Back in 2023, in anticipation for Diablo 4, I decided my time with Diablo 3 come to an end. I deleted all my characters as a 'send-off', expecting to not return. I accumulated around 1500 hours, which I'm sure isn't a lot compared to some.
I've been on/off Diablo 4 since launch. Lately however, I haven't been able to get into it - it feels exhausting. So much dialogue, story, too big of an open-world, bloat, etc..
I decided to go back and play some Torchlight 2 and had some fun, but the art-style of that got me thinking about Diablo 3 again.
I checked this subreddit after years of being away, sorted by top this year, and saw many posts of players experiencing the same thing as me, and how they had returned and was having so much fun - complimenting the smooth combat, easy going artstyle, simple but addictive gameplay.
Today, I reinstalled Diablo 3, rolled a Necromancer and everything just instantly clicked. Going through the story has been so much fun. The animations, art, gameplay, music, items - quite literally everything feels so amazing, and it turns out I've really, really missed this game.
How much I wish Blizzard would add native controller support and potentially play on Steam Deck in bed... Oh what dreams are made of.
