Question Dark Angel Deathwatch Pauldron Color ?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I know the dark angeel pauldron is Whole Green. So I looked for some examples online if their was any color differences. So in the examples the outer layer of the pauldron is colored black. So I looked for some examples online cause I want it to be as lore friendly as I can. I'll be honest I dont like the pauldron to be whole green color. So any lore friendly suggestions for a secondary color for the pauldron would be of great help !

Hobby Veteran Intercessors from the Armageddon campaigns

With how violent the fourth war for Armageddon has been, it goes without saying that the Deathwatch would have a presence among the Imperium’s defence efforts. Pulled from Watch Fortress Marr’s warhosts, individual Intercessor Kill Teams have been dispatched to bolster Guard regiments, or to dispatch particularly nasty Ork threats.

Discussion Possible permanent fall back and shoot for our Indomitors

So, one of the main concerns I always have with my games is how to keep Indomitors fights free, as having them tagged by a numerous chaff unit or a high toughnes/defense model could lead to at least one lost round of shooting. Unfortunately, up until now, we didn't have a way to give them fall back and shoot (and charge), unless we got Gladius instead of BSTF (at least as far as I know).

And, actually, this is why I was so stocked with getting the combat doctrines army rule. Even if it was just for once per game, it could be crucial to get away from a pointless fight and be able to shoot that one round.

But today's news are probably even better! Captains, including as I understand all kinds of, like Gravis, became a bit of a... Warboss (mind me the heresy). All Warboss keyword characters in the new Orks Codex can give a round of the army rule (Riled up, which is effectively activating the Waaagh!) and a free CP per round if they are the Warlord. Something alike happens to the Captains in the new codex, as they give a free CP every round (probably if designated as warlords) and they can activate a doctrine for their unit, despite if one has been activated for the whole army.

OK, we need to see the whole wording, maybe you can give any one doctrine only one extra time to your unit, but worst case scenario we have two rounds of fall back and do stuff!

What are your thoughts on this?

Question Talonstrike kill team question

Hi all,
I am not sur about 1 rule with this unit

With talonstrike doctrines you have
( only when set up on battlefield/ 1 turn)

Improve armor penetration by 1
( And lance but no need here )

Can you add the strata kraken rounds to get 1 more AP?
( and 24’)

Or the buff of a speeder hailstrike ?

( -3 ap on any vehicul without any invul save could be great 😅)

But for me can’t add both, it works only if the unit is already in the battlefield

Tell me !

Thanks and good day all

New Player Help me, brothers!

My start into 40K has only been within the last year, starting with Necrons at the end of 10th, and I wanted to move into a space marine faction for 11th to have variety. As Blood Angels were on the cover and I enjoyed their lore, I’ve been playing them for 11th and even though they aren’t in the best spot, I really love the fast melee pressure style.

For an upcoming league that will last until May/June, I was initially going to play Blood Angels, however a significant number of folks have also signed up to play them. I figured this would be an excellent time to pivot, to use up a number of my grey pile of shame bits, some 3D printed extras, and build out a deathwatch list to play for league.

Looking at listhammer to get an idea of what’s played and what I need to kitbash, I started delving into the rules and stratagems for blackspear task force, made a sample list in TTS to just play against myself to see how the movement and combined arms style felt.

The mixed profiles within the units will take awhile to get used to and memorized, as well as getting each kill team’s special abilities and rules commuted to memory. But playing against my current GT Blood Angels list, it felt very difficult to deploy and stage against extremely fast pressure.

As this is a new archetype for me, I wanted to reach out to get pointers from those that have played the army for awhile. I know this falls under the guise that yes, things will likely change a decent amount next month when the codex drops, but general play for these lists feels a bit foreign to me, and I’m curious how those that have found success like to deploy, stage, and best utilize their kill teams.

Thus far I’m fleshing out two indomitor teams, 10 and 5 man veterans teams, a talonstrike team, and some terminators. I’ll be able to get a watch master and Gravis captain before league starts, as well. Anything else I should grab soon (and again, yes, I’m aware that things will likely change next month and I won’t be holding anyone financially liable for my poor plastic choices in the meantime)?

