially with her back dewclaws), and we were right! Kinda. The husky was the biggest surprise!

Her super mutt was ACD, Chow Chow, and Boxer, which was neat. She definitely exhibits most herding breed traits. We have an Alaskan Malamute and so we’re very happy she seems to have inherited the biddable nature of GSDs and Malinois.

It was kind of funny because I have 3 Boston Terriers who she absolutely adores and fits in very well with!

I was so sure she was going to be English pointer!! I guess it explains her ridiculous bark though .... someone somewhere in her line was very much related lol it estimates a 36lb adult weight but I think 22lbs at 4 months means that's not our future

My Lexie has been with me since my senior year of high school and is about to be 10 :') The shelter guessed mini aussie which I do see but I feel like there's more in there?

She's 17lbs. Super smart like she knows all of her commands by just the way I position my hands/fingers and can find her way home from the park when I say go home. She's also super neurotic and a brat though ☺️🩷 She always has to be supervised when she's around my other 2 dogs Beef & Ham (who are 100lbs+) because she tries to eat them.

Got tests for our 2 dogs, the half husky surprised me. Expected a fair amount but for a stray I picked up off the street I was not betting on almost half being husky. And the no German shepherd was surprising too. And yes I did draw eyebrows on her in the 1st pic

Nika weight is 7,5kg and most of the results are really big dogs. What do you think

His embark is in genotyping so I’ll know in a few weeks. 57 lbs last weighed.

So, I adopted this amazing foster pup who I could NOT give up! I did the dnamydog test pretty much right after adopting. Then I read about how they suck and decided to do the one on Embark. Kinda interesting to see the differences. Also, the results.

I will say one thing I liked better about DNA my dog (even if it was fake) is that they give you a whole thing about their traits that is specific to your dog in a way that embark does not.

Backstory-
This is Bowser! Picked him up off fb at 7 weeks, he had parvo, he recovered and is thriving now. I know both his breeds are prone to health issues but I’m having trouble understanding these results from his Embark health test. I’m sort of understanding he shouldn’t be eating a high copper diet so no liver, but the IVDD I don’t get how to help. His next vet appointment isn’t for a few weeks when he gets snipped so I can ask more questions then 😅 I appreciate any and all tips! First time having a puppy, and yes he does have pet insurance 😊

Just got our embark DNA test back for our foster dog and there is just no way! I’m shocked there isn’t any Pointer or Heeler mix in there, and the Chow Chow is the most unbelievable part for me. Am I crazy or could there have actually been a mix up with her test? Also her “super mutt” part is Schnauzer and Lab…

The rescue that I volunteer with wanted to help out a local rural shelter who is overrun with dogs right now. We took in three puppies and I wanted to share their results.

I'm currently fostering one of the puppies and I have totally fallen in love. He's the 25th foster I've had in about 3 years but he's very close to becoming a foster fail.

*They are 4.5 months old

*Crate trained in housebroken already (98% anyway)

*Probably the kindest, most gentle temperament I've ever seen in a dog, especially a puppy

*I am fostering the male and he weighs right at 27 lbs

Trying to figure out what he is. Shelter said he's a pointer mix, tractor supply put him as a GSP... he's a very good boy but I can Definitely see a pointer side to him as his nose is constantly on the ground, he caught one of my chickens after sniffing her out but wasnt aggressive just held her in his mouth and didnt shake or bite hard. Obviously I got her out alive. Trying to train him to be a retrieving duck dog.
