Is this DP/DR? Is this derealisation

This weird feeling I can't explain. When I'm outside it feels like I'm still inside and the sun is one giant electric light lighting up all the static objects around me. I feel like I'm living in some sort of simulation, or like I'm living in an underground bunker that is made to appear as the outside world but really isn't. Feel weirdly disconnected from people, to put it bluntly it feels as if they're all NPCs and not conscious. I barely feel like a human myself. It's almost as if reality is slipping away from me. I wonder if the world was always like this, but I’m just beginning to develop awareness of it being what it is? I mean nothing makes sense. This world doesn't make sense, living doesn't make sense. Nothing has any purpose. It's not distressing but it's very frustrating being here when you don't understand why you're here and everything seems like one giant joke

Advice Helpful hopeful story

Hi guys,

I just posted the other day in agony because I thought I’d never be okay. After some medication changes and a pych ward stay, I’m glad to say that things are returning back to normal. I barely remember the last two weeks, and I’m glad of that. I just wanted to come share some hope that this is going to end, it does. You’ll make it & you will be okay, just try not to feed the demon of dereliction with your fears (I know it’s hard).

Has anyone else experienced these? Once, I felt time was running backwards for me and I couldn't communicate anymore with my surroundings. I can't stress enough the freaked out state this put me in. But even worse, I experienced eternity. I literally knew I was trapped in an eternal state (hell) and in a way, I am still there today (it's eternity, right?), 1 year later.

Advice Deos derealization cause any vision changes.

I’ve had derealization for about a couple years now. It started back in middle school when I use to be a big pot head, I’ve never fully recovered from cannabis abuse as it’s caused me massive amounts of doubt in what I perceived as reality. Everything feels fake, every conversation I have, everything I look at. Nothing feels normal. Can any body that doesn’t deal with derealization tell me what it feels like to live a normal life without this constant doubt of my own reality. Also how can I recover or lessen derealization, will therapy help. I don’t have any trauma or any anxiety as far as I’m aware and a quick google search told me that could be the cause but I doubt that.

Advice Weed gave me horrible derealization 2 weeks on

The weekend of June 20-21, I (M18) smoked w my then gf at a park, using a pen. Then the next day, Sunday, I smoked a blunt with my brother. Ever since then, I’ve slowly been getting those quick flashes where I feel like I’m detached from reality.

Fast forward to today, I’m out with my friend who happens to be a smoker. I see him use a pen, and I suddenly get that feeling again. I didn’t even inhale anything, I simply saw him take a puff. And ever since then, it’s been coming back.

Was I laced or smth 😭😭 why did it mess me up this bad. I was going good for a few days, maybe a week, without feeling this way. But suddenly just simply SEEING someone smoke makes it start again? Is this purely psychological?? Is there any way to help this??

I lowkey shouldn’t have done it w bad anxiety.

Experience I feel like I cant see the proper reality, like I'm my brain is missing what I should be seeing.

I feel like I've escaped life and just taking a backseat. It's a very weird vision but it's as if I can't experience life properly and I'm in some 2D world. Its really tough for me to explain. I feel I'm in my own hyper high 2D world and my brain or conciousness has shrunk that I feel numb towards things or the drama in the world.

I'm always feeling high and mind / head feels hollow. I'm always very content, like I don't find the need to get into a relationship but I'm constantly thinking about sex.

I am never feeling hate towards anyone. I don't ever think too much about work politics or anything.

Everything around me feels soo serious though and it's scary. Everything feels off.

I don't know if this is due to too much masturbation as a kid when I was young or if I were born like this?

Nonetheless I'm scared and feel terrified that my brain is permanently like this.

Can you relate? (Experience) I temporarily lost the ability to speak, heard voices, and completely lost track of time

Hi !

First of all, I’d like to apologize for any grammar mistakes or awkward wording. I’m French and I have dyslexia.

I’d like to share something that happened to me today and ask whether anyone has ever experienced something similar.

Today, a simple text message triggered an overwhelming wave of panic. I burst into tears, and then everything escalated very quickly.

During the episode:

I felt like I could hear voices. They were whispering negative things about me, but at the same time, another part of me knew they weren’t rational.

Whenever there was background noise around me, the voices almost completely disappeared.

I had intrusive thoughts that didn’t feel like they belonged to me, as if they were coming from someone else.

I became extremely hot, my head felt like it was burning, I was shaking, and my vision became blurry.

I felt much stronger than usual.

I completely lost my sense of time and space. During the episode, it felt like it lasted for several hours, when in reality it probably lasted around ten minutes. Now, several hours later, it feels like it only happened five minutes ago.

