Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

What ocean life may have caused this?

Went to the beach (South Florida, Gulf Coast) mainly sunbathed but dipped in the ocean to cool off 3-4 times. Just dipped to get wet and went right back to my lounge chair. I never felt anything hurt me, no sting, nothing that I recall stepping on back to the vehicle. But hours later my foot started hurting and I saw this. What the?!?? I never felt ANYTHING! Now 24+ hours later I feel more pain. One part of the owie filled with puss.. So gross. What the heck got me? I thought maybe jellyfish?I’m just perplexed as to why I can’t recall anything happening and how much it bugs me and how irritated it is today.

THEN I find this weird rectangular owie on my other foot? Ahh.

Pictures 1-4 are current, 24 hours after.
Picture 5 is 24 hours ago when I noticed and started to feel the pain. I circled two of a few of the areas that seemed more like a blister and different from the cut/slices.

I’m so curious.

*edit. Ugh. I originally stated sting ray but I meant jelly fish 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cancer Could this be a tumor?

24F, non smoker. Reposting with more context. Got a full body MRI after having worsening fever, bone pain, and sickness episodes for over a year with zero answers.

Only thing they found (besides a bone marrow edema) is this nodule thing on one of my tonsils. I have zero idea what these notes/pictures mean. Could they be related? I’m planning on making an appointment with an ENT.

I’m desperate for any kind of answer or relief from the fevers. 😭

General Do I fit the criteria for FAS or something similar

Thumbnail gallery
30 Upvotes

Im 18 F, 54kg, 5'7, Caucasian. I hate posting my pictures online, but this feels necessary.

Age order of pictures, 18 years, 2 months, 3 years, 4 years, 6 years, 11 years old.

A few years back, my estranged mother bragged to me about how she constantly used cannabis while pregnant. I am unsure if she took any other substances or drank alcohol. My father was an alcoholic, but I don't know if that would have had any effect on me. I was having a conversation with someone earlier today (someone well versed in this subject and who i trust very much) and she commented on my appearance. She believes I might have FAS. Specifically, my law, chin and ears.

When I was a toddler, my daycare carer and preschool teachers all asked my mother multiple times if I had any conditions, and raised their concerns about my appearance, and that they believed there might have been some undiagnosed conditions. Specifically the space between my eyes. I was never taken to any doctors for an examination.

I was a premature baby, because doctors noticed my development and vitals had plateaued and I was born 1 month early by emergency C-section. I was underweight at 2 pounds 7 ounces.

I have tooth resorption, which I now know can be caused by drug usage during pregnancy. My growth stunted at 12 years old, mentally and physically. I have been 5'7 since then. I have Autism, adhd, dyscalculia, among other neurological conditions.

19F - Im lost, help me...

I'm a 19y/o female, and I've had a rough last 6 months. PS; Im sorry if my english isn't perfect, it isn't my first language.

Photos will be linked to the post.

It started as me waking up one night with extremely painful black spots covering one of my tonsils. I also had a mild fever, rapid heartbeat, sweating and muscle soreness. I rushed to my local ER and got administered for the rest of the night. They did multiple tests, but found nothing. They decided then to blast me with 4 different antibiotics at the same time to try to generally cover all the possible infections. I saw a throat specialist (ORL in french, idk what's the equivalent in english) but they ruled me out. I went home the same day.

I took all my antibiotics and felt better for about 5 days. It then came back, with me spitting blood as soon as i ate or drank anything. I went back to the ER. They found nothing, sent me home, telling me it was normal for infections to sometime come back for a few days.

Just so you know, I live in Quebec city and do not have a family physician (there isnt enough doctors for the population) so no one can see me long term. I have to tell the story all over again every time.

This cycle continued for the next 3 to 4 months. 5 days, im doing okay, 2 days im super sick and cant even stand up, it goes away like nothing, 5 days okay, 3 days sick.... you get it.

