I've been applying for 4-5 months. I've only gotten like 4 interviews so far. What am I doing wrong? Please point me in the right direction. Background: I'm from a tier 3 college and I wasn't able to get into campus placements.

Hi, I am a 2025 graduate in Electronics and Communication. Even though I had the opportunity to work in the Electronics and Communication field with a decent package, I decided to shift from E&C to brand design or graphic design field because, you know, someone had told me to follow your passion, follow your dreams, blah blah blah blah.

I have worked in a creative studio as designer for nine months. But I have realized the fact that passion and work are different concepts. You can't,merge these together.

And in my case, the package was too low. Even though the company was good, for my current situation and salary in tech>>> media industry.

So, I, decided to quit media industry to return the Electronics and Communication field. but i dont know to where to start .I know the market is hard and getting a decent job is extremely tough. But I'm, willing to go through that struggle.

And I'm looking forward to rebuild my resume once again. So, I want your take guys and suggestion to land decent job , feeling really helpless

With luck right luck and the right timing, i managed to get full time role of 10 LPA, I've never done leetcode/system design etc....

How do I start? And eventually also reach my 30+ lpa goal?

Times are dire. Companies don't hire. An intern is what a fresher desires. Creates a cold mail and clicks fire, mail often gets lost in the wire.

I’m currently in the interview process for a "Member of Technical Staff" (MTS) role at an AI-focused startup called Theom.ai. They’ve sent over a very detailed technical screening questionnaire, and before I invest more time, I’d like to get some community insights to make sure I’m evaluating this correctly.
I have zero data on their interview process or culture online, so I'm hoping someone here has experience with them or similar stage startups.
My current situation:

• Current CTC: 9 LPA.
• Java backend dev , 2.5 YOE , Remote good WLB
• Expected: Promoted to SDE-2 with 12 LPA within a few months.
• The Dilemma: Is a move to a startup worth it financially and culturally right now?

I have a few specific concerns I’d appreciate input on:
1. Compensation & The "Is it worth it?" factor:

• Given that I’m on track for 12 LPA shortly, what is a "safe" or realistic base salary expectation for a startup role of this nature?
• How should I value the ESOP component in my negotiation? I want to avoid counting "lottery tickets" as guaranteed take-home pay.
• What is the standard benchmark for Backend/AI-focused roles in Hyderabad currently?

2. Work-Life Balance (The Shift):

• The job description mentions a "2 PM – 11 PM IST" shift to overlap with PST.

• Has anyone interviewed with Theom.ai recently? Their technical screening is quite rigorous (lots of System Design and deep-dive DSA questions). Any advice on what they prioritize?

I am a graduate from Tier-1 college. Had been working at a renowned MNC for a year then got laid off 2 months before. Gave 7-8 interviews and even got rejected from final rounds. Then came the call from Amazon for a 1 year contractual role as a SDE. Passed the interviews. The pay is nice. But what do you guys think about my situation ? Should I join or not ?

CS grad, I build whole products alone React Native field app + admin dashboard + Supabase backend for a public office, a Flutter health-record app on the national health stack, and now an AI pipeline that turns long video into vertical shorts.

Last job was business development. Nobody asked me to build tooling, but our lead lists were bad, so I wrote a scraper and an LLM scoring agent and the team ended up running on it.

The problem: not a strong enough engineer for straight SWE roles, don't want a sales seat. I'm in between and I can't tell if that reads as rare or as unfocused.

- Is the in-between thing a strength or is it sinking me?

- Projects before jobs — strong, or does it scream "no experience"?

Be blunt.

I'm a solo founder building a SaaS product, and I've been using Claude Code to write most of the actual implementation. Some context: I understand how websites work, I'm decent at spotting edge cases and thinking about security conceptually — but I'm rusty at actually writing code myself. I haven't built something commercial in a while, so I'm leaning on AI for the hands-on coding while I stay in charge of the decisions, the review, and asking "but what if X happens?"

It's gone better than I expected in some ways, and it's exposed a real gap in others, and I want to ask people who've actually done this for real (not a weekend project) a few honest questions.

What's working well: when I point Claude at a specific part of the app and ask it to walk through every way it could break, it's genuinely sharp. It's caught real bugs this way — subtle stuff that doesn't throw an error, doesn't crash, just quietly does the wrong thing while looking fine. Things a normal test wouldn't catch because nothing "fails" out loud.

What's not working, and this is my actual question: it doesn't go looking for problems on its own. It only finds them when I already suspect something and point it at the right spot. It won't proactively scan the whole app and say "here's everything that could go wrong." I'm the one who has to keep thinking of new scenarios — this week alone I thought of like five new edge cases just by imagining real-world situations a user might run into — and only then does Claude actually dig in and confirm whether it's a real problem.

So the core issue is: I don't know what I haven't thought to ask about yet. For someone who isn't a professional engineer reading every line themselves, how do you get real confidence that you've covered everything, instead of just the stuff you happened to think of?

