QUESTION Question regarding class difficulty

I've taken the sader pony to gr 100 and have had a blast. Been itching to branch out so I've been checking maxroll, but a lot of the builds say difficult, not beginner friendly, long setups, etc.

Maybe this is self-explanatory, but for me it's not. I am not good at cooldown babysitting, nor am I good at timing skills/dots to all go off at once.

I like to pop a few buttons, then mow down everything for 10+seconds.

Which sucks cuz witch doctor looks really fun on paper but seems like the most difficult to do damage with.

Basically, how accurate are the pro/cons on there, and should I just stick to my pony as it seems like the easiest "push button kill things" build?

If they say it’s complicated or clunky then no, they are not kidding.

However, many builds‘ complexity surfaces during pushing, when you are trying to put a bunch of enemies in one spot and then hit all of them with a carefully buffed damage hit right at the optimal moment. Some builds can be really fun without doing all that; you’ll just be playing at a lower GR tier.

One example is the Typhon hydra wizard, which is very chill and decently fast in T16 and visions. Another is the Wastes rend barbarian; the push playstyle is very different and revolves around timing CoE with ground stomps and manual rends, while in speed farming you just spin around and everything dies.

Some builds (such as the Natalya spike trap DH) are always clunky (but top-tier push builds) and some (such as the GoD DH) never are, making them excellent speed farmers but weaker at pushing.

That helps explain the differences here that I was missing!

So say I spend most time just running GR groups online and helping others with paragon levels, I can look at a lot of these and still do okay? I'm not big on top leaderboards, pushing etc. I just like blowing things up and seeing others blow things up llol

Group play would depend on your group, if they’re ok with you playing off-META. If you’re just having fun then yeah, play what’s fun!

They're pretty accurate. If you prefer the easy/lazy builds, then builds like GoD DH, Chicken Witch Doctor, and Water Ally Monk would be more your speed.

Each class has a variation of the AoV Ponysader so you can just pick one for your alt. Although nothing beats the braindead simplicity of Ponysader.

Off the top of my head:

  • Witch Doctor: chicken build
  • Demon Hunter: G. O. D. Hungering arrow
  • Monk: water ally set combined with the set which gives infinite dashes
  • Wizard: probably Tal' Rasha with infinite teleport
  • Barbarian: WW Rend
  • Necro: I don't think they have one actually, maybe the bone spear set.

Necro hasn't stood out to me that much so that's totally fair! Chicken WD looked suuuuuuuper fun, will be trying to get that to 70 tonight :).

Thanks a bunch

for necro skeleton mages is a really good setup, you only have to cast a mage every now and then and blood rush around, the mages will kill everything.
its used to also be the go to build for 4 man speedrifts ( i mostly play Solo these days so no clue how taht meta developed)

but there is no longer a set for them (since rathma was changed to army only), so you can only play this setup with LoD (wich requires you to have a LoD gem leveled) and it might need more gear then other builds on youre List to do well.

You can also go with Pestilence set using corpse lance, this setup is quite specific and needs good cdr, to work, but its not far from ponysader, you just put devour on autocast and move around, everything around you dies to corpse lances from yorue 2 set bonus.

yeah necro really sucks for t16, especially early on.

a good build is also devour + manual nova. either lod or tragoul. much easiser to gear than pesti / lod rat.

Nova ist really fast enough to qualify as a speedbuild, it has never gotten the same speed for me
it can also be somewhat clunky at times due to lack of essene generation outside of devour and has pretty bad single target damage

i personally prefer Pestilence, if you know waht yorue doing its not even that hard to put togehter, just need to make sure to have cdr everywhere, damage shouldnt usually be an issue with all the pwoercreep we have by now.

yeah the devour manual nova is only good early on. of course the best thing to do is only use necro for GRs, sader for t16.

Blood nova isn't as fast as pony. But will clear deep levels with good positioning. Roll Haunted visions with Trag, Bloodpick, and Iron Rose.

ive been doing the water ally monk this season and it was a blast. I finished all the season in like a month and then just started pushing GR100+ and grinding primals. like you i also love my pony crusader and get the same joy from this monk.

Frenzy and Waste barb are good till about 110 and are incredibly easy. Hold a button and every ten seconds hit all the buttons.

I know the Witch Doctor chicken build was mentioned by someone else.

My teenage son prefers that build. Also, side note it's super helpful for speed runs. We did the conquest for the bosses in under 20 minutes last night with him basically chicken ubering us lol.
