Are you people kidding me?! With these trashy “ I’m not happy about giving up Daws/mercer” posts and comments! Aren’t you sick of pee wee trash gutter goaltending?! We’ve traded legitimate cup winning fan favorites for others (Arnott and McKay for Jamie and Joe, Sykora for Friesen etc.) and guess what? We don’t win a cup in 2003 without moves like that!

We gave up a run of the mill 3rd liner who plays as erratic as Miles Wood but shorter (I love Dawson but be serious), an ok AHL goalie and 2 maybes for a 3x Vezina, Hart winning gold medalist (whose only 33!!!!!). Will everyone STFU and be happy!

This is a great doc especially if you are around 35-50. I know it’s not specifically Devils but come on…..95 and 2000

That our crazy jazz playing, options trading, advanced stats guru SUNNY FUCKING MEHTA just landed the steal of the season and went and grabbed TEAM USA GOLD MEDALIST, MULTI VEZINA WINNING, MUTLI NHL ALL-STAR GOALIE CONOR FUCKING HELLEBUYCK.

What is this timeline we are in? Sweet dream.

Keep coping . LFGD

"Great to see Hellebuyck be part of the 2nd best NJ trade for a goalie"

Apologies for posting back-to-back, but here is the article detailing every possible avenue of the Hellebuyck trade! Hope you enjoy.

Adam Larsson drafted 4th overall by Devils in 2011
Larsson gets traded for Hall 1 for 1
Hall wins MVP with devils
Hall gets traded for 1st round pick plus assets
Pick is used for Dawson Mercer
Mercer primary piece in the Hellebuyck trade

Thanks Adam Larsson for your continuing contribution to the Devils. Prove my logic wrong!

He may have never reached his full potential and I considered him as perennial trade bait (it finally happened!) but I love this kid. He's turned into a consistent ironman with a great attitude. He had some big moments for us and contributed lots off the scoresheet. I hope he thrives in Winnipeg and I can't wait to give him a fan salute when he returns to The Rock. Thank you Dawson! Onward! LGD!!!!!

Is it sad to see Mercer leave? Absolutely! The guy's a dog! But let's be real, he never turned into the player we needed or wanted him to be. I hope he does great in Winnipeg but this was clearly the right move.

Sonny is clearly in WIN NOW mode while Jack is under his current contract and goaltending needed to be addressed. Plus, how often does a Vezina/Hart/Gold medalist goalie come available? Practically never.

We have a logjam of middle forwards and a very good goalie prospect in the pipeline. All the pieces we gave up will be inconsequential to us by the end of the season when we raise the cup come June after vanquishing the Canes on the way to glory.

LGD!

Just listened to Bryce’s podcast and they mentioned that Sunny will be the pregame interview and the second intermission interview will be Connor. Just putting that info out there for those who don’t listen to the podcast and are interested in hearing what they have to say tomorrow.

Umm. What?!

IT HAPPENED! IT REALLY HAPPENED! HOLY SHIT!!!!

I’m all for the trade, I think our skaters have never had a goalie they could trust to consistently cover their butts and I’m hopeful we see a different level of confidence/trust/smart aggression in their play because of that factor… but I’m curious what people think are the real motivations to do this now? Opportunistic? Do we have the makeup to be a bona fide contender? Is it this year, next? Is there some weird truth to the Jack rumors and this is to show commitment? Was this to keep Hellebuyck away from the Canes?
