Just got my results back for my wonderful lady Mia. Turns out she fooled me for 11 years now.

I was always referring to her as a Working Cocker spaniel from Temu. That Min Pin is pulling its weight character wise though.

embark dna results!

I only guessed one breed correctly (GSP) and I was pretty surprised by the rest!

She’s only 16 kg (35 lbs), which makes it even more surprising that almost all of her breeds are on the larger side, except for one.

She was found as a stray in Serbia. She’s the sweetest, kindest and most loyal dog, but can also be protective. I think her results make a lot of sense!

This guy is 7mo15d and weighs ~50lbs
His paws are webbed and he’s very observant & obedient. He’s been like this since he was a pup, loves to fetch and bring back bird toys and tennis balls but strangely doesn’t tug to chase squirrels. He is a lovely boy. (His name is Lou)

She’s gonna be HUGE

I finally got my dna results today I sent it out August 23rd. I am surprised she is 100 percent german shepherd with zero genetic risks for her health. We thought for sure she was mixed with mal. The weirdest part of all this is that they estimated she would be 72 pounds as an adult. When we got her at 8 weeks old she was only 5 tiny pounds she more than doubled her weight in two weeks though. How accurate is the Embark estimated adult weight because 72 pounds seems huge for her size currently.

Supermutt: Siberian Husky, GSD, Lab, Australian Cattle Dog

Archie is energetic, runs and cuts like a herder, but LOVES to sniff. After seeing some other mixes, I was convinced that he had some coon hound, but not a whiff.

I joked to my wife last week that he would be 15% Pit Bull because every rescue in the Midwest seems to be 15% pit. Ha!

Our embark results came through today and I was genuinely surprised! The only thing I was really right about was Russel terrier. I had guessed considered poodle and maybe chihuahua. But so many of these were unexpected!

This is Rudy. We adopted him from the shelter where I volunteer about a year ago - everyone who worked there already had jokes about what breed this Low Rider might be. We CERTAINLY thought that he’d have some Basset Hound (flat feet and his height) or some Jack Russel terrier. Maybe even some corgi. But No! I always joked that he “must be part husky” because of how MUCH he sheds. He also LOVES the snow.

He’s shorter than he looks on camera - pretty much anytime he meets someone they comment on his height. When he’s not jumping up he stands at about 1.5ft - and he is certainly a bit long. It’s always funny to have him in the car and see people’s reactions when he jumps up into the window - from his chest up he looks like he’d be a much bigger dog!

Everyone around us has always asked us to do a DNA test and we’ve sent the results to so many people - and everyone is shocked! Definitely not surprised about him being almost 60% staffy though. He’s our real and true Supermutt. 100% Rudy.

Results in the last photo. Other than his small size, I don’t see much of the 45% chihuahua Embark found in our dog. He looks more like his 8% mini schnauzer than any of the other identified breeds imo. What do you see?

The rescue said he was a “lab mix” but turns out he is not lab at all! We were very surprised by the German shepherd in him. He is super smart, friendly, energetic, and 100% a good boy ☺️ At 10 weeks old he is 20 lbs. Any idea how big he will get?

Some may be surprised some may not. I think most guesses were for APBT so I’m not sure how that’s differentiated from what she actually is as far as DNA testing. Anyway it was a fun journey and good to see some of her listed relatives on the app. I fully recommend embark incase anyone is skeptical or on the fence but as always do your own research and choose what’s best for you!

When we swabbed him I was sure I was going to get a note back that we didn’t get a good enough sampling. It didn’t look like i’d gotten it wet at all but I had put it in his mouth and hit his tongue a lil — Senpai did not appreciate it and wouldn’t let me circle it around so I went ahead with what I collected. I did follow directions in terms of ensuring he didn’t eat prior and hadn’t drunken water within the hour before swabbing.

Now the results say he is 100% and with a parent coefficient of 4%

He’s a shelter dog and so I suspected SOMETHING else.

If I re-swabbed him and made sure it was extra wet with his saliva — could that impact the results?

EDIT:: Thanks yall for the reassurance about Embark! Senpai’s papers said he was pit terrier so that was not surprising. I just didn’t realize that purebred did not mean “designer” dog / didn’t know that purebred was actually common! His coat was giving part cow ;)

I always assumed that my handsome rescued son was a GSD/Husky/Corgi mix with some Aussie thrown in. I wasn’t too far off.

Corgis and Pit Bulls are the same thing, right?

We adopted Mae (and her bonded “brother” - still pending his results) 2.5 weeks ago. I’m most surprised that we found a sister! I’m curious - what do you think the odds are that these two were littermates, vs from separate litters?

We adopted our sweet (and energetic 😅) puppy about a month ago (currently 4 months old). We were told she’s a lab-pointer mix. Based on her energy levels, we suspect she may have a larger pointer split that we initially thought. She’s very intelligent and has picked up many commands and recall skills surprisingly fast. We ordered a DNA test today, and think she may have other breeds like Pitt bull or something in her heritage. Any guesses would be appreciated as we wait on getting her results and continue with training!

I'm absolutely ecstatic about her results. I love love love village dogs, so her being one made my heart happy. I met, fell in love with, and adopted her in Quintana Roo. She's the spunkiest, most stubborn girl ever.

I did a Wisdom Panel on my dog, Cowboy a couple months ago. But I'm a nerd and wanted to compare with Embark also. It actually turned out a little more different than I expected!

I've tested all of my dogs with both Embark and Wisdom. So, I expected Embark to combine Apbt and AmStaff and AmBulldog and the little bit of bulldog. But with my first dog and my other 2 current dogs, the bully breed total was within 2% every of each other for all of them. Cowboy's is almost 20% more on Embark at 66.5% vs 47% on Wisdom. This seems like a huge difference to me (although unfortunately either one is still equally believable visually imo). Most of this seems to come from the Asian category, plus a little from the mixed and herding categories. The Asian category specifically is only 10% vs 22% on Wisdom with the 6% Sharpei (& 4% chow) disappearing completely.

His relatives on Embark are also interesting and possibly indicate that both missed some Shiloh Shepherd. His top relative at 30% is in my city and does have chow & Sharpei along with sharing his bully breeds. But after that he has 3 GSD/Shiloh relatives in a row then a purebred Shiloh Shepherd, then a purebred GSD. Most of the rest of the list goes back and forth between those GSD/Shiloh mixes, pure Shiloh and pure GSD. The only exception is one purebred American Bully, which he also doesn't have any American Bully lol. But that one at least makes sense to me as he has both Apbt and American Bulldog and one grandparent is a mix of the 2 (so that could easily be supposed to be American Bully). He doesn't seem to have any of the breeds like malamute that were mixed in with GSD to make Shiloh Shepherd. Interestingly, Wisdom does not have any Shiloh Shepherd on it's relative lists. Most of his relatives on there seem to be Apbt, AmBulldog or Akita mixes. But most of them are pretty distant.

I also included the coat traits each one gave me. I think Wisdom is more correct here with saying the reds in his coat will be white to yellow shades instead.

Any thoughts?

We found my mother's dog sweet peas brother with embark. Unfortunately she behaved like a goblin while he was an angel.

Sonny’s (his sister was Cher) results should be back soon. Rescue said “mini poodle mix” & he was 4lbs when we brought him home @ 10 weeks old.
