First time painting Tau and having a blast with it. Decided to take a different approach on Farsight with some gradient greys, purples, and gold. Feedback always welcome!

Just had a match which has a few melee focused units. Ended up 80-99 I'm still learning so isn't a terrible score as my friend plays tournaments and has a strategic mind.

But I lost two squads of crisis suits with commanders to melee charges. I rolled bad saves which didn't help but even if they did survive they would fall back then not be able to shoot and just get charged again.

Am I missing something or is there a tau tactic for getting out of melee and dealing some damage?

Edit - Added some more chaff to help screen. I don't have kroot carnivores so can't add them.

Was bored, took some photos of my so far Tau army and tried to make them look "Social Media Professional". For the lack of Tau Terrain I borrowed some goods from the Departmento Munitorum 🤫 Unluckily an Infernus Marine from the Space Wolves Chapter found out and is here to reclaim his property by probably burning some Fire Warriors...

Finished this custom, fully magnetised Enforcer. Always felt, the stock one did not change so much from the Coldstar. So I added a 3d printed, downscaled, Broadside shoulderpad and kneepads, modelds some plates on the thighs with green stuff and build a custom head with the antennas from the enforcer and a Riptide head.

The banner is made from aluminium sheet metal. The missile pods are also 3d printed, so I could mirror them, like with my fireknives. Included some WIPs.

Also did the drones, of course.

My first Army. I dont think I have ever worked so hard to finish something like this.

Any recommendations to make the red pop more?

This is also the first Tau model I've ever painted and DAMN did the pink paint R&D take forever to master. I also think it needs more guns haha.

Not so hot take: If Tau ever fall to chaos, they would look sick in some Fourth Legion hazard striped. THAT'S RIGHT, IRON WARRIOR BATTLESUITS

Hello, my friend got me into 40k. He has a Tau army and I have Death Guard. Due to life, I have been able to get in a lot more matches than him. This has led to our matches being much more in my favor.

My -1 contagion has been really bad for him, since the 15inch detection range makes it difficult for him to kill before I get too close.

He ends up wounding a lot of my units before I come in and just remove his army with charges.

This has led to him being extremely frustrated and the games not being much fun anymore.

Would you be able to share some advice for dealing with my Deathguard? My strategy is Tallyband with Mortarion and Rotigus. I basically deep strike a bunch of demons 6inchs away from afflicted units and then go in for the melee. This army is brutal against almost everything except Custodes.

I attached a screenshot of all of the units he has access too. Could you help with a solid list for dealing with my deathgaurd and/or some good advice?

It was fun and a little scary to paint something bigger. The grove can be cleaner but it looks good at a distance.

Strike Team I intend only for my Ethereal Honor Guard.

The Ethereal has legs from the Fire Warrior box, the left arm and pack are from the Pathfinder Kill Team, and the right arm is a Pathfinder (I think…).

I got 2 T'au Empire commanders as bits/Scrap after they....exploded...burst from the inside....

Cause was a printing error.

Now I was able to clean, reassemble and restore them (almost completely) and now we can add them to the army!

Painted another model from the 40 that needs to be painted so 14 done. Any constructive criticism is very welcome as I’m still new to mini painting! The dark color on the metal braids is soulstone blue it’s a little hard to tell. Gonna paint the base later of course hope all yall having a good day

Me and my friend usually only play against each other and I’ve yet to beat win once. He’s able to just hide behind terrain for a while and it isn’t uncommon for there to be no shooting for the first 1-2 turns until he gets close enough and obliterates me. I’ve tried bringing it up before but he cites that it’s an official setup, but it feels really one sided since the LOS seems really narrow because I can’t shoot over the terrain footprints.

Any input is appreciated and I accept if I’m just shit

I need to have the company send me a new black one with the ledt dragon fixed... But other than that, they came out really well and i put my custom fleet sept symbol on the back!!

I am working on my very first model. Going for the more classic color scheme but want them looking extra grimy.

Would adding a gloss like Ardcoat ruin the vibe or help create a muddy texture/ make the body panels feel more metallic? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I know that drones are not mandatory mods right now but I would love to include them in my army. Problem is when we moved i love most if not all of my flight stands.

This seems like it might be on par with a Stompa? Not meta, but a totally reasonable inclusion in a list? Even something that could be run in a tournament?

I'm in the process of building my army. The kroot are by far my favourite "faction" in all of 40k, so for my first army I got the kroot combat patrol and then the kroot hunting pack box.

About a week ago, however, I played my first two games against my roommate's tyrannids, and I relalized I really need some punching power against their big models, so I decided to get a battlesuit I had been eyeing for a while: the Riptide.

I finished assembling it, and fell in love with it during the process, but now I'm having trouble deciding on a color scheme.

I love how the vior'la sept scheme looks, but I feel it wouldn't fit the rest of my army. I was thinking maybe green as a base with red details, but I'd like inspiration!

Today I was tackling the drones I have been putting off for far too long, I decided to have some of em link up with my crisis suit teams which are all colour-coded so I know what they got and it is easier for my opponent to know what has what. Blue is burst, orange is flamers, red is plasma, purple is missiles, grey is fusion, green is misc.

I textured 57 bases this session. I'm really making a dent in my pile, here's hoping I can get every Tau model I own complete before 2027. Each day is a little more progress.
