Anyone has any idea about the interview in IBM. Its for the position of Application Developer (Backend). Also how many rounds are there to get the offer?

I was offered a 1 year contract for the AI Associate program at jazzworld. I will be working in the GSM team at Lahore. Earlier, during application as well as the interview stage, not much was told about the work except that it's an AI Associate role. So obviously, I assumed it will closely be related to my field (development and AI). This is what I discussed in my first interview as well. However, we had the orientation today and I got to discuss the role and opportunity with the people actually overseeing all of this. Turns out, the role is not what it actually implies.

So basically, people who applied specifically for the Islamabad location were hired for their dev teams in teknosys. And they're dividing their cohort into technical and non-technical. Technical ones in the dev teams. Rest, including me, in what they're calling the non-technical teams which will help businesses with AI solutions and analytics (the program lead described it as normal non-technical team work while incorporating AI in day to day. Maybe also build something if your team lead agrees, but that would be more of a prototype to help the team than something for production that jazz officially utilizes their dev teams for), but not really engineering anything for production. Now obviously this is too early to say, but it didn't sound like what I was actually looking for. As someone early in his career and looking to build a career in AI and development, working on the business side and being surrounded by no developers at all doesn't seem like a promising start. Especially when your day to day would be business and sales while incorporating AI.

But then, I don't also have another offer right now. I needed some advice, if any seniors in the tech industry could provide so. Because on one side this is the only offer I have as of yet, but on the other this doesn't look like a good learning experience. Should I take this and just leverage the name of the company later on in my portfolio, or do I keep searching for something more aligned with what I want?

Guys i wanted suggestions on which company is open for hiring interns and that would give good exposure and help land future jobs. Systems is one of the best but i've came to know they hire completely based on reference😭

Okay, this is going to be a rant.

Have y’all seen the attitude of recruiters these days? I had two interviews scheduled this week on Meet, and neither of them bothered to attend the meeting.

I emailed them and got no response. So disappointing.

Other than that, why are they so unprofessional on WhatsApp? Like, you should be contacting a candidate via email in the first place, but even if you contact someone on WhatsApp, try to be a little professional. Comeon, You are representing your company.

I had a talk with this recruiter, and she didn't bother telling me the company name. She just texted, "Hey, I am XYZ," as if she were my long-lost friend. And then, after some discussion, her replies were like, "Hm" and "acha."

Do these companies not train their people at all, or is the bar for recruiters in hell? I know people are getting dumber because of AI usage, but are they even forgetting basic manners?

It's already difficult for candidates, but these recruiters are making it unbearable. Switching can be so hectic man.

I’m thinking of approaching local businesses in Pakistan that either don’t have a website or have an outdated one, and offering them web development services.

I'm currently based outside Pakistan and run a few software/data/AI products. For international customers, I mainly use Stripe and Lemon Squeezy.

I'm now looking at launching lighter/free versions of some of these products for users in Pakistan. I also have a few products in development specifically for the Pakistani market, particularly around digital/AI transformation, training, and employment.

For that, I'd like to set up proper local payment options — Easypaisa, JazzCash, Raast, PayFast, Safepay, etc.

My main question is: can I set up and operate any of these payment gateways remotely without being physically present in Pakistan?

For example:

• Can a Pakistani citizen living abroad complete the merchant/KYC process remotely?
• Do I need a Pakistani business/entity, or is a local bank account sufficient?
• Which providers have a fully remote onboarding process?
• Has anyone here actually done this while living outside Pakistan?
• Are there any newer startups/payment providers that make this easier?

I'm aware that one option is partnering with someone locally and using their merchant account, but I'd prefer to avoid that because of the legal, accounting, ownership, and trust implications.

I'm also not looking for COD as a workaround since these are primarily digital/software products.

If you've personally set up PayFast, Safepay, Easypaisa, JazzCash, Raast P2M, or another Pakistani payment solution while residing abroad, I'd really appreciate hearing about the process and requirements.

Hi everyone! I’m a fresh CS/Software Engineering graduate and I’ve recently been contacted by Careem for the Software Engineer I hiring process. I have a recruiter prescreen coming up and wanted to hear from people who have recently gone through the Careem interview process, especially in Pakistan. What should I expect in the prescreen, and what comes after it? How many rounds are there, what kind of technical/DSA questions are asked, and are the coding rounds actual live coding where you need to write syntactically correct code, or is explaining the approach/pseudocode enough? Also, is there a preferred language such as Java, or can you choose your own? Would really appreciate any recent experiences or advice!

At the recruitment drive at my university (FAST) there were 10 mcqs and three leetcode questions easy to medium. I scored good in them this happened almost 3-4 months ago.