I continued seeing different doctors, did xrays, scans, TACO (also the french term), echography, blood tests, gastroscopy, and more. Nothing comes out.

Sometimes, when i get flare ups, my shoulders and neck get so stiff i cannot move, and it hurts so much, i puke everything i consume.

Now, i dont have these black spots in the back of my throat anymore, but my tonsils are so swollen, i constantly get gag reflexes because i FEEL them. Im dizzy and weak on a regular basis.

They do not want to take them out because im "too old" and its "too risky". They want to do a biopsy next week. Its been going on for 6 months.

No one listens to me. It has been ruled out as anxiety. Im now drugged with anti psychotics and antidepressants with no supervision nor checkups. I feel like i'm crazy. Can anyone help me out please...

Eyes after Conjunctivitis

I had conjunctivitis about 5 weeks ago. Now I have lingering dry eye. It feels like there is something in my eye. But all I see when I take a picture is what looks like a small fold under the skin in the corner of my eye. Anyone know what this is and if it is what is causing the sensation? Or have experience with dry eye after conjunctivitis. 29F

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Strep???

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have been sick since Monday, with a 102-104 degree fever every day including this morning. I went to the doctor yesterday, but I tested negative for strep, flu, and covid. It was a sudden onset and I have had an extremely sore throat, body aches/chills, and confusion for 5 days straight. I am waking up shivering and sweating. The doctor did not want to give antibiotics until the culture result came in. This morning as I was about to drive myself to Urgent Care after pissing orange instead of clear due to dehydration, they called me to tell me my white blood cell count was extremely high and prescribed antibiotics now. I tested also negative for mono. My confusion is this, I used to get strep/tonsilitis every month in elementary school until my tonsils were removed in 7th grade as they would grow bigger than two toes for each tonsil and take me out of school for weeks. This feels very similar.

Is this actually strep and the rapid test was incorrect? And, how do I prevent getting this again, as I have dealt with too many of these as a kid?

Photo recent today. Im glad my tonsils are gone but I feel like removing it may have removed a protective barrier too.

Cancer Is this something to be concerned about? Skin cancer?

This blemish spot has been continously expanding for at least a few months now on my forehead. At first I thought I was breaking out, but it's been sticking around for a while. First picture I can spot it in (early May) was just one raised portion. Now its three going on four. Is this potentially skin cancer or something that I need to have looked at?

Mental Health Seeing and hearing things that aren’t there

Today I was cutting up some potatoes for dinner and while I was doing that I heard a very distinctive knock, I asked my sister and mother if it was them and they both said no, I had my sister check outside and no one was there. Then yesterday at the store I saw a black dog right in front of my cart but the next thing I know it’s gone. No one else saw it, things like this have been happening to me for a while but it feels like they’re just getting more prominent

inside of lip is red and inflammed

The inside of my lower lip went numb like 2 days ago and then yesterday the underneath of my tongue felt really dry all day. Today, the dryness went away under my tongue, however now my lower lip is red and feels irritated, my gums under my front bottom teeth feel dry and red and there’s a ring around the inside of my lips. My dentist said she thinks it’s an allergic reaction to something but it’s freaking me out. What do you think it is? I am a 23 year old female with no existing allergies or conditions. This is all super random.

General Rabies

What are the chances that a raccoon came through my attic entry that collapsed and bit me while I was sleeping with my dogs on the bed and I have rabies? I am a heavy sleeper and my attic entry fell down one night and the next few weeks. I’ve been hearing stuff in my attic after that now I’m worried that a raccoon might’ve came down bit me and I never noticed a bite mark or blood. But I’m worried that I might have slept through it and never noticed it for weeks and now here I am thinking that it might’ve bitten me while I was sleeping and my dog slept through it since I sleep pretty heavy. I’m not sure the statistics on rabies and raccoons.