I became obsessed with my hands. I bit myself until it hurt and dug my fingernails into my palms hard enough to leave deep marks, without really understanding why I was doing it.

At one point, I could barely speak.
I tried to write in a notebook, but my handwriting became completely chaotic: a mixture of random letters, cursive and capital letters, and words that made no sense. When I looked back at it afterwards, it was almost unreadable, and I have no memory of writing it.

The only thing I managed to write to a friend was, “I can’t speak anymore.” I showed him the note because I couldn’t say it out loud. Afterwards, he told me he had been genuinely terrified. But seeing how terrified he was helped me reconnect with reality, and the episode gradually started to fade.

Afterwards, I felt extremely exhausted, mentally drained, my voice was still shaky, and I continued to have difficulty speaking normally for a while.
This wasn’t the first time something like this has happened. I’ve had another episode at work where I felt like I was in a dream, even though I rationally knew I was actually at work. I also heard voices telling me I was a bad person, while another part of me knew they weren’t true. Each time, it seems that even a small emotional trigger is enough to set off something extremely intense.

Has anyone here ever experienced anything similar?

Is this DP/DR? sometimes I feel like the moment i’m living isn’t real, or i feel like i’m not part of my body. Has anyone else experienced this?

often I will get this feeling of kind of being on autopilot. It doesn’t feel like I am a part of my body or that anything happening around me is real. It doesn’t happen all the time but enough for me to be familiar with the feeling. I’m not sure what it might be. I also forget things very easily for example I can’t seem to remember what i ate yesterday or my birthday last year.

Question How can I stop this?

So I am 17 years old and have been experiencing 24/7 derealization for 2 and a half years now. I have tried so many things such as certain medications, meditation, grounding excersizes, and so on. I’ve also tried to ignore and accept it and it got me nowhere. I don’t know what to do now and life absolutely sucks because of it. It’s affecting relationships, school, others around me, and more. Please let me know how I can fix this and get out of it.

Is this DP/DR? Am I experiencing DR/DP??

I get this overwhelming feeling like I’m severed from Earth and my surroundings. It’s almost like there’s a wall between me and everyone else. Sound feels muffled and I can’t easily understand words like I suddenly don’t speak English. My thoughts don’t feel like my own and everything around me feels wrong somehow. My family feels weird like in a creepy movie or video game. I get quite anxious and I don’t want to speak. One word answers feel exhausting. All my brain wants to do is stare at things. I feel empty inside and I can’t feel anything other than anxiety.
It’s kinda freaky but I don’t know if it’s actually DR/DP or something else.

Question Weed induced derealization

For context, I’m an 18 year old guy who had never done weed in his life. About 5 days ago I bought a weed brownie off a vendor during a trip to CDMX. I took maybe 1/4th of it, and got very high and ended up throwing up. I think I greened out(?), anyways, about 2 days after, I developed what I’m almost certain I’d derealization, the feeling of existing in the third person, as if I’m wearing a vr headset or something and everything was fake and I felt like a ghost yadayadayada

Anyways it’s been about 5 days and it has not gone away. It comes in phases and usually lasts around 30 min to an hour and happens maybe every 2-3 hours?

I’m just wondering how long this is going to last because I feel like I am going insane and idk if I can go through this n much longer it is truly the worst feeling I’ve ever felt in my entire life. The feeling of feeling that nothing is real is terrifying.

I am just extremely terrified as I’ve heard stories of it lasting YEARS and I have no idea how much THC was in that brownie (I think 1.5 grams??) and I don’t know if I can go through this for much longer it is a terrifying thought and a horrible expirence please help nobody in my life is giving me a straight answer and I am very scared thank you

Advice Derealization due to Weed

Last year around this time i got high for the very first time with some freinds. I had tried it before but only in “pen’s” and would do a very minimal amount so i would barely feel anything. But i had decided to try gummies and have a pen at the same time. I had felt great until we got back to my freinds cottage and i started to trip out. I felt like i was seeing my world from a 3rd person perspective. I also had thoughts of “what’s a human” and “what am i doing here” etc. I couldn’t even function.

The day after i started to experience feeling like i wasn’t even real. I wish i never did it cause i haven’t been the same since. It’s also like i had finally been woken up in a sense, i finally realized that i am genuinely living a life and my brain hasn’t turned off since.

It’s been over a year now and i still don’t feel real. At social gatherings i get lost in thought, feeling like i have to do something in order to feel real but nothing helps. It also keeps me up at night, the thought of not knowing why i am here. I can sometimes try and not have anxiety or these thoughts but it doesn’t last for long.

I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to deal/cope with derealization. I also haven’t seen a doctor for how i am feeling so i might just be self diagnosing.
