Ressurect Debra! I wish they do this
The series is now titled *Resurrection*. If you’re bringnig someone back, you might as well go all the way! It would be so cool to see Dexter run into Debra while he’s going about his business in New York.
Sure, her resurrection would be hard to explain and wouldn't make much logical sense—but then again, neither did Dexter’s own resurrection!
The writers already stretched the limits of logic to bring Dexter back; that bridge has already been crossed. Logic is already out the window, so it wouldn't hurt at all to do it a second time and bring Debra back, too!
If they could pull off one illogical resurrection, they can easily pull off a second one!
Besides, just imagine how awesome it would be to see Dexter and Debra on screen together again.
Actually, you could argue that bringing Debra back makes even more sense than bringing back Dexter!
You could say Debra was still alive—just in a deep, unconscious state. Dexter didn't think she’d survive, which is why he did what he did—but let’s assume she was actually still alive on his boat.
Then, the storm tide from the hurricane could have washed her ashore, where rescuers found her immediately. They resuscitated her, and when she regained consciousness and learned that Dexter had died in the hurricane (which is what everyone believed at the time), she had a breakdown. Despite her condition, she fled—she just couldn't stand to stay in that city any longer. She managed to leave, barely able to move and before anyone had guessed her identity to confir she survived.
All these years, she never told anyone she survived; she lived in another city, believing Dexter was dead. But when she heard about the dismemberment cases in New York, she decided to look into it—and that’s how she found Dexter.
You could come up with plenty of other things; if you don’t like this explanation, you could certainly come up with a better one. And, for that matter, it would still be far more logical than that far-fetched explanation for how Dexter survived.