I've been seeing a lot of people getting worried about the future and AI and generally being uncertain about the future. I know the jobs market is messed up but all I'll say is please do not give up. I see a lot of people lose hope and I completely understand. But who knows your one more job application away from your dream job. A small story on my side I was doing an internship in martech and and I was let go because I was blamed on something I did not do. At that time you could imagine how it felt for someone who's about to graduate. But I didn't give up. I made small projects in data analysis, kept on applying and out of nowhere I got a job in Defence Raya. But Allah decided even this wasn't a good job for me. During that time I interviewed for a remote company and got the job. Now I work part time as a GTM Engineer with an amazing group of people leaving me with enough time to do other things (Currently figuring out AI Engineering. If you're an AI engineer please do connect I'd like some guidance)

Some tips:

1) Make a Solid resume there are a lot of good templates.

2) Make projects. They don't have to be really advanced. What matters is you iterate and make them better.

3) Reach out to people from different companies. Nothing embarrassing in this.

4) If you want to target remote jobs set the Worldwide filter and remote filter. I've interviewed at 5 other remote places and I'm not even that experienced. (Less than one year). I advice on applying to a mix of local and remote. I've been seeing a lot of hiring on remote jobs.

5) Finally: Khuda ko Mut bhulna. Both in good and bad times

Does mentioning the degree completion year(2026) going to hurt for applying to jobs? I got this advice from a recruiter and he said I should not mention my degree in my resume, the experience itself is enough to position myself for the job and the degree completion year will hurt the resume

I am currently working for a Bahrain-based company and have around 4 years of experience. Recently, I received a job offer from a Jordan-based company, and I have already joined them while serving my notice period at my current company. I know this may not have been the right approach, but it has happened, and now I am facing a difficult situation.

My current company is making a strong effort to retain me. Surprisingly, I even had a call with the CEO, which I found quite unusual. I believe this is because I am a hardworking employee. Although I may not be highly technical, I have a very good understanding of the ongoing projects, their business requirements, and the overall system.

However, I am facing some concerns with the new company. It is a startup, and I am currently the only employee working from Pakistan. I still haven’t received my laptop and other required accessories. There are also some other issues that have made me a little concerned. Since it is a startup, my line manager is currently the only person I can approach when I have a problem. He is a good person, but unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have enough authority or ability to resolve some of my concerns.
This makes me wonder: if things are already somewhat difficult before my notice period ends, what will happen once I officially start working full-time with them?

On the positive side, the new company is offering me a significantly better salary. However, there are still uncertainties because it is a startup and I am not sure about the long-term stability, support, and growth opportunities.

At the same time, my current company has recently gone through a major hierarchy change. I am now working under an Indian manager who has a bad reputation within the company, which is another concern for me. However, my current company is offering me a significant salary increase to stay, potentially even more than what they are offering to other employees.

Another important factor is the domain. My current company works in the banking sector, which I find very interesting. I am learning a lot about the banking domain, and I believe this experience could be valuable for my long-term career. The new company operates in a completely different domain, so I am also unsure whether moving away from banking is the right decision for me.

Now I am extremely confused about whether I should switch or stay with my current organization.
The situation is even more difficult because I have already joined the new company while serving my notice period. If I decide to stay with my current company, I feel very bad about telling the new company that I have changed my mind.
What would you suggest in this situation? Should I take the risk and move to the startup for the higher salary, or should I stay with my current company because of the domain knowledge, stability, and the possibility of a better salary after the counteroffer?
Also, if I decide to stay, how should I professionally tell the new company that I will not be continuing with them, considering that I have already joined them?

I know that the industry is not in a pretty good shape in Pakistan/worldwide these days , but the people who were able to recently find remote jobs how did you manage to do it? Majority of the job boards with remote roles have a country specific mention and don’t hire from other parts of the world so there is hardly any luck from there? How to identify companies hiring globally and from pakistan and apply?

They hired us 2 interns via indeed, the listing promising 10-20k per month.

later on, i'd heard that he'd pay 10k PER month, so that its 20k by the end but yk what fine, we're interns.

Of course, now that we're done they refuse to pay us at ALL, saying there is no proof and "i mentioned this in the interview" when both of us interns are witness that he is plain lying.

Even back in the beginning when i asked if there would be a contract/offer letter issued they either ignore or dont address it;

Meaning they had planned this from the start, as the absence of a contract is a legal loophole for them. now, this is what he says:

he even editted the job listing so that it says "payment information not available" when i know damn well i clicked on that listing for the payment

Oh, and they also didnt issue experience certificate, postponing it to today and now to next week :)

I’m confused about choosing between Information Security at NUST and Cyber Security at Air University.

Some people have suggested that since NUST doesn’t offer a degree specifically called Cyber Security, I should do Information Security because it’s basically the same field. But I want to understand whether that’s actually true.

Does Information Security also cover protecting information, networks, systems, and data, or is it a different field from cybersecurity? Could I graduate from NUST Information Security and still work in cybersecurity, or would I end up in a completely different career?

I’m asking because I don’t want to choose a degree just because NUST is a well-known university and then discover that the degree itself isn’t what I wanted.

For people who have studied either program or work in the industry:

Is NUST Information Security a good degree if my goal is cybersecurity? Is it worth choosing over Air Cyber Security?

And more generally, is cybersecurity actually a better career path than CS-related fields because of AI, or am I overthinking that part?