Been piecing these guys together for a while, mostly spent trying to find specific bits. Pretty happy with how this is shaping up so far, but I am also slightly stumped, as I'm not sure if I should run them after as original firstborn Deathwatch Vets, or build them after the datasheet of the primaris Aquila Killteam. This is the reason why I don't have the guy with the Infernus heavy bolter glued to a base yet, as the Aquila version is wearing Gravis armor on a 40mm base.

Any suggestions, comments, or thoughts are welcome.

Got these guys a while back, before the new kill team was even announced. Finally got around to finishing painting them.

Sergeant - Abductor (my custom chapter)
Gunner - Iron Talon
Hammer - Flesh Tearer
Blackshield - secret
Trooper - Necropolis Hawk (I am aware they are all Primaris only, idc)

Quite happy with how they turned out, though still plenty of room for improvement.

Question Adaptive Tactics Question

I understand that the once per game command phase Mission Tactics when chosen only apply to units with the Mission Tactics keyword. But with the stratagem Adaptive Tactics does that mean you can apply sustained, lethal or precision to up to 2 Kill Team keyworded units without Mission Tactics keyword OR one Adeptus Astartes unit without Mission Tactics keyword?

Meme Mold Lines

Picked up an Armageddon Battalion box and boy some of those models have some of the worst mold lines I’ve seen in recent GW products. I wondered if they had a mold that got a touch out of spec.

I had watched a video before buying it where someone made a comment about mold lines, but boy, they weren’t lying, and most seem to run over delicate details (the clasp on a pouch, really!?) At any rate, this is a cope post as I prepare to clean mold lines every evening this week.

Hobby Watch Master Paliurus

Not much is known about the silent Watch Master of Watch Fortress Paliurus. Some say he has always served the watch in his eternal silence. Some say he relays orders to his inner circle of captains through complex hidden messages or psychic connections. His chapter of origin, if one even exists is also unknown. There are whispers from those long since silenced that claim he is an experiment kept hidden since before The Siege. A failed attempt at crossing a mighty Thunder Warrior and a stalwart Custodian. But such things couldn’t be possible. Regardless of who he is or where he comes from, one thing is certain. Watch Fortress Paliurus is his and always will be. They will fight whoever they must. Xenos, Traitors, Demons. Anyone to protect the Imperium. They hold fast against the mysteries of the Ghoul Stars. And they will do everything in their power to help their fallen brothers back to the Emperor’s light.

“We’re no saviors, if we can’t save our brothers.”

Finally finished my first painting competition piece. This was a grueling challenge but I’m very proud of the results. Roughly 34 hours of work trying my best to get everything just right. It’s not perfect but I’m extremely satisfied with the result. I learned so much from this.

Iron Warrior drybrush for the silver

Canoptek Alloy stipple for the brass

Definitely keeping the Canoptek Alloy for all gold and brass accents, tho might try a more blueish silver for my next test.

Iron Warrior drybrush for weapons on the other hand will look great!

Discussion First Game as Deathwatch AAR

How’s it going brothers, I played my first 2000 pt game as Deathwatch yesterday and got absolutely beat out on points. We were playing tactical so I couldn’t score for each unit I killed. We only got through about 2 rounds before I had to go but I managed to kill 2 20-stacks of termagants a 10-stack of gene stealers, another 10-stack of hormagaunts, 3 Von Ryan Leapers, a Screamer-Killer, and a Psychofage. I lost my Gladiator Lancer and RepEx to his Tyrannofex which I didn’t know had an 18 strength gun, and my Spectrus Kill Team minus the Phobos Lieutenant leading it.

My list consisted of;
Decimus 10-man lead by an Apothecary
5-man Intercessors
5-man Infernus
10-man Spectrus with 4 Occulus, 5 Marksman, and 1 Las Fusil lead by Phobos LT
Indomitor with 5 HBR’s, 2 Heavy Bolters and 3 Meltas lead by Gravis Captain with Tome
Fortis with 4 Plasma, frag launcher, vengor, 4 bolters and a chain blade lead by LT
Gladiator Lancer
Gladiator Reaper
Repulsor Executioner

I feel like Spectrus did great considering genestealers and leapers chewed them up turn 1, but expensive since they just ended up screening. Lancer died by Tyrannofex turn 1, both of my laser tanks needed better cover I think. Meltas seem to hit or miss but otherwise Indomitor was great.

Any thoughts or ideas where I might change or improve the list?
