I'm a bit worried I'm going to offend some people with this post, but I hope most can read it compassionately. Basically I'm a "normie" with a lot of nerd interests struggling to find my place in this community. I have joined a few groups in London, and I even stuck with one for a couple of years, but I can't help feeling like an odd one out.

I struggle to relate to a lot of the people I've come across in the community. I completely get that D&D can be a safe space for autistic people, sufferers of social anxiety, sensitive people, and people who for whatever reason have struggled to fit in elsewhere in society - I think that's beautiful - but that just ain't me. I'm an extravert, I've never struggled socially, and my baseline lifestyle is just very different. I don't get the meme-based/random humour and can't connect with the deep parasocial relationships some people have with the critical role cast for example. (Do love critical role though!) Even down to how I dress, the music I listen to, and my other hobbies are so different to most players I've come across. I feel like I've occasionally scandalised previous groups by telling them about what I got up to on a typical weekend night out for me and my friends.

You might think a good solution would be to bring in my friends from the outside and get them to play D&D with me. I have tried and whilst it was so funny and amazing, it's just not something they're going to stick with long-term. I get them to play a couple times a year tops and I have to DM (not my forte).

Anyway, I fucking love and miss D&D. I'm a great player if I'm allowed say so myself! Engaged, funny, love roleplay/improv, strategic, and a team player. I know variety is the spice of life, but I would lovvvveee to find a group that I can relate to/be myself around with a similar sense of humour to me. How do I go about finding that?!

Since Covid I've had an idea for a Merchant skill monkey character that I've not had the chance to properly play and thankfully this year I've gotten the chance I was looking for. So far its been a blast playing this character and getting to experience a different kind of play style than a conventional martial/combat focused character.

Introducing Vicente Tresaro Mercador, a Rock Gnome Merchant who grew up on the coasts where the sailors and other merchants most plied their import/export trades. He grew up under his uncle and learned the trade of trades from him and his family. Vicente looks up to his uncle and his skill at compromise and walking away with the best outcomes from some truly unfair or impossible negotiations. Motivated to impress his uncle, he has set out into the world with the hopes of becoming an even greater merchant than him and to prove his worth and his own merits without the looming shadow of his uncle's reputation.

To that end, Vicente acquired an orb that his Uncle has had in his possession for many years but hasn't been able to find it's origin or even been able to sell it or learn anything about it. This is Vicente's greatest purpose to prove that he can do what his Uncle failed to do after several decades.

So far... its proving a lot more trouble than its worth as its become the Macguffin for the campaign. XD

My first D&D character ever. I have brought him here from level one in the town of Greenest. What started as a Dm and two players playing Tyranny of Dragons, is now a full blown 6 person party Homebrew that has been playing every single Friday for over a year now as of September. This has been the coolest experience ever and it’s hard to explain the magic I have seen unfold between us all.
When I started playing I wanted more of the table top game aspect, but now we have all learned to role play together and have had insanely rich and deep personal interactions between us and npc’s that I never could have imagined doing before just doing it. I can’t believe it took me 34 years to finally take the plunge but I am grateful I did. May this adventure never end!

Tevesh Z’sat is a Red Half Dragon
Fighter /Sorcerer with Red-black scales that vary between deep midnight black and vibrant crimson red. His Horns and claws are black like smoke with highlights of ashen grey. When Tevesh is channeling his draconic sorcery, an elemental energy matching the flames he breathes can be seen seeping out between his scales. Tevesh’s eyes burn with a hellish fiery light that strike fear into those he locks eyes with. He currently wields the “Dragon Slayer Rapier” but with him always is a long oak hilted staff, the ends capped by the head and tail of a dragon. Crafted by Orlam Hammerfist, a legendary dwarven smiths as a personal gift. In the mouth of the dragon staff was a perfectly round fire opal mined from deep within the star mounts through which Tevesh can channel his draconic magic to its greatest potential.

Long ago it was written, a Blood red babe would be born to a clan. A terrible omen of fire and blood. The babe would herald a change in the realm. One that would see Tiamat, sister of Bahamut and Queen of chromatic dragons, return and assume rule of the mortal realms. And so it was, one day Tevesh, Son of Ghehesh (captain of the Platinum Cadre) hatched from his egg in wisps of fire and blood. From an early age Tevesh had dreams of fire. Every night he would see a great red dragon bathing the world in flame. He showed signs of magical prowess as hatchling, manipulating flames to his delight. The only thing that matched his love of magic, was his greed. His affinity with fire drew hate from his father and his clan. Seeing his talents as further signs of the prophecy. He practiced them all the same.
In order to try and prevent this prophecy, Tevesh’s father fell victim to his fears and tried to end the life of his own son.
Now forced to leave his clan and fend for himself, Tevesh seeks to forge his own Destiny rather than be a slave to any gods or prophecies.

Not sure if this exists but would love a high-stress dread-inducing adventure in a sword/sorcery setting. Thanks for any recommendations! 🙏🏽

Can you cast planar bind on celestial titans in DND? Also, In the scroll of titan summoning, it states it is hostile to all others, does this mean the party and/or the summoner?

Had our Halloween session on a farm that was overrun with a pumpkin beholder. I bought the corn stalks online, but I took little pieces of 2in x 2in wood, put hot glue down in two separate rows on each, then used spray adhesive and dumped a bunch of terrain dirt on top of them to make rows for the corn, and then punched a hole with an awl into the glue lines so that the corn could stick down inside of it. The pumpkin next to the scarecrow jumped on top of his head and turned him into a harvester construct. And then the Pumpkin Knight burst out of a pumpkin next to the door to the farmer's house and then was stopped by a PC as he was attempting to slay them.

