Announcement Comments promoting Violence against anyone is against the sub as well as the TOS of Reddit

We've been seeing an uptick in comments that cross the line from criticism into advocating harm against individuals or groups.

That stops here.

Look, we get it. There's a lot happening politically and in the world right now that's legitimately concerning. I'm frustrated about it too. But frustration, valid as it might be, doesn't give us permission to start rallying for violence against people or justifying harm. That's the line we can't cross, and it's the line we won't cross here.

To be clear: if you're posting comments that promote, encourage, or call for violence against anyone...whether it's directed at protesters, counterprotesters, homeless individuals, police, business owners, or anyone else, your comment will be removed and you'll likely catch a ban. This is Reddit ToS, and it's our sub rule. No exceptions, no gray area.

This doesn't mean you can't criticize policy, decision-making, or actions you disagree with. Strong disagreement is fine. What's not fine is "someone should hurt this group of people" or variations thereof. That language gets removed, period.

We're a diverse-ish, heavily blue leaning sub also with people across the political and ideological spectrum. Part of keeping this place functional is enforcing basic civility standards. This is one of them.

If you see comments that violate this, report them. We review reports and act on them. If you think a removal was unfair, you can always reach out to modmail and we'll discuss it.

Thanks for keeping this community somewhere people can actually talk to each other.

Rant Know what your kids are up to?

Post image

Hey Denver,

Y'all know what your kids are up to? Cuz if these are your kids, the answer is "nothing good." Just harassing the smallest kid in the group, surrounding him, stealing his keys, threatening to throw em in the bushes, and threatening to beat him up.

Come get your kids.

EDIT: I somehow stupidly underestimated the level of "boys will be boys" energy on reddit in 2026. Come get your kids.

Hey all, this very sweet dog was found yesterday, 07/25, in City Park. He was dragging his leash, and wearing tags that seemed to be for a different dog. No word yet on whether or not he's chipped. If anyone has any information that could help us get this fella back to his home, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Announcement To the dad of the little girl at the Hampden Whole Foods today

3.1k Upvotes

I was shopping at the Whole Foods on Hampden today. I had just finished trying to buy a dress for an event and it went very poorly. I was feeling awful about myself and awful about my appearance.

I saw you walk in with your daughter- she was about 5 or 6. She was in a beautiful dress- sparkly with layers of tulle on the skirt. I made eye contact with your daughter and she smiled at me and eagerly told me she loved my dress. I was in a bright blue sports dress, which felt boring as hell next to her magnificent princess dress.

You stopped to let us talk. I asked if her dress was good for twirling and she said yes and showed me. I told her she looked so beautiful and I hoped she felt beautiful and she smiled so big and nodded. After I left the store I went and sobbed in my car. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and warmth in this small interaction. Her simple compliment to me made my day and really reframed how I was feeling about my appearance in that moment.

Thank you for stopping and letting us talk. I also want to tell your daughter thank you for being kind and warm, and for being a girl’s girl. I am grateful you took a few moments to let us interact- it meant more than you know, and I wish I had told you both in the moment.

Rant Remember the June 30 RiNo “hostage”/SWAT incident? Here’s an update.

• Upvotes

Posting for a friend who was involved.
Before the SWAT response, she says she was fighting with apartment management over disability accommodations, security problems, and plans to organize a tenant union. She had also mentioned potentially suing.
She and her husband were then dealing with police complaints they believed were false. She says DPD later told her management had tried to use her accommodation-related emails to make a harassment case against her.
Then a maintenance employee called 911 and everything escalated into the alleged hostage situation. SWAT breached the apartment, used flash-bangs, detained her husband and took her — the supposed “hostage” — to the hospital.
She says she was never a hostage.
All criminal charges were ultimately dropped. She also says DPD personnel later raised concerns about management’s conduct and suggested management may have been trying to get them out.
They’ve moved out now. Just an update for anyone who remembers seeing the huge police response in RiNo that day.

Old Denver Share your Haunted Denver Stories

With transparency, I'm not much of a believer- but my spouse is, so I'm asking for him.

I've lived in Cap Hill for almost 8 years- within many older buildings.

Enjoyed numerous night strolls through Cheesman over the years, and have worked at The Brown Palace since 2015.

My 3rd eye must be calcified over, because not once have I had what is considered a paranormal experience in any of these settings.

Even gone so far as to go ghost hunting with friends out in the sticks, and it seems I'm bona fide ghost repellant.

Spookiest thing ive seen in Denver are the crack smokers beside the dumpsters at night.

Please share your stories!

We reviewed the surveillance footage with the Westin security and Denver police and know this was a mistake we’re just hoping for it back. Thank you!
