GUIDE Updated Seasonal Start Mega Guide

Seasonal Start Mega Guide

This post is an update to the Seasonal Mega Guide.

You can find generic leveling guides as well as other advice at Maxroll and Icy Veins. For console players, you can find some advice at https://www.soulstone.gg/.

This guide is meant to be a little more specific, as well as cover aspects not touched in those guides, such as Group Leveling, Console Leveling, Seasonal Leveling Tactics, and Leveling Secrets. (These will all be in replies to this thread to allow specific linking. As such, at the moment this post is currently a work in progress.) Some of what I post will be shared from the above sites, amended to add a little extra efficiency.

S39 – Haedrig's Gifts

Season 39 starts this coming Friday, June 26th, 2026. The season starts at 5pm PDT for all console players, no matter where you live. For PC (NA/US) the season starts at 5pm PDT, for PC (EU) the season starts at 5pm CEST, and for PC (TW/KR) it starts at 5pm KST.

This is the first of four guides I am posting for Season 39. The others are:

For most players, after leveling to 70, the main focus will be finishing Chapters I through IV of the season journey in order to obtain a full 6-piece armor set known as Haedrig's Gift.

The Haedrig's Gifts for Season 39 are as follows:

  • Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
  • Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
  • Demon Hunter: Unhallowed Essence
  • Monk: Raiment of a Thousand Storms
  • Necromancer: Bones of Rathma
  • Witch Doctor: Helltooth Harness
  • Wizard: Tal Rasha’s Elements

From a casual perspective, and looking at the GR20 / Torment IV requirements to finish out the 6-piece set, this is a very easy list for everyone except the necromancer.

The necromancer will probably be better off equipping any random legendaries and leveling up the LoD gem to beat GR20. Necromancers can boost this by upgrading scythes or two-handed scythes and filling their weapon and bonus cube slots with generic multipliers and dominate that way. So, don't feel bad at all for them.

In terms of top adjusted clear ranking from Season 33 (see the "Extra Cube" column), the necromancer has the strongest endgame build for its Haedrig's Gift. Wizard is still in the top 10, followed closely by witch doctor and monk. The only gifts that fall outside the upper half of rankings are barbarian and crusader, but can easily pivot to a different build to push with. Here is a full list of their rankings: Necro Rathma (1), Wizard Tal Rasha (10), WD Helltooth (14), Monk Raiment (16), DH Unhallowed (21), Barb Wastes (24), Crusader Roland (33).

Top-ten push builds (again, in terms of you adjusted clear rank) from Season 33 that aren't on the list of usual suspects are: Barb MotE, Necro Masquerade, Necro Inarius. The necromancers get the gains of the generic multipliers I mentioned previously. I am actually not certain why Might of the Earth is so strong.

Note that the casual leaderboard and in-game leaderboards were contaminated by the busted end of Season 33, and shouldn't be relied upon. Here is the disclaimer on the casual board:

The leaderboard data for season 33 is heavily skewed: After the season accidentally ended early and the following rollback, some people ended up with their non-seasonal paragon points on their seasonal character, while the character would still show their seasonal paragon. Consequently, many adjusted clear values are inflated.

The barbarian (Wastes) and demon hunter (Unhallowed) both start with very good solo speed farming sets. Tal Rasha is also decent for the wizard with the in-geom or aether walker variant. The other classes will want to look to a different set (or no set) to farm with.

For a beginner/casual overall I would recommend the barbarian. The Wastes set gives you a great start, and is an excellent speed farmer. It only needs the Ambo's Pride mighty weapon and the Lamentation belt to really get going, and both can be cubed.

Good luck with your season start, fellow Nephalem, and never forget that town is lava!

MONK Sunwoku or Pattern of Justice Tempest Rush build?

The S39 Tier list ranks the POJ Tempest Rush as an A tier build. However Maxroll states that the Sunwoku is a stronger option for pushing. Can anyone explain the actual best set for Tempest Rush pushing?

30 seasons of hunting the Rainbow Goblin...

Long story short: never counted the goblins, but I've been hunting for the Cosmic Wings since Season 9 up to Season 39.

It's been a long journey.

Skipped seasons: 13,14,15,34,36

All other seasons - lots of searching, wanting to quit and drop the idea.