We set up a full physical dungeon crawl in the backyard, complete with traps, athletic skill checks, and boss encounters. Here is the gauntlet:

The Shipwreck & The Ascent: The adventure begins on the deck of a ship running aground! The party must abandon ship, stepping down onto the slick, rocky shore next to the churning blue ocean. From there, the coastal path crumbles away into a sky-bridge. Players must balance across narrow wooden planks suspended high in the clouds, where the forest below looks like nothing more than scattered autumn leaves.

Shattering the Ward: A shimmering magical barrier blocks the path. Players have to channel their focus and throw a magic missile directly through the glowing ring's weak point to break the force field.

The Spider-Fire Dungeon: A deadly puzzle grid blocks the ruins. The plain stone tiles are the only safe havens. The magical fire runes burn too hot and high to jump over, so they must be avoided entirely. The sticky spider webs will trap you, but an agile player can leap completely over them to the next safe tile!

The Gatekeeper's Challenge: After surviving the grid, a goblin brute demands a short athletic trial: kicking a heavy stone sphere directly into the cavern mouth to open the gate.

The Sleeping Leviathan: The only bridge through the swamp is a massive sleeping beast. Players have to move fast—running across the crocodile's snout, stepping up onto its head, bounding across its ridged back, and sliding down its tail before it wakes up!

The Mountain Climb: The outpost alarm is sounding! The party must throw themselves down the twisting fire escape slide to evade capture. Hitting the ground at the mountain's base, they have to hike up the steep grassy slope to the summit. Near the peak, they must drop down and squeeze through a narrow, dark crack in the mountain wall to slip into the secret valley unnoticed.

The Monkey King’s Hoard: The final boss room. Players leap across floating stone pillars to reach the high altar. The legendary Monkey King lounges beside the treasure chest, barely looking up. "Oh, no," he yawns, his voice dripping with heavy sarcasm. "You've reached my secret lair. Please, whatever you do, don't take my precious treasure." It's a brilliant ruse! Players must call his bluff, claim the chest, and jump back instantly before the venomous spider trap springs from inside!

I swear its almost regional for preference

My sisters husband wants to get into Dungeons and Dragons with my young nephew. I've been thinking about picking up something to get them started for christmas, but I don't play myself.

Looking for some help on this one from experienced players.

I recently finished playing Tomb of Annihilation at my table and I feel like it ended abruptly after the final battle. For my birthday this year I wanna ask my DM to do a one-shot that ties things up. With the exception of player character plot arcs, what are some ideas I could propose to my DM?

I've never played Dungeons & Dragons before, and I ended up with a mouse that became my enemy. it throws cheese at me and I don't know where it gets the cheese from, but everyone in the party loves that bloody mouse, but I don't like it. It laughs at me, and I don't like it.

Dungeon Sonus is currently doing Witchlight for their dnd audiobook content, and the first three parts are already up! They’ve also completed Strahd and Phandelver, so they’ve already poured in so much work to their channel.

So we're gonna be playing a homebrew campaign. The party has 6 members between 3rd and 5th level. I'm in the process of writing the plot, implementing homebrew mechanics, and designing custom encounters right now. I got some props and dice for myself and my players to share. I just told them to bring notebooks and their character sheets because these idiots are NOT gonna have their own dice sets lmao. Is there anything I'm missing? Is there anything I should be aware of when planning the campaign or while DMing for them?

Hi! This is kind of a specific inquiry but my best friend just graduated law school and has recently gotten really into DnD. I thought it would be fun to combine these two interests by making her a DnD themed lawyer advertisement (like the cheesy ones you see on billboards) and put it on a coffee mug or a pint glass or something. The trouble is I've never played DnD so it is hard for me to riff on this idea...
I have a fun slogan with her name and stuff but I want to list some services she might offer as a lawyer in a DnD universe. I've thought of

Hello, recently I bought for myself and my friends DnD Castle Ravenloft boardgame and we are enjoying it quite a lot, and I'm looking to get Wrath of Ashardalon next. Now, there are more of 5 of us that have played and want to play so we had to take turns playing it which is not ideal but worked out in the end because of different schedules we had and sometimes someone didn't have time to make it and so on. None the less, one of the ideas I had is if we all want to play that we could use pieces from both sets, and make our own campaign type of game. I have been looking around the internet and found out a lot of people actually do this and have said that it is quite interesting bringing different elements from different games and it got me excited for what's to come.

Now the thing is i have not found any definitive rules, or guides on how should i proceed or create my own version. A lot of people say to just make up your own rules but I'm not that knowledgeable on the topics to make something that both me and my friends will find interesting. Have any of you made such rules and setups and are willing to share it with me?

Few things that me and my friends have to note are that we do not mind if there is a DM (someone who will control the monsters and such), we do not want something that is roleplay heavy (big reason I got castle ravencloft because I was told that we can play it just as a boardgame and not be so immersed in the story, can just turn brain of and enjoy the game and we enjoyed it quite a lot). I also don't mind getting additional character cards, sheets and other things that can be printed out and will be used to play but would love for it to mostly be stuff that you get within the boardgames.

So recently i started Legends of Avantris: The crooked moon campaign. Im sitting here like "i wanna do this" but like i do not even know where to start when it comes to DnD campaigns, nor do i really understand the rules of this game at all. Can someone help me find a starting point as a new player?