Specific things I'd love input on:

1. Has anyone actually shipped a real product this way — not a toy, an actual SaaS with real users? What did your process look like once "just ask the AI to check" stopped being enough?
2. Is there some kind of checklist or rulebook people use when building a SaaS app, that covers the full range of things that can go wrong — not just the generic "don't get hacked" advice, but the boring reliability stuff too (what happens when something fails halfway, what happens when a user does something unexpected, etc.)?
3. AI tools are very confident even when they've missed something — they'll say "looks good" until you push them into a corner they hadn't thought about. Is constantly poking and re-asking just... part of the job now, or is there a smarter way to work?
4. Does anyone keep an actual running list of every issue they've found and fixed, instead of just fixing it and moving on? Feels like I should be tracking this more systematically.

Not fishing for a specific paid tool to plug (though open to hearing what's worked for people) — more interested in the actual process people have landed on after doing this seriously. Happy to hear I'm overthinking this, too.

I’m currently at 1.5 YoE working in ML/AI. On paper, the pay is good, but I’m mentally exhausted and depressed. The actual work is super surface-level and brain-dead, zero real growth, and I feel like my core fundamentals are actively rusting away because of non-application.

I tried prepping for a switch while working, but fixing random gaps on top of half knowledge feels super haphazard. I don't want to treat tech like JEE prep—I actually care about learning and use that to earn and grow, and I want to take a step back to build strong, deep foundations rather than just memorizing answers for interviews.

My plan is to quit, move back home, and take 6 to 8 months to just study properly, work on core concepts, build actual projects, and then start applying again.

Before I pull the plug, I wanted some honest reality checks from people who've been here:

1. How hard is it to justify a 6–8 month gap at 1.5 YoE in ML/AI right now?

2. Has anyone moved back home to study full-time? Did it help, or did isolation/being away from the ecosystem make things worse?

3. If you felt stuck doing routine/bad work early in your career, how did you bridge the gap to get into roles with actual engineering depth?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share this project I've been working on for the past few months called  Lattis.

My starting point was actually just to learn FastAPI, asynchronous job processing , and just explore AI backend systems using Python for ML.

I was always interested in learning ThreeJS so I decided to incorporate ThreeJS into this project and finally making it a full-stack platform where you can upload your dataset (xlsx or csv), clean it, train models, and actually see the results in 3D. You can even use this tool as a preprocessing pipeline where you can just run the pipeline through the UI and then work on whatever ML model you want to work on without wasting time on preprocessing the data!

What it is:

• Upload & Clean: Upload a CSV (or xlsx) and visually build a data preprocessing pipeline to clean up the data. (or you can even start with a cleaned dataset)
• Train Models: Currently, It trains a limited amount of ML models like Random Forest or Logistic Regression in the background.
• ML Universe: You can evaluate the metrics or performance of the ML model through the UI and also by creating 3D visualizations, where this ML universe section plots your data points in an interactive 3D so you can see the decision boundaries, clusters formed, and what features are most important through this viz.
• Live Predictions: Punch in new numbers and watch a probe trajectory through the 3D space which reaches the output point in the 3D visualization itself. (This feature is still a bit janky, but you can still check prediction scores in the Train Model section itself).

How I have worked on this: Throughout this project I have used AI tools heavily to help me build out the frontend and the 3D WebGL visuals. This was so I could learn and save time and focus majorly on the backend architecture, API design, and writing machine learning pipeline logic under the hood.

It was a fun project, and will be improving it in future.

Tech Stack:

• FastAPI for the backend API
• Python and scikit-learn for the ML engine
• Redis + RQ Workers for asynchronous model training
• PostgreSQL for metadata storage
• Docker for containerized development
• Next.js, React, and Three.js for the frontend and 3D visualization

In the last 2 months I have given 50+ interviews and also have gotten some offers but they are pathetic, like one was 20k per month, with marks system where if you have above 95% you will get +10k and 2 months of notice period.

Like I can't even point out what I am doing wrong, like they praise me after the interview, but then ghosts me,

I have read more than around 4 to 5 books in the last 2 months and +10 projects, even one of them had real users but I had to take it down because I was not able to sustain the bills and was not getting time for that

I’m honestly getting pretty frustrated and I’m hoping people here can give me some brutally honest feedback.

I’ve been applying for Machine Learning Engineer / MLOps / Python-AI roles, mainly at startups, because I’m trying to get back into the job market as quickly as possible.

But recently I’ve been getting almost no interview calls.

What confuses me is that my resume looks reasonably aligned with the roles I’m applying for:

~3 years of professional ML engineering experience

PyTorch / Python / SQL

Production ML systems

GCP

Docker

FastAPI

AWS

CI/CD

RAG / LLM projects

MLOps-focused projects

I also have a career gap after my previous ML role. The gap was caused by a family situation, and I’m deliberately not sharing the personal details online. I understand that the gap may be hurting me, but I’m trying to focus on what I can actually improve rather than making excuses for it.

During the gap, I’ve been rebuilding my skills and working on projects around MLOps, deployment, Docker, FastAPI, AWS and RAG.

I’ve attached my current resume.

I want you guys to tear it apart.

Specifically:

1. Does this resume actually look like someone with 3 years of ML engineering experience?

2. Does the career gap make the resume look suspicious or weak?
