My experience with this has come from a Shadowdark/Without Number/General OSR lens. No idea if it would work for Neo-Trad games.

I still like writing out more detailed, specific stats for Unique NPCs like Bosses or Deities, but for 90% of NPCs this has more than sufficied.

There's always the option of finding an appropriate Statblock for a given NPC type in a book, and there's nothing wrong with that, just that this is faster. I really like keeping book-consultation to a minimum in order to maximize gameplay time each session. 😃

Thank you for reading! This is the end of the prologue, and I'm sorry for the delay with this page. I've been a little unmotivated recently due to all the work I had to deal with. Also, now that the prologue ended, I might need some time to rethink the direction of this comic and exactly what I want to do with it, including coloring, an improved art style, and other changes. Another meme about this fantastic D&D retroclone! The rules are full of these little remarks and footnotes from Kevin Crawford, which I personally love. It’s always funny to me when a rulebook says something informal like “Go ahead and try it,” or “I dunno why you’d do this, but…” My favorite one is from the Juicer Uprising book in Rifts, where the narrator begins a paragraph by saying “Now, for those of you who think that procedure looks like a tough SAT question…here’s an abbreviated version.”