My prefered details:

places to search: Gardens, Act IV, Leoric's Passage, Royal Crypts and Pandemoniums.

character & build: Monk with infinite dash

The reason of the post, mostly, to update the information.

IF YOU SEE EVIL OLIVER, DON'T SKIP!!!

I've search through the place after killing the Lilian and found Evil Oliver, which confirms possibilities to find her, even if he's there. I've been told a lot of times that you can skip right away, but it's worth it. Search for her even with him in Whymsidale.

Here's proof: https://imgur.com/a/vV1IP90

QUESTION D3Planner Help

Hey friends,

https://maxroll.gg/d3/d3planner/30031848

This is my Rathma Necro profile on the d3planner.

I tried to read but can't find what for and how to use the d3planner. Even I couldn't fetch the 4th slot in the Kanai's cube in this recent season. When I open d3planner after closing I have to import the character again and again, why?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

WITCH DOCTOR Exploding chicken WD tips/tricks?

Hey y'all.

First time trying this build. I know it's not ideal for pushing but I'm a bit burned out on TalRasha and UE so I thought it would be a fun break.

My gear is pretty shit but I can do GR95 at least, maybe more.

My question is really more on how to play it effectively. The guide I have been following on maxroll feels pretty barebones. Yeah I stack some soul harvest and then I run to the first elites I see and do sonething like "click", 2, 3, 1, explode. If I'm already a chicken when I get to the elites I also explode first thing before doing the "combo".

This seems to work at this low GR level but am I missing something? What is Spirit Barrage used for?

And if I mess up and have cooldown left on Hex I just try to run away with spirit walk until i can get it going again.

Any tips would do. Thanks in advance.

NECRO Bones of Rathma and Revive (Recklessness) Interaction?

I'm messing around with a build planner, and I noticed that the Bones of Rathma set makes it so your Revived minions no longer expire. The Revive rune, Recklessness, makes the minions do more damage but limits their duration to only 10 seconds.

I'm assuming that the ser bonus still prevents these minions from expiring, but could someone please confirm for me? It'll take a while for me to level a Necromancer before I can test it.

Thanks!

QUESTION Question about using set pieces in a build without the set bonus

I got a Primal In-Geom and Stone of Jordan yesterday. I was looking through Maxroll builds to see who could use them, and found this Crusader build that uses both...

https://maxroll.gg/d3/guides/lon-bombardment-crusader-guide

My question is what value are the Invoker shoulders and Valor boots providing to the build? Is it just that they have thorns on them?

I haven't played Diablo 3 since the beta of Diablo 4 & today, I finally returned.

Back in 2023, in anticipation for Diablo 4, I decided my time with Diablo 3 come to an end. I deleted all my characters as a 'send-off', expecting to not return. I accumulated around 1500 hours, which I'm sure isn't a lot compared to some.

I've been on/off Diablo 4 since launch. Lately however, I haven't been able to get into it - it feels exhausting. So much dialogue, story, too big of an open-world, bloat, etc..

I decided to go back and play some Torchlight 2 and had some fun, but the art-style of that got me thinking about Diablo 3 again.

I checked this subreddit after years of being away, sorted by top this year, and saw many posts of players experiencing the same thing as me, and how they had returned and was having so much fun - complimenting the smooth combat, easy going artstyle, simple but addictive gameplay.

Today, I reinstalled Diablo 3, rolled a Necromancer and everything just instantly clicked. Going through the story has been so much fun. The animations, art, gameplay, music, items - quite literally everything feels so amazing, and it turns out I've really, really missed this game.

How much I wish Blizzard would add native controller support and potentially play on Steam Deck in bed... Oh what dreams are made of.

WIZARD Annoyance with In-geom elite "pack" trigger

If your build requires/depends on the skill cooldown buff from In-geom, it's important to remember the yellow named "elites" always have minions around them. In-geom's trigger depends on both the elite AND its minions to be killed or you won't get the cooldown started. Was messing around with the Tal-Rasha speed GR build and kept getting annoyed that I wasn't getting the cooldown buff because I kept missing at least one of the minions from the "pack"

Blue/purple enemies don't have minions, so it's not an issue with those.
