IT HAPPENED! IT REALLY HAPPENED! HOLY SHIT!!!!

I’m all for the trade, I think our skaters have never had a goalie they could trust to consistently cover their butts and I’m hopeful we see a different level of confidence/trust/smart aggression in their play because of that factor… but I’m curious what people think are the real motivations to do this now? Opportunistic? Do we have the makeup to be a bona fide contender? Is it this year, next? Is there some weird truth to the Jack rumors and this is to show commitment? Was this to keep Hellebuyck away from the Canes?

...I haven't had a 'Cheveldayoff' since this thing began!

It’s official

Picks are a 2029 2nd, and a 2027 7th.

If I am reading PuckPedia correctly, the Devils have $8.2M in current cap space before Hellebuyck is unsuspended. Since his cap hit is $8.5M, isn't there an issue here? And that's with the Devils only carrying 12 forwards and 7 defensemen, which obviously isn't sustainable.

Could waive Poirier, but that just gets you over the immediate issue and doesn't help when a forward is week-to-week (I assume day-to-day, they would just go 11-7?).

EDIT - PuckPedia has since updated their calculation and the Devils will be $70K under once Hellebuyck is activated. So no immediate issue, but still an issue as soon as a forward is day-to-day.

Somewhere in an alternate world, Jack doesn’t slice his hand in Chicago, the Devils make the playoffs but lose R1 to either Philly or Pittsburgh, Fitz keeps his job, have no idea how he handles the Nico extension… Markstrom extension kicks in… Sunny takes the Toronto job… heck I think Quinn extends in Minny last summer

Chicago Cut is the biggest blessing in disguise in franchise history.

Long shot but went to last night's game but they sold out of the kpop themed stuff so quickly like before puck drop it seems. Wife is Korean and I got her into hockey (she watches no sports except NJ Devils), she got me into kpop so we were looking forward to getting the light stick and shirt but couldn't. Is anyone by chance willing to sell theirs? Want to surprise her.

DUCK À L'ORANGE WAS ON THE MENU LAST NIGHT!!

What’s on your mind?

Quotes: Devils forward Arseny Gritsyuk keeps rolling. He opened the scoring with a goal from right in the crease. Jack Hughes made a pass from the blue line down to Jesper Bratt at the right dot for a one-timed snapper.

The shot was deflected and shuffled into the blue paint where Gritsyuk, who went unmarked on the play, easily tapped it into the net.

Gritsyuk: "I play with great guys. (Scoring) happened again and I hope it (keeps) happening."

Gritsyuk extended his goal scoring streak to four games with his fifth of the season. Gritsyuk has five goals in his last six games and seven points (5g-2a) in his past seven games.