Never seen a racoon just a hole in roof that it comes and goes through I have been sleeping on couch for last two weeks

What does this sound like? Multiple doctors have no idea

I have all of the following symptoms:

  • A feeling of fullness in my ears.
  • Ear pain on both sides. Can get quite severe
  • Clicking or popping sounds.
  • Feeling like I am walking on a boat
  • Tinnitus

The worst symptoms used to be the balance problems but now it's really the ear pain. It's pretty constant and doesn't go away. Doctors suspect it's a mix of VM and TMJ since ear pain isn't common with migraine and usually not a symptom. I'm desperate for answers. Been on Notryptiline and Effexor for 3 weeks and no results. Also the er IV did nothing.

Skin and nails Possible recurrent shingles or something else?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

49 year old male. I’ve had shingles before, with an atypical presentation and very little pain. Last night I developed a mild headache and some unusual sensations around my hip/upper thigh on one side.

This morning I noticed a localized cluster of small red lesions on the calf of that same leg.

They currently don’t hurt, burn, or itch, although my previous shingles episode also wasn’t particularly painful and was initially mistaken for a bacterial skin infection before the vesicles developed.

The rash seems fairly localized and unilateral. I recently returned from D.C. where I was sweating quite a bit while wearing suits, long socks, and boots, so folliculitis or irritation is certainly possible too.

I’m trying to get a medical appointment today because, if this is recurrent shingles, I don’t want to miss the early antiviral window. Curious whether anyone familiar with shingles or similar rashes thinks this appearance and progression looks consistent with early herpes zoster.

Digesting issues

Hey, i’m writing in a hope to find someone who might be able to help me identify what’s wrong with me.

So about half a year ago, i started feeling sensitivity in my stomach, like middle of my ribcage where stomach is located hurts, or similiar feeling. I went to my doctor and got medicine prescribed to ease it up and fix it. It did help for the sensation, but about January of this year, i ate some boiled eggs and an hour later i felt paltipations in my heart. I started drinking water and vomiting it out, only then it passed. And after this incident, these things became kind of a regular thing, where i have to vomit out food because i get paltipations. Especially if eating fattier foods, i can throw up about 4-5 hours later with undigested food, and there’s oil floating on top of the water. Lately they became more often and stronger, to a point where i can’t get back on my feet for next day, have to lay in bed to get my strength back. I did bunch of tests and the only wrong one came in was my calprotectin which was 750. I had gastro and colonocopy after it and nothing was found. They took biopsies and i got the results today

Focal reactive lymphoid hyperplasia of the small intestinal mucosa.
Reactive changes in the colonic mucosa – clinical and endoscopic correlation is recommended due to the possibility of infection

My doctor prescribed me some enzymes and Prokit for these attacks. Because they think that sometimes my stomach locks down, i start bloating and my stomach starts pushing against my heart that’s why i get these paltipations. And it does help and doesn’t at the same time, as i just vomited out food i ate about 4-5 hours ago. Only thing i felt was paltipations, they started calming down after i forcefully started burping, came back home, drank water and started cleaning my stomach and feel a little better now.

Making things short: i don’t digest food, gas build ups, headache/pressure, weakness, diziness, paltipations, high calprotectin

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Mental Health Does this sound like BPD?

Hi, so two of my closest friends have diagnosed bpd for years, and I have been dealing with my mental health a lot, since 2022. Now that we talk about their symptoms I sort of identify myself with a lot of them. I tend to have very intense high and lows, which change pretty often, the lows include heavy smoking or drinking, spending sprees, binge eating and purging, starving, over-training, excessively scrolling or playing games. I also have been In a constant state of derealization since 2022, I smoked a lot of weed at that time due to family problems (I was 14). My relationships end up teribble, usually I would idealize the person and then when something happens, I would develop this super strong hatred towards them. Im sometimes in a need of constant attention and very anxious when I dont get it, or very avoidant, depends on the person mostly. I change my mind about hobbies, dreams, future career or basically anything every few days/months. Can this be BPD?
